 - Print calendar View - large size I have a project plan which spans 12 months. I would like to print the Calendar View on a large poster size paper.  - Project 2000 and 2003 users using same MPP All - Looking for anyone with information regarding compatabilties between 2000 and 2003. We have project files built using 2000. Multiple Project Managers (PM) apply updates to the same project files. Some PM have been upgraded to XP w/ MSP 2003 and some are still on MSP 2000. When a PM using MSP 2000 saves a project file after a PM using MSP 2003 has saved it, a warning box appears stating saving the 2003 file back to 2000 may lose some data.  - Linking Tasks in Project 98 I've just started using Project 98 at work but previously used an earlier version many moons ago (think it was Project 4). Becasue my dependency lines used to make the charts rather cluttered I remember making use of a link edit facility so that milestones were driven by tasks but without a link line being present (I think the facility was designed for external links). I tried to do this recently on 98 but couldn't figure out how to do it. I know you can format the dependencies to remove the lines but this removes all of them. After testing the scripts that create the database and finding some postings here on the newsgroups, I've put together the steps on installing Project Server 2003 on SQL Server 2005.  - Symbol for illustrating indented tasks was a + with a box around i I use MS Project 2003. The symbol for illustrating that there are indented tasks used to be a + sign with a box around it. Now it is simply a + sign with now box around it. When I click on the + sign, the subtasks are displayed, but instead of a - sign with a box around it, simply a - sign is displayed.  - Gantt Chart Positoning I am using ole automation to create an MS Project chart. Just before I auto save the project I send the Project Start Date. This however dose not reposition the gant chart to bring the task bars into focus. If I manually type in the Project Start date the bars will move into focus.  - Tracking Tasks that can be Completed Out of Order My question pertains to tracking schedules for tasks that can be worked on out of order. Hereâ??s the setup: A person has several tasks assigned to him, all which must be completed by the end of the project. I link them together in this order: A->B->C. Due to the nature of the work, he might work first on task A for a day, then on task B for a couple of days, then task A for a few more days, then task C for a few days. Then, heâ??ll go back to task B and finish it, before going to finish task A, etc. The point is the tasks can be worked on in an order different than the way they are linked. They may be worked on before or after they are scheduled. They are linked as A->B->C because that is the â??generally accepted order one could expect to followâ??, but our process is very flexible on an individual basis. (This is software development as you might guess.) Iâ??d like to be able to track progress of this project and understand if it is on schedule. Any suggestions on how to do this correctly?  - Reverting to 'Old' Baselines Hi all, I have a Master Schedule with 14 Sub-Projects. Each of the 14 Subprojects are ultimately under my control but they each have a planner that will be working on them day to day. I will be saving the Baseline for all of the 14 + Master. What I want to be able to do is revert back to this Baseline in the future, should one of my planners do what they're NOT supposed to do and update the baseline in their plan.  - I thought the smallest units were Minutes? We have deployed Project Server and use Project Professional throughout the enterprise. A single instance of Project Professional shows seconds when totalling resource assignments values in Resource Usage View. The task levels show hours: its just the totals for the resource that look like 678,000s. We tried to uninstall and reinstall the application. But the behaviour remains. HOW DO WE TURN IT OFF?  - How to make a backup of a master project Hi all, I have a master project with 4 subprojects. I need to save these files on a daily basis for example: ProjectName_Date_Versionnumber. Thus daily the project as well as all the sub projects need to be renamed to the new version. What I currently do is Copy and paste all the files in the same directory and then I rename them. The problem with this is that I find that these backups still refer to the previous version when I go to either the resource pool (which also need to change) and the linked projects ?  - ODBC in VBA I want to import data from a table/query in MS Access 2002 into MS Project using an ODBC connection. I don't know if the .connection method is appropriate or how to use it. I would like some help on understanding the method. I have successfully imported data using VBA but that' s from an Excel spreadsheet as the intermediary and it's brought in temporarily and erased at the end of allocating data to tasks/assignments in project.  - Filtering for only cross-project links In a master with inserted projects that have external links, I want to display only those cross-project links. I've tried Predecessors contain "\\" and Predecessors contain \\. I can't use Predecessors not equal to (blank) because the projects have internal task dependencies and they all display.  - Set a start AND end date for a project? Hey, I'm beating my head against a wall trying to do this, and it can't be so uncommon a problem that Project can't solve it. Project lets me set a start date, or an end date, but not both. But frequently I get a project that's already got an end date (client driven) and a start date (usually yesterday =/ ). How should I work that? What I want is for Project to say, OK, if you want to do these tasks in this timeframe, you will overbook the assigned resources by this amount. If I could get "this amount", then I can go to the client and say hey, your resources have to be available for 100-200 hours a week for these weeks, and they can go hire contractors or whatever to maintain that workload. But Project doesn't seem to be able to do this. I enter in a start date, then enter in a Must Finish Before constraint date, and it warns me, and I say do it anyway, and it reschedules THAT ONE TASK.  - Calculating a parent WBS using a text column I am using a text field to enter WBS's, rather than Project's automated feature. We are using the 1.2.3 format. I would like to have another text column be the 'Parent WBS' column, but instead of actually typing in the parent WBS, I would like to create a formula that does it for me. My original approach would be the parent WBS would have a length of 2 less than the WBS text field (WBS = 1.2.3, Parent WBS = 1.2). However, if I have a WBS like '1.2.3.14', my output is '1.2.3.', rather than what I need it to be - '1.2.3'. Can anyone either help me with my approach, or provide a 'work around'? Potential work around would be if there is a '.' at the end of the string, then to remove it, but that sounds complicated, but may be the only way to do it. I am also not that good with VBA. Thanks. 1 and the manager allots time differently, can this automatically be updated

Hi Nichole,

Yes, it is referred to a master projects. You may combine projects and
create cross project links (tasks in one project are set as the predecessor
to tasks in another project.)

See Help on master projects. If you have the same resources, you may wish
to look into resource pools as well.

If you are using Project Server, you may want to post specific questions on
the project server newsgroup.
