    - How to schedule resource morning and afternoon task time? I would like to know how to schedule a resource for one task to the morning and another task to the afternoon. If the morning tasks takes longer then it should skip to the next day, not schedule for the afternoon. Here is the situation. I have two projects to work on.     - Duration is not accurate I have created a schedule using the default calendar of 40 hour weeks and 8 hour days. I have then adjusted the calendar to reflect the standard working time for our company which is 37.5 hours weeks and 7.5 hours days. The task bars have now all been slightly adjusted. For example I have a 10 day task that finishes a few hours before the end of the 10th day. So the succeeding task starts a few hours earlier. Anyone got any idea on how I might fix this?     - How do you create a cashflow graph for fixed costs? I am trying to create a visual cashflow graph that can display the project's fixed costs allocated over the course of the project, and set it to compare against the Gantt chart. Right now all I can seem to find is a printable cashflow report that lists the fixed costs prorated over their specified task durations and totals them by week or month. It would be much more useful to me if this information could be plotted in graphical form to compare to the actual project schedule. Any help would be greatly appreciated.     - Can't manually move tasks (rearrange) I did this frequently with no problems up until just now. I suddenly can't manually move a task. I usually would click the row ID (grey block) to select the task in the entry table and then release the mouse, and position the mouse back onto the same row ID block. I would then get a different cursor shape which allowed me to click and drag the block up or down and so would move the task higher or lower in the table. Suddenly the cursor remains a selection arrow after I initially click the row ID block. Even after I release the mouse and reposition the cursor, it stays a selection arrow.     - How to automatically level resolve under-allocations ? Hi all, I'm new here but have been a (periodically frustrated) MSP user for some time now... One thing that we've always tried to do but never managed to achieve cleanly is schedule a background task (for example maintenance or support activity for a software project) that can sweep up resource availability across the project automatically. For example if we are a team of 4 developing an iteration of a software product, and we are also expecting 1 FTE worth of effort across the team to be dedicated to fixing bugs that come through, I'd like to set up a background task, assign it 4 resources, and have it 'soak up' any spare availability from the team. Or to put it another way, automatic resource levelling would allocate maximum units to formally planned tasks and any spare units to the 'bug fixing'. The amount of unti allocation would change as I change the formally planned tasks. Naturally if there were not enough spare units from the formal plan to support the desired effort required in the bug fixing task, I'd expect the schedule to expand accordingly. The reason we need this is that day to day, developers activities change, and the only way I can see of achieving the above is to block out one resource to do the bug fixing at 100% allocation. This makes day to day tracking enourmously fiddly as a day not spent on bug fixing by this resource has to be manually re-allocated. I spotted the use of 'Maintenance and Operations Work' here http://blogs.msdn.com/dieterz/ but this looks like it's in the enterprise web based interface for server 2007 - not in project itself...     - Non working weekends not working Folks, I'm a newbie to Project and I have some challenges using the application. I have tried and read documentation but nothing seems to be working. That is why I am sending this. Scenario: I have tasks that bridge over weekends and instead of the system to treat them as non working days, it takes them as working days. For example, I have a task that is for 10 days and starts on 20th, Project tells me it ends on 28th. That is even 9 days and it counts the weekend days.     - Divorce Acutal Costs from Most Calculations I think many of us would like to see this. It is very challenging to maintain proper Earned Value when Project continuously adjusts work/remaining work/remaining costs, etc. by Actual values. Even with allowing Project to Calculate Actuals field turned off, this is still a problem. There are certain fields that use the Actual Cost or Actual Work field in later calculations. Example: A task is scheduled for 80 hours and 10 business days, fixed work, baselined, worker gets paid $10/hr. On the status date, the worker says "I am 25% complete, but it has taken me 30 hours to get this far." The problem is that if I enter 25% complete into project, the Actual Work column changes to 20 hours. This is incorrect ... his actual work is 30 hours. If I change Actual work to 30 hours, the %Work Complete changes. Wrong. If I enter an Actual Cost of $300, the CPI calculates correctly. However, I am being mislead in that I am inferring that 20 hours of "real work" cost me $300. In reality, I may have underbid the task and assumed the worker was more efficeint than actual performance. It is my opinion that I should be able to take "time card data" or "actuals" from a separate accounting system and send these to Actual Work/Actual Cost and have things calculate correctly. Otherwise, I am leaving it up to my worker to say... "Well, I am 25% complete but I have only been working x% as effectively as my bid so my ACWP is $300 or 30 hours" I feel I need a better match between Actual Work and Actual Cost. Actual Work (to me, time card values) has very little to do with the Work Completed... work completed is BCWP and it has nothing to do with cost or a time card entry. So, please agree or educate me.     - Microsoft Database Files and Tracking Mulitple Projects We are running a MS Project Database (MPD) with a twenty or so small projects stored within, each of which are inserted into a master project file also located within the same Database.     - Allocating multiple resources to a task does not shorten the durat Hi, This problem is happening with several tasks on my plan. When I try and allocate more people to a activity, it starts to decrease the duration (the task type is default, effort driven). But it gets to a point where by allocating a resouce, it reduces the duration by just a day whilst reducing the work of the other resources. I need to throw people at the activity to reduce the duration and meet a deadline. But throwing more people at it is not helping.     - project risk analysis I am interested in risk analysis of projects. I mean risk assessment beside economic feasibility study. Surveying our library, I found 'Project Risk Management' Chapman (2004) and read it. It has a good general perspective of risk management and gives a step-by-step methodological approach. However it doesn't exactly give me a technical view ie the statistical background to assess a project's risk. Due to lack of experience in the field I am puzzled how to take the path forward. I know that I should find the probability distribution of a risky unwanted event but I know no other way than expert opinion or just past experience on frequency of the event.     - PDS Extender - Registry Entry Access Problem hi, I have registered the PDS Extender successfully and it is working fine. It has an entry in the registry on the virtual path. But if an entry is already present on the same path for another extender and that extender has some problem, then Project Server does not reach/recognize my extender and returns from the registry entry having problem. For example i have registry entry "PDSExtensionEx2" value "Microsoft.ProjectServer.Extension.General" on the path "[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\11.0\MS Project\WebClient Server\ProjectServer]" and having no problem. There is already an entry: "PDSExtensionEx1" value "ProjectRenamer.CMain" on the same path and that extender having some problem (i.e. extender not configured properly or no DLL is present against that entry etc.) then Project Server returns from the entry "PDSExtensionEx1" and does not reach to my extender entry "PDSExtensionEx2". During installation, it is not wise to rename or delete the registry entry for other extender. Is there any workaround of this problem?     - Incorrect Total Sum when Filtering MS Project 2003. I am in Resource Usage View. I have another column displayed such as %complete or a text field, say Text1. All the resouce hours total up for Work just fine. Howerver, if I apply a filter ... say I auto filter on one of the items in Text1 or %complete, then the correct filtered lines show up, but the total values remain unchanged.     - Work doubles "Task doubles per resource" I have an issue where every resource is showing each task twice when I look at the resource useage view. Not only does the task show twice but it also shows that work is schedule for each instance of the task under the resource. I have been recording actual work performed each and then level the project by telling project to begin tasks that have not begun after a certain date. However I want to learn project. Most of the resource cost issues are not valid for me I do not think. I was trying to set up a simple budget. Getting quotes from vendors. the bottom of the invitation printed first, so I can insert the straight edge
of the invitation into the printer

Printer issue, not your software. See if your printer drivers will allow it.
Actually, this not the place for this question. This forum is to address
