    - Indent tasks gives correct Duration in summary task but doubles W. I am a new Project 2003 user. Since I work against a finite number of hours estimated into a job, I define the tasks as "Fixed Work". When I create three tasks , enter the Work hours in each of the lower two, and then indent them to the topmost (Summary) task, the Duration in the Sumamry Task is correct, but the Work hours are double what I expect to see.     - Two different calendars for one project We are doing work in the Middle East from North America. Our typical non-working days are Saturday and Sunday. Our overseas office is closed Thursday afternoon and all day Friday. Is there any way of implementing both calendars in one project? Some of the engineers are in Oz and have different holidays when their office is closed. How can I have ANZAC day a non-working day for the engineers and a working day for us? We have been asked to figure out a way to analyze overallocation across 16 large projects using name based resources.     - Shared Resource Pool Shows deleted tasks Hi, I have set up one Resource pool which is currently being shared by 42 small Projects. These projects all have individual Project files. I also have another project file that provides me with a consolidated view of all 42 projects. My problem is that I recently added the 42nd Project. After I added it to the resource pool and to the consolidated view I renamed and deleted some subtasks. These subtasks no longer show in the individual Project or on the consolidated view. The resource Pool however is another matter. The deleted tasks are still showing up and are still tying up a resource.     - import & update actuals I have a large project and approximately 25 people sending me weekly spreadsheets to update their actual hours worked. Not knowing the havoc that it was going to create, I was importing those spreadsheets into my project plan and updating the actual work column. Everything was working fine until I just discovered that the actuals were updating future date. For example, the plan allocates each resource to work 6.4 hours per day. That's a total of 32 hours per week. If a resource sends in that they worked on a task for 40 hours that week and I increase the actual work column by 40, behind the scenes project only puts 32 hours on the current week and then schedules the rest for the following week. One, I need to figure out how to get all the hours posted from the past 16 weeks to be backdated so there is no longer future dated actuals. And then, two, I need to figure out how to post the actual hours by date instead of just updating the actual work column....or is there a way to tell project to force any overage to the current billing week.     - Summary task Resources Hi, Is there a way to have MSP calculate the resources usage of a resource for a summary task based on the detailed of the sumamry ? I would like to be able to see the resource graph (Split window) for a summary so I will have the allocation for the each resource linked to that sumamry task without going in more details.     - Rescheduling uncompleted work Greetings. I'm developing a prototype for the production planning of a small factory. We've decided for a master project with a number of subprojects (one for each order). The resource pool is on the master project. Every day, the planner needs to update the completed tasks and reschedulle those that didn't start when they should have. Tried to reschedulle, in the master project, for all the subprojects but it didn't work. I need to open each of the subprojects and reschedulle one by one. As each subproject is relatively short (a couple of days) and it may add up to 100 simultaneous sub-projects, reschedulling one by one will consume too much time to be practical. Is there any way to reschedulle the uncompleted work for all the subprojects, no matter how many they are, with only a few steps?     - Start-to-Finish dependency between summary task & predecessor Hello, I am trying to shedule a summary task (ST1) to start so that it finishes at the same time that a sub-task under another summary task (ST2) begins. ST2 lasts 8 weeks and ST1 lasts 3 weeks, the sub-task under ST2 begins 6 weeks into it. So, I want ST1 to start 3 weeks into ST2. With me so far?!? Project won't let me assign a 'Start-to-Finish' dependency between the sub-task and ST1 so I am forced to use a 'Start-to-Start' dependency with a 3 week time lag. Obviously this is not ideal, as any change to ST1's duration will not change its start date - to do this requires me to manually change the time lag to equal the duration of ST1.     - Resource Usage view accross all projects for enterprise resources When looking at the resource usage view, you see all projects resources are assigned to.This is very helpful for overallocation on all projects.But the problem is seeing specific info per project, eg specific allocation per project and also costs.It's easy enough to filter per project name and only see your active project's tasks, but the cost for example does not calculate correctly to summary level, it still displays the total across all projects. team of 20 surveyors working on 40 short projects (each between 0.5 to 10
weeks duration) at any one time between them, or is it overkill?

The only worthwhile answer to that question is derived solely from the
business needs you have and what it's worth to meet them. There are a number
of other tools on the market that might suit your needs that are less
powerful than Project Server (as well of course several competing products
that rival Project Server).
