Hi again,
I am using a number field in the resource usage to show the actual effort of
the people. It's filled by a little macro updating the data from the task
view where it's also stored in a number field, not in "actual work".
The field "work" in the resource usage shows the sum of the activities in
the resource summary, however, I can not show the sum of the actuals in the
resource summary line.
Is there a trick to do this?
I'm using MSP 2007.
Thanks much for your help in advance,
best regards
Gabi

Hello Gabi,

Through a custom group you can get what I think you are looking for.
If I understand correctly, you have values in the assignment rows in
the Resource Usage view that you would like to total at the Resource
row.

First set the custom field to sum the values. Right click on the
number field choose customize fields. In the section "Calculation
for task and group summary rows" select Rollup: Sum.

Then create a custom group:
Project > Group By > More Groups, New
Name the group as you like.

In the first row Group By select "Name" from the field name drop
down
Field type is Resource
Order is Ascending or Descending as you like

Click the checkbox "Group assignments, not resources"
In the second row
Then by: Name
Field Type: Assignment
Order: either ascending or descending

Click OK to apply the group.

It's a bit of a round about but you should now see totals for each
resource line.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi Julie,

thanks VERY much, this is exactly what I wanted to do :-)
I just left out the "then by", so it's just grouped by Name and it looks
beautiful:-)
