    - admin task work approval I have noticed that whoever creates a project willl get to approve / reject the time. Is this right? If not is there a way to create an admin project in which people can put in their admin tasks which can only be approved by their managers? If i cannot do this I will have to create an identical admin task project from each managers machine and get the users to report time to their manager... is there a better way to manage this?     - Pasting relative predecessors in an existing schedule I am working with several large project files in which I need to update repeated tasks to many "machines". The updates include changes to the durations of these tasks (which you can easily copy and paste between the machines) and changes to the predecessors. This where I need assistance. I am using Project 2003 in a large corporation, so have no ability to upgrade if that is the solution. So, what I am looking to do is update one set of tasks for a machine and then copy those changes relatively to the next machines, so the tasks stay linked inside those machine tasks. So on my MS project plan, on the first line under task is EDD2000 and when you "expand" it you see all 23 enhancements which can all be expanded to see their tasks.     - Import\Save\Publish One Particular Project Running Project Pro\Project Server 2003 I have one particular project that I cannot save to the server nor publish. This is the only one I am having problems with. The importing of .mpp files, as well as saving them to project server as a published plan and publishing information works normally except for one specific project plan. There is nothing unusual about it: several hundred tasks, a mix of enterprise and local resources (with local being assigned to the NONE workgroup). It's driving me crazy, and if it weren't for the fact that it is several hundred lines, and the spectre of this happening on another project, I'd just manually recreate it. Given, say, 10 persons and a set of hours during the week that has to be manned, I want to plan which person should take which hours. Of course, I could just do this in notepad.     - How do I organise 90 tasks in a 5 day period? My team of 6 people has to complete 90 tasks in 5 working days. The allocation of the task should be so that each resource takes about 40 hours to complete all tasks. It does not matter to the project in what order each of them complete their tasks. If I put in a duration of a day or less project signals that all tasks need to be done on the first day and obviously the resources are then displayed as overworked.     - Actuals gone in PWA When I was working on a project file, it would not let me save it because it said that I did not have the project check out. I thought that I handled the issue by saving the file I was working on with a different file name, then deleting the old one, and changing the name back to the original name and republishing. However, this morning, NO ONE can see their tasks in PWA. I published, no help. This used to be three characters. Problem is that I don't have any practical experience with the server software. We're going to be using Office Project 2007 professional for our account managers and synchonization with the server.     - optimising space used by MPD files Hi all, I'm after a method by which I can optimise the space used by MPD files with MSP. Having run various MPP files for some time, that only ever grew to a few MB, I'm rather annoyed that these same projects converted to MPD files a few months ago have now reached as high as 24MB. Saving such an MPD as a new file sees it back to ~ 3MB so obviously the inefficiency is fairly extreme. Saving as a new file is no good as we have external systems that then see the contents as a whole new project (some indexes or internal ID's must be re-initialised in the process). I've read on this ng that loading the MPD into MS Access allows one to do a DB compress operation - indeed this does seem to work, but I'm rather nervous as to any repercussions of this method. Burn the image to a DVD or use software which is capable of mounting an .img
file and extracting from it.
