We have a file that is about 5 MB and about 3200 lines. we cannot preview it
nor we can print it. I have tried to just print 5 sheets or even 2 sheets at
a time, it gives me out of memory error. Any ideas or suggestion would highly
be appreciated.
I am not an expert at all. I am IT guy who is trying to help someone who is
just learning Project.
Is there a way to break it down to smaller chunks and still link tasks from
one project to another?

Hi Neshra,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :-)

I have no experience in printing out such a huge project, but you might like
to see FAQ Item: 18. Memory Problems.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :-)

I've had a similar issue -- especially when printing a large master
project. I've found the best way around this was printing the
schedule to PDF (assuming you have Adobe Acrobat). Then you can print
all you want from the pdf version.

I later tracked down part of my memory issue to filters that I had
saved in the schedule. Can't explain why, but the removal of the
custom filters improved performance.

Thank you Mike and JB for the replies.
After increasing VM to whopping 75 GB I still got "out of memory error".
Some girl at our office found out if we remove all the dependency vertical
lines in the chart and just leave it with horizontal graph and dates it
prints no problem.
I guess there were too many vertical lines trying to go up and down and
confused the hell out application.
The file is now up to 5000 lines and 8 MB and it is still growing.
Best regards,
