Hi, I have a series of linked tasks, say 101 to 105 with 1 day durations, and
I want to set the dependancies such that the last one finishes 2 days before
a separate milestone task, task 106. How do I do it so that task 1
automatically starts on the correct day, i.e. 7 days before 106. I don't
want to set 101 to start specifically 7 days before 106 as I want to be able
to change the durations for 101 to 105 and have the dates corrected
automatically.

Many thanks, Colin

Hi,

If you can fix the date of task 106, link everything FS and set the
constraint for 101-105 to As Late As Possible.

Hi Jan,

How good is to have the inflexible constraint of "Must Finish on" on some
task.

Thanks,

Many thanks Jan, however, that only get's me part way there. It does give me
the following:

1 Tasks 1-50 50 days Thu 20 Mar '08 Mon 12 May '08 As Soon As Possible
2
3 Task 101 1 day Wed 07 May '08 Wed 07 May '08 As Late As Possible
4 Task 102 1 day Wed 07 May '08 Thu 08 May '08 As Late As
Possible 3
5 Task 103 1 day Thu 08 May '08 Fri 09 May '08 As Late As
Possible 4
6 Task 104 1 day Fri 09 May '08 Mon 12 May '08 As Late As
Possible 5
7 Task 105 1 day Mon 12 May '08 Mon 12 May '08 As Late As
Possible 6
8
9 Task 106 0 days Mon 12 May '08 Mon 12 May '08 As Late As
Possible 1,7

However, what I'd like is for Task 105 to finish 2 days before 106, i.e. Thu
08 May '08. Please bear in mind that Tasks 1-50 control task 106 and their
durations can change.

Thanks, Colin

The linl 105-106 then should have a lag of 2 days.
Go to 106' s task information, Predecessors, to set the lag.
