    - viewing complete baselines in Project I am working on a project that is completely cost driven. I'm not sure Project is the best place to do this but its what the company wants. They asked that I build a baseline at original, 80% and 100%. In one workbook, the original and baseline were built, and when working on the 2nd workbook, I revised the workbook so its easier to use and view.     - Monthly Reports Another question. We have been on this project since July and yesterday the client sent an email wanting us to do this spreadsheet by month to show progress going back to July. I can't seem to get a report out of project that will show budget, actual time, percentage complete, ect by month.     - Budget, Actual Time, Percentage Completion I have been reading some prior posts but just want to try and clarify. Example: We have entered our budget and have actual time. One of the tasks we have was budgeted for 255 hours and we have 66 hours in it. However, this task is at 100%. We wanted to change the completion percentage to reflect that but when we do it changes the actual hours to the budgeted hours. Is there a way to keep it from doing this?     - Enforce Maximum hours per week constraint Hi, I have 3 resources which may be allocated to other projects, hence i am given only about 5 hours of working time a week from each of them. Is there a way that i may enforce this constraint? I've set the calendar to 5.00 hours in a week but this appears to have no function what so ever. I'd also like to enfore a constraint where-by they may only work up to 2 hours a day.     - Calendar during overnight working Good Morning or Afternoon as it applies. Could anyone please tell me how to assign duration in the "change working time" part of the calendar to reflect working times that begins at 18:00hrs to 06:00 next morning, meaning that the shift has a duration of 12hrs starting say monday evening 6pm and conclude Tuesday morning 6am.     - ICT Roadmap I am developing an ICT Roadmap for a large Governement org in Australia, which looks forward 3 years and maps out a range of tasks (each a multi-million project) towards a desired future state. The total gantt chart is a master project made up of 5 sub-projects I want to colour code the three different types of tasks. 1) Approved and funded tasks (typically year 1) 2) Approved but unfunded tasks (typically year 2) 3) Tasks which are not yet approved (typically year 3) A critical path is not required for colour coding purposes I tried to make a single field, with entry 1,2,or 3 in it, but was unable to make that work, either for filtering (I did not perservere) or for bar colouring. I did achieved the goal with a clumsy set of three fields (flag1, flag2, flag3), which have yes/no against each, which can then be used in Bar Types to set colours. I must have 2 no, and 1 yes, which is a manual process, and is subject to change over time as we roll the roadmap forward each year (or quarter) and project status changes.     - Creating a Project with VBA (MS Project 2003 Pro)? We are currently using Peoplesoft Projects and trying to integrate the data in Peoplesoft to MS Project. There seems to be problems with the delivered code and not much help from the Peoplesoft Community. My thought is to use VBA and access the Oracle data thereby creating the project, tasks, start/end dates, etc. I can't find anything anywhere that basically shows this sort of a thing.     - Historic Resource Costs I am not sure if I should be posting here or on the developers discussion group but here goes. I am having some trouble with historic and current resource cost rates. I need both in my project as the project spans multiple fiscal years and salary changes occur between and during fiscal years. We use the project import wizard to update our employee (resource) information. The excel file contains employee name (which become resource name in MSP) and cost rate (which becomes standard rate in MSP) along with some other info like phone #, etc. This file is generated from our corporate server which updates employee rates weekly. We have 75-100 employees. We update the resource portion of the project file quarterly. (This is due to the fact that our salary information for some of our staff can change every 3-4 months). What I would like to do is perform the import from excel using the same file described above, but when I import I would like to be able to set the Effective Date for the resource cost rates equal to the day that I perform the import. Then I would like the cost rate I am importing to be the new standard rate for present and future tasks. As it is now, when I import the data I can either override all of the past employee salary rates (so I get the new cost rates applied to both past and future tasks) or I can keep the employee cost rates the original values entered initially (so the old rate is applied to the present and future tasks). What I want is to be able to tell project â??For all tasks performed in the past keep the employees rates before the import date and for this day and after use the new rate that I am importing.â??. I know I can do this manually by going into the cost tab and typing in the Effective Date and its corresponding rate but for 75+ employees that would be very tedious to do every quarter. Does anyone know if there is a way to do this? I know some basic VBA so if any one has any suggestions or could point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it. TIA!     - How to create a link between a task and a recurring meeting? I have a Board that only meets twice a month (every 1st and 3rd Thursday), so I created a recurring task. However, I do not want my project to come up at every Board meeting. I want my project to be on the agenda of the next available Board meeting after a certain task has been completed. For instance, Task A was scheduled to be on the 11/4 meeting, but the timeframe changed so that Task A is not scheduled to be completed until 11/7. I wanted Task A to be scheduled on the 11/18 meeting, instead of the 11/4 meeting. I tried doing a Finish to Start link between Task A and the Board meetings, and Project scheduled the Board meeting on the day that Task A is scheduled to be completed on (11/7), instead of the next schedule meeting (11/18).     - Find overallocated tasks when resource availability > 100% I am trying to perform manual resource levelling using Microsfot Project 2003. First, I display the resource graph (or resource sheet) to see which resources are overallocated. Next, I display the project as a Gantt chart, then filter using a resource name. Then, on the Resource Management toolbar, I click the "Go to Next Overallocation" button. This works fine for resources whose maximum unit is 100%. It does not find the overallocated tasks for resources whose maximum unit is greater than 100%. To make the example concrete, I have a team whose maximum resource unit is 400% assigned to a series of tasks. I can see from the resource graph that the resource allocation reaches 500% in some periods. But, I cannot use the "Go to Next Overallocation" button to find which tasks contribute to that overallocation.     - Why are tasks being assigned to non-working days? I am a Project beginner, so please forgive me if this is elementary. I've set up a simple project with linked tasks, durations and resources. At the beginning I "changed working times" on specific holidays and identified them as non-working days. Those days show up as greyed out on the gantt chart just like weekends, but the system still schedules tasks to complete or begin on those days instead of skipping over them like it does the weekends.     - Resource leveling when there's a fixed resource consumer Hi all, sorry if this is a simple question but I can't find the answer in the help. I've just started using Project and it seems quite neat apart from this one blocker. I have a resource person that's 50% busy for the whole of December, so I've marked a fixed task across all of december using 50% of his resources. The task is "must start on" to prevent it being rescheduled. I then want him to do a task which will start in mid-november and run into december. If I mark him as 100% work on the new task, Project won't schedule any of that task in december, it will use a dotted line instead. If I mark him as 50% for the task, it will be scheduled okay but it will allow him to be 50% idle in november. I want to be able to say that all his available resource should be used on the task - 100% in november, 50% in december. I don't want to create two tasks because then I can't use resource leveling at all. Am I missing something obvious? Should I not be using a task to reserve 50% of his time in December?     - A new year Some help needed for a novice. The project I am trying to manage will run over a period of about 15 months starting on 01/12/04 - it will finish February 2006. However, a new cycle will start on 01/12/05, and I want to copy all of the details into a new schedule starting at that time. ResourcePM,

Consolidated (Inserted) project files or shared resource pools could help
you view resource availability accross projects, but only if all of your
projects are created in MS Project format (e.g., *.mpp files).
