    - Colors available in MSP 2007 Back on 2-15-07 Rod Gill mentioned that 2007 has more colors available. I was wondering where do I go to get more color choices? The same ones as in 2003 are available in my 2007. In fact the lime, aqua and fushia look a lot 'lighter' or 'washed out' and less vivid in 2007. I use these colors quite a bit and now you can hardly see them on the colored printouts. I suppose this happened because some people might want to use them as background colors.     - MSProject entered WBS values not correct in Resource Usage view I've created a resource schedule in Microsoft Project Standard 2003. In this I've mainatined my own values for WBS. When I swicth to the Resource Usage view WBS values I've entered are not all displayed. Some entries have outline numbers others have the values I've displayed. If I go back to the Gnatt view and enter some of the WBS values again (i.e. type over with the same entry) then the values in the Resource Usage view begin to be populated.     - Displaying non-working time within Gantt charts on the Print Previ I have allocated the non-working time (both weekends and public holidays) within our annual overall programme of works. This I have sitting in front of the Gantt bars in red which is all clearly displayed within MS Project (Standard 2003). However, when trying to view the details in the Print Preview screen the highlighted non-working time is not visible. I have checked all the rest of the details it also appears that the time-scale displays all days with the exception of Wednesday each week over the period of a year. I can therefore see the allocated vertical column when the Saturday and Sunday (e.g.) should be highlighted, but they are not on the print preview screen. Has anyone got any advise as I have tried everything I can think of, including scaling the overall programme down to a quarterly overview which then displayed the non-working time, but only for the initial 2 months of the programme (possibly a different issue).     - Order Tasks Properly HI, I am new to Project and am using MS Proj 2007. I used a work breakdown structure program to get all the tasks in and then migrated to MS Project. In my GANT chart, my7 tasks are out of order, but all under the right headings and I have long arrows all over the place. I have now put all arrows in and want to order the tasks according to time so there is a nice waterfall effect on my GANT chart. Does anyone know how to do this?     - Mass change of an external link I currently have 13 different subprojects. My Manager requested that change the names of all the files. I am looking to see if there is an easy way of changing all the external links for each file at once.     - Why won't MS Project allow relationship between two successive tas I am taking a project management class and we are to enter in a diagram from our text book. The problem occurs when we get to Task D and Task E. Task E is predecessed by Task D in a start-start relationship with a lag time of 2 days. Task E also has a finish-finish relationship with D with a lag time of 2 days. When I enter this in, I get an error message. Why won't MS-Project allow both a start-to-start and a finish-to-finish relationship between two successive tasks? Another quirk in this problem is that in MS-Project, Task F will not be shown to have 12 days of start-slack. Task F, dependent on Task A in a finish-start relationship, could start as early as day 5, after Task A is completed, or as late as day 17, to make sure that the task is completed by day 20.     - Task duration based on units in task and resource capacity for uni Need to complete 500 tasks. Each task is unit driven with varying number of units. (eg a task requires 10 units to be build before it is completed). I have 8 resource teams. Each team can build a different # of units per hour.     - EPM FE partial communication with BE Setup: Database Server, App Server || Firewall || Web Front End Almost everything else works except the following issue: On the Home page, the Risks and Issues categories are displaying the following error message: "There is a problem establishing a connection with the Web server running Windows SharePoint Services. Contact your system administrator." WSS works fine, configuration is ok since runing the app on the App server behaves normally. It looks to me like the problems is with the firewall, but puzzling is the fact that the connection ot WSS works fine if clicking on Risks or Issues on the top menu bar. Projects are displayed, and from there I can drill down to risks/issues. Any hint is welcome at this point. I've tried using proxycfg with no success. I've checked all account permissions and it all looks good (it works behind the firewall - app-db server only). It's definitely communication issue.     - Gantt Bars appear to be offset Hi, I'm having a problem with Project which must be simple to fix by changing a setting but I can't find it anywhere. Currently all bars on my Gantt chart start a day later than they should. e.g. the start date for the task is a monday morning but when compared to the scale across the top the bar start point is at the line between Monday/ Tuesday which gives the impression it is starting Tuesday morning. I would like the bar to start inline with Sunday/Monday. The end date on the bars however is correct. Does anyone know how to resolve this problem.     - Autofilter within macros Hi, In order to format a Gantt chart I currently turn on autofilter, filte the results then set the bar colour of all returned results to particular colour. I then repeat filtering for a different type and se the bar colour of the next set of returned results to a differen colour. I repeat this several more times...     - Loading a resource for a fixed duration task I have tasks that are fixed durations, lets say one week. The resources assigned need to be different for each day. For instance the engineer will work 8 hrs the first day, 6 the second, and 4 the third, and two on the 4th and 5th day. The technician however will be working in reverse as he takes over the hands on task so he would be 3 hours the first day, 4 the second, 6 the 3rd, and 8 on the 4th and 5th. I think I understand how to set resource availability by dates in the resource tab, but that wouldn't move with the task if things slide and change. How do I set this type of work loading for resources to a task so the work assignments move with the task. Our main concern is when certain tasks slip and then coincide with other tasks in other areas of the project where we would see a resource overallocation. e.g. a resources tasks have suddenly stacked up due to project changes.     - Scheduling and tracking question Hi All: Can you please help me address this situation? On a project with only 4 tasks, I want 10 resources to have 5% of their daily activity scheduled across the year. The 5% should never change as a resource allocation but there actual numbers can be less then or greater than the 5%. The start and finish date are the same for each task. When their actual work is applied, it changes their Units (which I believe is Peak alloc). Some resources have Units showing up as greater than 5%, what worries me is that it is changing the work distributed on resources. What is causing this to change the 5% alloc on the remainder of days. My task settings are Fixed Units Finish No Earlier than (Finish date) Effort Driven is unchecked. Estimated? box is checked. activities sorted out differently, but I can't get them outside small
projects.
