Project files open on the project start date when viewing the gantt charts.
How do I get the file to open on the current date. This project spans many
months so it is a pain having to always scroll to the current date after
opening.

Bill,
As far as I know there is no simple way to force Project to open a file
at the current date, although an Open Event macro could do it.
Meanwhile, I'll offer an alternative. After opening the file go to
Edit/Go To... and enter the current date.

Hope this helps.
