    - 2007 to 2003 Is there an easy way for someone who has not upgraded to MS Project 2007 (and is using 2003 version) to view a 2007 project in the 2003 version? I read one of the responses where have to apply SP3 and the link to download was provided but could the user just use the "save as" command and save as 2003 version?     - Undo project level enterprise custom field changes Hi, In Project 2007, I have defined a number of project level enterprise fields, used to track things like the customer and project status. Some of these have lookup tables, some are free text. Users change the value of these fields via the Project Information Form. If the user changes a free text field and presses OK, they get an entry under the Edit menu "Undo Project Information". However, if they change a field that has a lookup table, no such undo option is created. If they change a free text field and a lookup table field, and press "Undo Project Information", the free text field is undone, but the lookup table field change is not. Is this a known bug?     - Inserting blank column I would like to insert a blank column in a project I'm working on (free form fields so that I can list the Manager's name and then show each person working on specific task assigned to that manager). Would like to be able to provide additional sort capabilities. How do I do this? The one posting and subsequent response on inserting a blank column was vague as far as how to actually do it.     - Customized Fields in Enterprize Global I was using one of my projects to try out a Custom Field to make sure it was working correctly. Once that was done I checked out my Enterprise Global, then went back to the local project and opened the Organizer to copy the Field into the Ent. Global. I got an error message that said, "Only Enterprise Fields are customized and stored in the ent. global. Use Import Custom Field or Import Outline Code to import definitions into the ent. global." Then I tried this by just checking out the ent. global and importing the formula from the custom field in the local project but got another error message..."The formula cannot be saved because it refers to a non-enterprise custom field." Then I tried to just check out the Ent. Global an create the Custom Field directly instead of copying it. The Tools-->Customize-->Fields.. was grayed out not allowing me to even make a Custom Field in the Enterprise Global. I'm just trying to use a simple formula to show me a duration in days by subtracting one date from another.     - Default Column Width I have a file (an .mpp file and all of its successors) where the Predecessor and Successor columns are always set to a width of 128 when the file opens, and I need to resest them to something that allows me to see other columns. I have tried several methods of setting and saving the width of these two columns, but haven't found the correct combination yet. Other files are not effected. Suggestions?     - What the limitation within MS Project 2003? I'm currently using MS Project 2003 and have a master plan which is made up of 6 others, all cross linked and accumulating to some 13,000 lines of activity.     - Resource Usage - Remaining Work I have created a schedule named resource pool so that my mangers can view and plan remaining work for all schedules. My problem is that the resource usage view shows remaining work on some schedules (sometimes several months in the future) although the actual schedules have zero hours work remaining.     - Using Test Styles after using Manual Text Formating Project 2003 Standard I had been formatting text in the table area using the manual test format option. Now I am trying to format the Text in the Table area using the Text Styles option. This seems to work only for the activities that i had not previously manually formatted!     - status date (proj pro 2007) I can't seem to figure out how to use the status date to adjust tasks....and I think this is something I can use....so I want to learn...from the project help file I can see how this should change my tasks. I went to Project/Options/Calculation and selected - move end of completed parts after status date back to status date -- and move start of remaining parts back to status date - move start of remaining parts before status date forward to status date -- and move end of completed parts forward to status date my project start date is 10/31, current date is 11/7, and status date is 1/14. when I enter progress on a task as percent complete the task completed work or remaining work does not get adjusted around the status date according to the project/options/calculation settings.     - Preventing changes to planned work in Server 2007 Hi, I'm new to project and I manage all of the support tasks for the resources in my company. I have the tasks set to fixed duration without effort driven. If the resource doesn't apply time towards the tasks, the planned work will accumulate and the finish date will move further out.     - custom ent field names in 2007 when building formulas None of the custom cost field names appear when selecting fields within enterprise custom cost or enterprise project custom cost during the formula building process. For example, I have a custom pwa cost field for "unit vac" but I only see the standard enterprise custom (or project custom) cost 1 through 10.     - Enterprise Custom Fields in Templates in MSP 2003 We are creating project plans using a PDS call through MS project webservices. We are passing the name of the project plan, the start date, and the template name to be used to generate the project plan. The enterprise task custom field values that we set in the template are not being populated after the project has been created via the PDS call. If I select the template via 'New, On My Computer, Enterprise Template' the enterprise task custom field values are populated.     - WBS numbering error I'm working a schedule where I've included WBS numbering. For some reason the last 54 tasks out of 1312 are one level off (one level lower). If I insert a column with Outline Numbering, the Outline numbering reflects correctly. I've used Help and can not reach a resolution. Tried PROJECT>WBS>RENUMBER however the RENUMBER is grayed out.     - Actuals in the projectfile not equal to the actuals in the timeshe Hi, We are using project server 2003 with SP2a running on windows server 2003. Last week we found out that in all most all plans (70 in all and 2 admin projects) other than some 7 project plans the actuals in the projectfile and the actuals in the timesheet of the employees are not matching. In few cases the timesheet hours are more and in others it is vice versa. We are using project server for project planning for almost 3 years now and we have found out mismatch of this proportion only now. There is no specific pattern of mismatch either related to admin projects only or in specific projects. It is there in all most all project plans. Could someone please throw some light on how this could have happened? The varied reasons and how this can be eliminated in the existing system or if not possible to eliminate in the existing system suggest few good practices so that this situation will not arise in the future? Assign this task a deadline with date december 30th, 2007 Strange issue: 1. Mark this task completed for 75% Questions 1. Why does this task suddenly end AFTER december 31th, 2007? 2.     - Project Costs I am getting inconsistent project costs. I run a report for project cost and I get one result. I run a custom resource cost report and I get a different total cost.     - Changing units from percentage to hours I can not for the life me find out how switch percentages to hours. My resources charge and work per hour, as I would believe most resources do. So if I have a task thatâ??s 3 days, how can I assign a resource to the task for 5 hours. I could obviously calculate what percentage of 3 business days 5 hours is (20.83333%) , but I have hundreds of resources and hundreds of tasks.     - Using % Physical Complete and Have Summary Progress Hello - I want to use the Physical % Complete column to calculate EVM because it is a better gauge of task completion. It is also the only field that I've found that doesn't automatically calculate the actual cost based on time. I enter resource hours on a daily basis to track actual costs. Any suggestions on how to keep % progress independent from the actual hours I enter and still show a summary level progress?     - Material Resource Cost I am trying to include a material resouce that adds a cost of $0.82 per hour of work to all work resources on my project. I have defined a material resource with a rate of $0.82 and applied it to all tasks with units 1/h. This calculates the cost for this material based on the project duration - I need it to get it to calculate based on worked hours. The best I can come up with is to change my work resources rate to increase by $0.82. I don't like this because I would like to group that cost with other material costs not labor costs.     - Printing a Gantt chart with tasks that are complete identified I have a simple project where all tasks are just milestones (please don't ask why-the customer wants it this way). I would like to have a way to indicate when these tasks are completed and have it show in the Gantt with a color change or something. Also I'd like to show it completed with a color change in the task information sheet-so when it is printed it is obvious what tasks are completed and what ones are still outstanding. Any help?     - URGENT! - Setting Overnight Working Hours MSP 2002 SP-1: I'm managing a project in US EST time zone with resources in India, one of which works 9pm EST the day before thru 6am EST. I'm trying to adjust the resource's calendar to reflect his working hours and the app is not letting me. I keep getting a pop up stating "end time cannot start before start time" because I'm doing 9:30pm-2:am and 2:30am-6:00am. Do I have to enter it as 12am-6am and 9:30pm-12pm? Will that accurately reflect his work schedule? I switched his calendar to base it on a 24-hr calendar and it still doesn't let me put "overnight" working hours. How do I do this? I have to report the timeline today and I just can't figure it out. We're on a very tight schedule for this project. And they just changed their shift starting tomorrow so I have to make this change reflect so we know what our timeline looks like going forward.     - Project 2003 Hello, I am using Project 2003; and when I try to open a recent file that I have been working on it throws me an error. -Verify that all argument names and values are correct and are of the correct type. -You may have run out of memory. To free up available memory, close programs, projects, or windows that yo aren't using. What is confusing is that it opens up on most other computers. Granted, this is a new machine but it is running on the same version. Sometimes it opens sometimes it doesn't.     - Dotted line on Gantt Chart A lot of my tasks in the Gantt chart are given dotted line "tails" when I level - that is, there's a dotted line leading from nothing to the task. ie. I can do this by adding a text field and manually entering yes or no based on completion, but I am hoping there is an automated way to generate the yes or no.
