    - Task Name Format When I create a new project the name in the task cell does NOT have WBS information with it. Some projects have task names that reflect the WBS number like "3.1 Do" This instead of just plain "Do This". I am not referring to an additional WBS column, but in the task name column itself.     - Custom Gnatt Chart I received request from a customer for a custom Gantt chart. He would like to see the bar for summary tasks overlaid with the bars for the sub tasks.     - Printing Range - Gannt Chart I'm trying to print a project created by a colleague... When I go to print preview, the columns show up fine, but on the chart side of the page, the dates start almost 12 months before they should and I only get a tiny bit of the blue bars showing up.     - Resource Management Hi We are using Project 2000 with a Windows 2000 desktop. I have been tasked with looking at a way to improve resource mgmt for our IT area. Project 2000 is already widely used by the staff to manage their projects. However, there is no central resource pool for people to access - they have just been creating new resources within the project file each time a project is created. I have created a resource pool project file for the area(approx 20 people) which will be used in the future by the staff for planning their projects. There will probably be a maximum of 20-25 projects at a time 'attached' to this resource pool. After that long buildup my question is what is everyone's opinion regarding a way to show staff absense from work (ie unavailable)? I know that I can go into the actual resource pool and mark dates as being "nonworking time" for staff holidays/training/sick etc but is there a way to create an actual project file that shows this info? From a resource mgmt point of view we would like a way to not only see if a resource is just unavailable but also why it is unavailable - holidays/sick etc. I would welcome any advice.     - Custom fields in the .mpt My predecessor, within the global .mpt, updated a text field so that it had a value list and the field is limited to that list. We no longer need this setting, but no matter what I do, I can't get rid of it. I go into the organizer and try to delete it. I go into the 'Customize Field' dialog box and change the radio button to none. Nothing seems to work. Everytime a try to create a new project file, that field comes with it.     - How do I join the Tasks and Resources tables in MS Project/Access I have exported a MS Project file to MS Access for reporting purposes and am attempting to join the MSP_RESOURCES table to the MSP_TASKS table. My initial analysis shows that there is no direct link between the two tables. I have discovered a RES_CAL_UID and TASK_CAL_UID column that could be a potential join; however, only the RES_CAL_UID has values, the TASK_CAL_UID is -1 for all entries.     - MS Project While trying to create a Master Project, I keep encountering a strange problem. I insert a project and it automatically has a finsih date for 1/24/06 (which is the finish date of the master project assigned automatically by MSProject) I have to expand the subtask in order for the correct date to show up for that particular project, and this happens for every new project I enter on my Master project. Then once I have done that there are other times that the dates change back to the 1/24/06 date on every project and I have to go back and expand each one for the correct dates to show up again. Dustin is able to commit a maximum of 14 hours (2 days) per week to the project - not on any particular day.     - Mass update to Resource Allocation I have a plan with thousands of task items and about 20 resources. I have already started tracking the plan. We are about 230% through, and Mgmt decided to reduce the allocation of some of the resources to 80% allocation.     - 32,000 Resources for one project I'm working with MSP 2003. In several different projects in two different environments, resources seem to suddenly appear in projects...in one case 32,000 resources named "Unassigned" appeared, and I can't delete them (every time I try, the computer allocates 100% CPU for this, doesn't respond, and after 3 hours of waiting I gave up on this.) In another case, local recourses that are in the resource sheet multiply several thousand times - in this case I was able to delete them, but they re-appear on a regular basis. MSP runs fine on XP so I suspect your installation is corrupt. Try
uninstalling and reinstalling it. Did you you activate Project after
installing it?

Hi Luke

this seems odd as it runs fine for me - now, doesn't that help:)

maybe uninstall and a reinstall (do a custom install choose everything
rather than a "typical" install).
