I am using Project 2007, and Office 2003. Is there an update I can get to
make Excel 2003 accept the Project visual reports?

It works fine for me. Excel 2003 is supported for this feature and it should
work. Are you seeing an error?
On the other hand, the reports for visio require Visio 2007.

Yes, I get a message saying:

"Excel is busy. This may be because Excel is currently waiting for user
input. Switch to Excel and correct the problem, then try again."

Excel isn't running at all. I assumed they were incompatible.

Try having excel open before you run it and see what happens.
Also go to the Task Manager and look to see if an Excel process is running.
