I received a project file via e-mail and cannot open it.

I have windows 2K with microsoft project 98 installed.

Microsoft project 98 does not appear when I try to save
using the 'Save as type'box.

Hello,

You have to ask the person who send you this mpp file to use the "File /
Save as... / Save As Type : Microsoft Project 98 *mpp" command

Not sure how you are trying to open this file you received in email.

It's good that you have Project 98. That's required.

You don't have to do a File/Save As... a particular file format from the
email software. Just save it. From your email software, simply save
the file into a known place on your hard disk or lan server. Ensure that
the file has a *.mpp extension (which it should have if the person
sending you the file did it correctly).

Then launch Project 98, and File/Open the file from the location where
you stored it.

If your email client and Windows are setup correct, you may be able to
simply double-click on the attachment and Project will open and load the
file.

Im not sure what you're talking about, sounds like you've got some
more serious issues if you cant open a project 98 file. Maybe you
should quit while you're ahead.

Who says the file is 98? He does not know that, all we know is that he had
98 running, so if the file is 2000+ he cannot open. Géreard gave the right
diagnosis, he should ask the owner to save as 98
