Bar Styles - Default settings

I am setting up project and see the options for the bar
styles. I would like to permanently change the default
options to my bar-style choices, so that each new project
file automatically uses the settings I have chosen.

For example, I have changed the marker for a milestone.
Also, I have set the position of the start date and
duration in relationship to the bar itself. I do not
want to have to reenter these choices everytime I do a new
project.

I am sure it must be easy... I just can't find it in the
help screen.

Hi,

Bar Styles are recorded with an object called a view and saved with the file
they are defined in.
I suppose you changed the styles in a Gantt Chart View? If not look out in
which one.
Now go to Tools, Organizer, Views, select Gantt Chart in your file, select
Global.mpt on th other side and copy.
Now all new files will show your new Gantt Chart.
Mind you, you just destroyed a potential source of the original default.
If you want to avoid that, before copying your Gantt Chart into Global.mpt,
rename the Gantt Chart in Global.mpt to "Original_Gantt" or whatever.

You could always create a template and use that for new projects. Please see
