    - Problem with links and constraints I have a couple projects in which I linked all the tasks, and it set the time line up as expected. Now if I go into them and modify the "work" of a particular task, the task next in line does not adjust the start date accordingly. The constraint type is "as soon as possible", but no matter what I do with predecessors (even delete links altogether) the start date of the task in question does not change. I can modify the start date by actually changing the start date in the task information dialog, but I know I've had this work properly in the past. Any Clues???     - Issue with saveing project to Project Server Morning All, I am having to call upon your expertise once again. I will keep this problem high level. When a plan is created outside the Project Server, the end date and the leveling process is correct. If you click level project, the little bar in the bottom will click a few bars every few seconds. Everything works out great. But when you take the plan to the server it will ask you to replace the resouces with people that match in our resource pool's whos ids are pulled from Active Directory. I will click yes, then it will take all of the leveling out of the plan. MS Project will decided that everyone can work 30-40 hours in each day that they are assigned to a task. It seems it is stacking the tasks with the same start dates and not leveling them like it should, when I click level project I do clear out the prior leveling and it will be level in less than a second but the dates will not change to the correct date.     - Levelling Issue I have a multi-phase project with an important milestone for delivery of Phase 1. When I resource level my project I get a very un-even profile with large peaks and troughs for the developers pool. I would like to maintain a steady number of developers on the project by putting them to work on activities from Phase 2 during the periods in Phase 1 when they are not needed. However, when I remove the dependancy of Phase 2 only starting after phase 1 has finished, the Phase 1 milestone is pushed out due to resources being used on Phase 2. All Phase 1 activities are higher up the plan than Phase 2 activities (ie lower ID numbers). I have tried lowering the priority of all Phase 2 activities and levelling by "Priority, Standard" and "ID Number" but this still happens to a greater or lesser degree.     - Default calendar working hours are wrong Hello I installed Project Server 2003 in spanish in a Windows 2003 server in english. The server regional configuration is set to Costa Rica and Spanish. Everything is working fine, but when I open the Enterprise Global Template, the default working hours are from 9 am - 1 pm and 3 pm - 7 pm. I will like the default working hous to be from 8 am - 12 pm and 1 pm - 5 pm. So far the only way I have found to change the default working time is to set every working day to a non-default working time of 8 am - 12 pm and 1 pm - 5 pm. Project's documentation says that the default working time for the US is 8 am - 12 pm and 1 pm - 5 pm, I changed the server regional configuration to US, but it didn't change the calendar. I have been asked to develop a standard template for my customer with their basic high level tasks. I will be creating a single one that was formerly comprised of three different documents. The differences were little. I was hoping to create a single template that contains all the tasks.     - Tasks STILL splitting I reviewed the numerous posts on the topic of preventing tasks from splitting and thought I had the answer, but I still have certain tasks splitting (that I don't want to). I have a task that is a one-time "approval" meeting. It is fixed duration non-effort driven. 3 resources are assigned. The "leveling can split" field on this task is set to "no". I do have the default under tools, options, "split in-progress tasks" checked. Here's my problem - The 1st resource is available on 3/18. The next available date for the other 2 is 3/25 (they are out of the office until this time). MSP splits the task and in the task usage view you can see that R#1 is 3/18 to 3/18 and R#2 and R#3 are 3/25 to 3/25. The overal duration is then of course listed as 3/18 to 3/25. I would have assumed that it would have scheduled the meeting on 3/25 (i.e. 1st time all resources are available). Bottomline, it still split the task. Any ideas?     - MS Project - Wrap This is the question I want to ask Microsoft in regard to MS Project. There is an option to print a report under "Assignments" called "To-do List " When I print this report it cuts off the "task name" information and it seems to be limited to 85 characters appearing in that column on the report. I would like for this column to "wrap" the text to the next line so that all the information appears. Another (but less ideal) option would be if I could resize the column so that all the information fits. I tried altering the page margins, but this did not increase the column widths. I also tried using the "custom report" option...but, I could not get into the actual report layout. This option only gave me the ability to alter minor selections on the report. I like this report because it gives me the weekly headers between the tasks.     - Calendar view When I access the "Calendar View" from either the view menu or the side bar, a number of my tasks are not visible. They have not been hidden, nor are they in any way different in priority etc (at least as far as I can tell) from the tasks that do appear. The date blocks have nice little arrows in the top left hand corner telling me that there are tasks hiding below and one can see what they are by selecting the right click option of "Task List....". This is next to useless to me and certainly not what I expected. If I drag (enlarge) the date blocks so that only one week is visible on the screen I can see most but not all the missing task bars except that in this case I loose the nice little arrows telling me there is more below. I can drag the task bars to the top of the date windows at the risk of disturbing Project's calculations. I have a 300 line project, perhaps not big by some standards but too big to have to go through a process like this. Can anyone please tell me why I am getting this result and how to painlessly fix it? Why should the task bars be separated vertically in the same date block when in all instances they are predecessor/successor, the same priority etc etc.? The only thing I can think of is that they are not always on consecutive lines ie their ID numbers are not consecutive, but that is no excuse for a program allegedly as powerful as MS Project 2003. Hi ra,

As you have discovered, the Calendar view is limited when you print causing
tasks to overflow. Have you tried experimenting with the Format>Bar Styles
command and changing the bar styles to lines instead of bars and turning off
Project Summary tasks and perhaps even summary tasks? You may find even
after doing those steps you still have overflow tasks if you have a large
number of tasks per day.
