    - Access PDS from PHP, login problems Hi, I have to integrate an application developed with PHP with a Project Server, so we've decided to access Project features using PDS services. My first problem is that we can't use windows auth, but using project auth I always get the same response, (I use the following address "http://myserver/projectserver/LgnPSAu.asp?un=DOMAIN\user&pwd=password") <?xml version="1.0" ?> <Reply> <HRESULT> 5002 </HRESULT> </Reply> But the odd thing is that if we try to access project server directly from the server (using Internet Explorer), a prompt appears asking me for user and password, (my user is something like DOMAIN\user) and then project runs fine.     - Enterprise Field Formula I have created an Enterprise Field (Delta) with a formula that subtracts the number of hours in one Enterprise Field (Actual Hours) from another Enterprise Field (Budget Hours). Budget - Actual = Delta Actual Hours are read from an external timesheet database. Budget Hours are manually entered into Project. If Actual is zero, Delta matches Budget.     - Auto-publishing Project Information We have more than 200 projects in EPM, some of these projects are closed and others are not. When adding new indicators or calculated fields, (e.g. the graphical indicators) it does not appear in the WPA unless we go back and publish each project individually.     - Pre-Task Hello everyone, I am recently starting to get involved with Project, and there is something I can't figure out how to do and I am not sure if it is possible. There are some tasks which have a Predecessor task which is not linked to any other. For example the case where I would have to build a "Concrete Floor-Slab", and after I have it ready I can put "Marble Floor" in it, the building sequence is Concrete floor-slab and then Marble Floor with a FS relationship, but I would like to have a "Pre-task" for Marble Floor, which is "Ordering" it, and that task has a Duration of 4 weeks, so to be able to start with Marble Floor, I would need to be done with Concrete Floor-slab, and Ordering, but Ordering task has no predecessor, I just need to do it 4 weeks before starting Marble Floors. What I have done so far is just to put "Ordering" with a FS relationship to Marble Floors, and just manually move it have the Finish date when "Marble Foor" starts, the problem is when other activities change Marble Floor moves forward or backward in time, and Ordering stays still. That is because Ordering is taken as a activity that needs to start n day, is there a way to do it the other way around? I mean to "anchor" the Finish date of Ordering to the Start of Marblefloors and have the Start of Ordering varying? The whole idea is to be able to incorporate to my program, the "Ordering" or "Pre-fab" times for some special activities, for the construction to be able to run smoothly.     - Baselin 2 Cost... Hello, I'm new to Project and using Project 2003. I set a baseline and progressed the project. Next I added some additional tasks with related resources and fixed cost, and saved Baseline 2 expecting Baseline 2 Cost equal the sum of Baseline Cost plus the cost of the additional tasks with fixed costs. The Baseline 2 Cost being reported is considerably higher than the cumulative amount I wexpected to see.... Not sure what I'm missing here. I have both cost and schedule variances, but I didn't expect them to effect the baseline costs. Any help in understanding will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!     - Project 2003 doesn't work after install I just installed an evaluation version of Project 2003. But it doesn't work properly. When attempting to create a blank project... 1) When I click on "Select a Date to Schedule From", the date field it shows cannot be edited. 2) If I click on the next item - "Select Working Times", "Step 1 of 5" seems to work. I choose "Standard". 3) Then, when I click "Go to Step 2 of 5" the pane simply goes blank. 4) "List the tasks in the Project" does nothing.     - Earned Value - month by month I have a problem exacting â??earned valueâ?? on a month by month basis. I can export all the summary information using a modified File/Save As/Save as Type/Excel/Project Export Wizard/Selected Data/Use Existing Map etc and I am grateful for that but what I really want is to export the monthly totals by month and not as a complete total. The reports clearly state that they cannot be exported and therefore my work around is to print out the report and then input by hand the month by month data, which is a long and tedious job of doing something that I think is reasonably simple.     - MSP_PROJECTS Table Does anyone know what the difference is between the: MSP_PROP_AUTHOR field and the; MSP_PROP_MANAGER field is? These fields are located in the MSP_PROJECTS (project professional client) table. The database reference guide (ie. PJDB.htm) doesn't provide a reference to where this information is sourced (ie. from within the project professional client intereface), nor the difference between the two fields.     - Pooling Resources - OLE or DDE links warning/problem!!! I currently have 2 MS Project Plans with a few over lapping resources. I would like to link them both to one resource pool. I completed this successfully using two simple mock plans, but when trying with my actual plans which are quite complex (about 3000 lines each and about 200 resources combined) Project crashes. It first gives me a warning stating "Connecting 'My Plan 1' to resource pool 'Resource Pool' will remove all links to resources in 'My Plan 1'. Do you want to continue? To continue and lose all resource OLE or DDE links, click Yes. To stop the operation, click No." At which point I click Yes as I would like to create the pool. This itself does not bring forth the error, but when I try and close or save...     - Progressing Using Accumulative "S" Curves I would like to produce a progress report based on planned % vs actual % shown as an "S" curve.     - Progress Bars I am trying to incorporate two progress charts in one msp file. An active progress chart and a static progress chart. The active is the standard tracking gantt that comes with msp with an amended table to compare planned % against actual %. The static chart is easy if in a separate file - I baseline the project and change the activity bars to baseline start and finish, rather than start and finish. I then change the progress bar to Baseline start to complete throughout. If I record the actual starts and finishes in a dummy field ie start1 etc this works fine. However if i put this view in the same file as the active chart, the progress bar works but re-aligns itself to the actual starts and finishes, so sometimes the bar goes beyond the "planned" bar if behind programme or finishes before the "planned" bar if completed ahead of programme.     - Odd task relationships I have set up my project on a 10 hour a day work schedule. I have most of my tasks linked from finish to start. The problem is that if one task has a 1 day duration and finishes on Monday, and is linked to its subsequent task in a FS relationship, the subsequent task is also starting on Monday, not the following day. There is no lead or lag time assigned to either task. I look at the work in calendar view and the two tasks overlap a little on the Monday, but the Gantt chart shows them happening sequentially, with no overlap. I figure I have the work calendar set up incorrectly. Why is the software overlapping the work? I don't want any lag or leadt time. I need the work to happen sequentially. If task 1 finishes on Moday and has 1 day duration, with no hours or resources assigned to it, then the following task should begin on Tuesday, right? Tag: Starting Project Tag: 102535

    - Migrating from a MS Project Server 2003 to another one When you are migrating a MS Project Server 2003 to another server that already has MS Project & SharePoint Services running. Do you need to create a new SharePoint Services Configuration Database or can you just use the same one? If you re-create this configuration database, what information does not get transfered? I noticed that our Project Workspace default template needs to be re-applied (using stsadm.exe). Other than that, I haven't noticed anything else missing. We are not done with the test though.     - Project Pro Publishing Question hello, At the moment i am using project pro and publish a project to my project server 2003 using windows authentication...it works fine using the internal dns name which is the http:\\server\projectserver but when i'm trying to publish a project at home using the internet address http:\\project.domain.com it gives me a error saying "unexpected server error" click on view gives "you are not authorize to view this page" and can't publish.     - Can't "undo" an indent under a summary task. I accidently indented some tasks, which essentially created a summary task just above them. I don't seem to be able to undo them. I was just in the phase of listing the tasks and phasing them in my project so I hadn't set any dates or durations.     - Cannot overload resource with two tasks Hi all, I have created task1, task2 to the same resource R with 100% on each task within the same period of time. I would expect the resource to be overloaded with 200% but MS Project force the tasks to be done at separate times. It doesn't matter how I set the task type as Fixed Unit, Duration or Fix Work. MS Project doesn't allow me to change the Start date to start both tasks at the same time. Of course it will work if I reduce the resource R to 50%, but that's not my intention.     - Missing lines I got an ms project file. There are some lines missing: When I look for the task ID (ctrl +G) and choose 4 it pops up a message box: "Project searched the entire field and did not find a match" 1. How can it be - when deleting rows - the numbers of all the following records are updated? 2.     - Interruption in Project Plan I have a project that has been interrupted by our customer. I just downloaded the trial version of Project for my online computer class.
It opens, but I cannot click on a lot of the options, and the main part of
the screen is all white. There are not any gridlines or places to type in.
It shows the same thing when I open up other people's projects. Any ideas?

Sounds like you need to activate it. After a few startups, I think it's
five for the demo version, without activation it goes into an extremely
limited functionality mode. You need to be connected online to the net,
click help activate, and just follow the directions.
