    - Printing a Gantt chart with tasks that are complete identified I have a simple project where all tasks are just milestones (please don't ask why-the customer wants it this way). I would like to have a way to indicate when these tasks are completed and have it show in the Gantt with a color change or something. Also I'd like to show it completed with a color change in the task information sheet-so when it is printed it is obvious what tasks are completed and what ones are still outstanding. Any help?     - URGENT! - Setting Overnight Working Hours MSP 2002 SP-1: I'm managing a project in US EST time zone with resources in India, one of which works 9pm EST the day before thru 6am EST. I'm trying to adjust the resource's calendar to reflect his working hours and the app is not letting me. I keep getting a pop up stating "end time cannot start before start time" because I'm doing 9:30pm-2:am and 2:30am-6:00am. Do I have to enter it as 12am-6am and 9:30pm-12pm? Will that accurately reflect his work schedule? I switched his calendar to base it on a 24-hr calendar and it still doesn't let me put "overnight" working hours. How do I do this? I have to report the timeline today and I just can't figure it out. We're on a very tight schedule for this project. And they just changed their shift starting tomorrow so I have to make this change reflect so we know what our timeline looks like going forward.     - Reflecting Annual Leave in project plans I am looking for advice on the best way for managing annual leave over a number of project plans using project.2003. We have around 50 project plans connected to a resource pool and some have dependency links between them. These plans are managed by several project managers and some resources are shared across a number of these plans. We need to review the impact to the tasks and whether any resource is overcommited when any resouce takes annual leave (or training). So, what in your opinion, is the best way of recording annual leave to show the impact? Do I; update the individuals resource calendar in the resource pool? produce another plan just to include annual leave and connect this to the resource pool? update the individuals resource calendar in each plan the resource is assigned to or just do nothing and expect the resource to be professional enough to take into account his/her leave when agreeing the dates to complete their tasks? or is there some other approach that I am not aware of?     - Contingency Hammock Having read various posts on contingency and hammock tasks, I have done the following which is probably 90% of the way there to what I am trying to achieve. In a single MPP file I have my project plan with all it's tasks I have then added another project within the same file to hold the contingency "pot", within that mini project I have a milestone task linked to the end of the project a "contingency used" task and a "contingency remaining" task, the contingency remaining task is "hammocked" between the contingency used and end of project milestone, such that when I increase the contingency used work the contingency remaining shrinks accordingly - this all works wonderfully. What I was wondering is it possible to go one better and have the value for contingency used to update automatically when the actual hours worked for a task in the main plan exceeds the allocated work hours ? Now I have a big Problem: when I add to my project plan 3 tasks: Task1, task2 and Task3, I can connect the three task BUT the task are not move automatically to the end of the last task.     - Resource Allocation: in after start of task , out before end of task Hi, I have fixed work tasks to which I would like to allocate resources (at 100% of their time) but only for part of the duration of the task. For example: Task1 is worth 20 days of work. I assign 100% of my first resource -Tom- to it as well as 100% of my second resource -****. The task will therefore take 10 days to execute. I also know that my third resource (yes - Harry), will become available for 3 days after Task1 has started. How do I reflect that? As soon as I assign Harry, he is assigned from first to last day. how do assign Harry for 3 days only (he starts after Tom and ****) and also needs to come off Task1 before they do. Of course, I would expect that Task1's duration would decrease as a result of having a 3rd resource working on it, even if it's only for a few days).     - lead time? SCENARIO: I am scheduling a project from an end date. I am creating a bunch of finish to finish relationships using the end date for various tasks that take place as the project finishes. Several tasks need to end 5 days or 1 week ahead of the start date, but I cannot seem to figure out how to get them to do this without setting static dates. For example, the project end date is 1/1/08. We want to send a press release out to some of our clients a little over a week prior to that. And the press release task is linked to another task for the creation of the press release in a finish to start relationship. How can I set it up such that the end date stays at 1/1/08, the press release goes out 12/28/07, and have the Create Press Release task start on 12/21/07 and end on 12/28/07? I have no problems linking the tasks together in the appropriate fashion, but I cannot get the lag/lead time to work so the press release goes out a week ahead of the actual release of the product. All fields in Project have a 255 character limit except for the Notes field
which can handle several thousand characters. There is no way to increase
the number of characters in these fields...

Are you wanting to exceed 255? Or are you needing to wrap text in a field on
a report?
