    - Invisible Constraints Hi I found something very strange I have a task which is fixed work. The constraint is asap I use a predecessor so I want that my task starts directly after the predecessor. But it does not It starts two weeks later. Why?     - Project 2003 XML Question Hi, I am trying to build an XML report which shows the status of summary tasks in my Project. I have built a customer field using Number1 called PriorityTL, which has values: 0 - None 1 - Red 2 - Amber 3 - Green I have assigned these to graphical indicators and that is all working well in my project. What I want to do now is build an XML report which will show 4 tables (None, Red, Amber, Green) and place the tasks inside depending on their PriorityTL. 1. How do I display only Summary Tasks? <xsl:for-each select="Project/Tasks/Task"> <xsl:if test="Summary[.=1]"> This code will show ALL tasks including summary tasks, but I just want the summary tasks, not the detail. 2. How do I display only the "Red" tasks? <xsl:if test="PriorityTL"[.=0/1/2/3]"> doesnt seem to work <xsl:if test="Number1"[.=0/1/2/3]"> doesnt seem to work either I think I probably have both the name (PriorityTL or Number1) wrong and the value (0/1/2/3 vs none, red, amber, green) wrong but I'm not sure.     - Baseline Duration Field Not Auto-Calculating I've begun a schedule by inserting baseline duration, start, and finish columns, as I've done before. The problem is that the baseline duration field is not auto-calculating as it normally does. Enter start and finish dates out comes an estimated duration. For some reason, this isn't happening.     - Task duration I have a one day task that starts at 8:00 am and ends at 5:00 pm, yet the number in the duration column field shows as .86. When I change the duration column field to 1 day, it makes the end time 9:09 am the next day. If I try to load 8 hours for a resource in this task (the task is a fixed work type task), it says that the resource is over allocated. Can you tell me what might be causing this?     - Linking Subtasks from multiple subprojects I currently have 5 subprojects with 1 master schedule...I was wanting to know if it's possible at all to link a task in 3 of the subprojects to one task in the master?     - Actual Work - Distributed in Future While analysing one of our MS Project 2007 plans, I noticed that one of the resources has Actual Work entries for future dates - all the way through April, 2008. This doesn't seem possible and definately isn't legitimate e.g. he hasn't worked those hours yet and they shouldn't be in the plan as actuals - IMHO. We do have a timesheet tool that automatically updates daily actuals onto our plans and my first thought was that this individual processed future timesheets and somehow got them through the approval process and got the hours progressed down to the plan. I ruled this out because this individual is not ahead on his timesheets. Microsoft Project automatically distributes planned work but does it do anything automagically that might explain how future actuals could be present in the plan? I appreciate your help.     - Material ressource - usage at the start of task Hi, I have the impression the following is a stupid question but I don't find the solution by myself... I have a ressource with type "material". Let's say this ressource is "steel" and my project is about building a car. The car is built on let's say 3 weeks so I would like the "steel" material usage to change during the 3 weeks: eg: 1 ton used the 1st week, 1 ton used the 2nd week, 1 ton used the 3rd week ==> like it is for a ressource of type "work". Currently, the 3 tons are allocated to the 1st day of the 3 weeks task "build car". I checked the "accrue at" property and it is set to "prorated" so I would expect the 3 tons to be allocated on 3 weeks rather than 1 day. Where am I wrong ??     - Lost tasks I have an old MSProject created with Project 2000. I know there are about 250 listed tasks; however, when I open it, there are only the first nine. When viewing the file with 'notepad', I can see a number of other task names that I know are towards the end of the project (e.g. system test, client acceptance, etc).     - Linking dependencies across Subprojects Hi -- I'm trying to link dependencies across subprojects and haven't had any success. For each subproject, the tasks are re-numbered from 1, so I can't refer to a task in another subproject. However, the online help says: "If the projects are interrelated, the project manager can create task dependencies between tasks in different projects.     - Timesheet entry for Admin Projects MS Project seems to add actual work at the rate of planned work for blank cells of PWA Timesheet entries. The added actial work only shows up in Project.     - "Linked Information" prompt when opening a Project file I have Project 2003 Standard SP2 - stand alone. When I open an existing file, I get a prompt stating that my file contains linked information, and asking if I want to re-establish links.     - problem setting task days & subtask hours In my current project, I have entered all my Tasks, subtasks, and resourses. Here is my problem Some tasks are completed in 1 day (or 8h). These involve multiple subtasks that use different resources. The total time for all subtasks totals 8h. (ex. task--plant tours = 1d, subtasks--freezer, warehouse, processor, packing =2h each) PROBLEM: when i enter hours for subtasks the main task does not total correctly, I get ### or other odd items. Some tasks run 3-4 days, each subtask is equals 1 day. (ex. task--work with drivers 3d, subtask--tom, dick, harry =1d each) PROBLEM: when i enter days for each subtask the main task does not toal correctly 1.     - Duplicate Task All, A team member has a duplicate task showing up in EPM in his "Tasks". I have checked the plan in "Resourec Usage" and checked the task in the plan itself to make sure he wasn't assigned twice. I tried to "Hide" the duplicate task in EPM. but I get an error message.     - Default Task Type I have a web development project whose total cost was based on estimated development hours * hourly rarte. The project includes 15 modules, each estimated (hours to complete) separately but with the same hourly rate. Because of the hours estimates should the task type for resources (programmers only) be set to Fixed Work rather than the default Fixed Duration? I'm thinking it makes sense to have the programmer resources be Fixed Work and then insert a 'Work' column in the Gant Chart view to put the est hrs for each module for. Does this sound right?     - MSP07 PDF's Crash? I have a large MSP07 links, rollup and inserted files that I print out with Adobe for a PDF file. When I open the PDF, the file crashes. I've tried making it with a couple of other PDF appications i.e. CutePDF, all with the same results. Has anyone had this sort of problem? Or any suggests how how to fix? It seemed to work just fine for sometime and all of a sudden now i get the following error message when trying to open the file. "The operation cannot be completed because the source file contains invalid project data or the total number of rows would exceed the limit of 1,048,000 rows in a project.     - Header Footer Scroll Bar? I just ran into the weirdest thing. I was working on putting information in the Center Footer when for some unexplained reason, I may have hit a sequence of buttons I still so not know which, and a small scroll bar appeared on the righthand side of the window allowing me to move beyond the last line.     - Footer Problem In my Schedule I have to distinct views. One view we call by District has no issues with viewing the footer. Upon trying to type the same information into the second view we call Board Member the Center Text will not stay centered. It is strung out across the top or seems to stay left justified.     - Add resource from Outlook Hi, I have done some searching, but haven't come across this problem and resolution for it: If I add a resource from Outlook, I find that the name field includes the contact's e-mail address. I went to Outlook and changed the Display field so that it only includes the contact's name and tried again, but this time *no* e-mail address was imported, although the name field was correct!     - Roll-up Costs within Group I need some help badly. In my schedule I have a column that depicts Cost called Project Budget. Each School is the Summary task with the actual jobs being done as the subtasks. When grouped within the district each school shows the total cost. However, on the District line it shows approximately twice the amount that should be on the line. So in essence it's counting all subtask costs and the total at the school and adding them together. I went to Save As -> Tools -> General Options and set passwords and clicked on read only. When I re-open it suggests it to be read only, but when I click "No", it does not require a password and takes me right in, letting me modify everything. What can I do? Hello essie88,

Open the pool file with the third option (Open resource pool read-write
and all other sharer files into a new master project file.) Then run
the Resource Usage Report from the master project file.
