Macros are not visible from the other machine
I have created 'macros' and saved them globally with the

I need to hide some Flag1 tasks which are proprietary and very sensitive in nature. No problem. The situation is I don't want anyone else who has access to this schedule to be able unhide and view these flagged tasks. Can I have Fixed "work" after recording actuals
I have a resource that I have split between three
different task items that run at the same time. For
planning purposes I allocated the task as follows.
Task A: 50%
Task B: 35%
Task C: 15%.
Lets assume this is one resource and all three tasks have
a duration of 2 weeks. So the allocations are
4 hours for task A
2.8 hours for task B
1.2 hours for task C.
This is the planned allocation of work for this resource.
When I get the actual hours for day 1, 2 and 3. Lets
assume the resource puts in
5 hours for task A
2.8 hours for task B
.2 hours for task C
for all three days.
Is there any way to keep task C (only) from not changing
the "planned" hours of work for the rest of the duration?
I ask this because task C is really a "Support Role"
task. The task does not have a set number of hours, I am
just reserving 1.2 hours for support functions, I only
want to allocate the 1.2 hours a day, regardless of how
much was used the previous day. For task A and B, I want
it to account for what has already been done, so I am okay
with how that works. It's just task C I want to have
fixed "work" no matter what the actual work done was. Is
there any way to do this? Tag: Print showing outline symbols Tag: 62251

How to view assignments that are slipping
Good Morning:
Is there a way to show all assignments that are past the
finish date. For example, if Task1 is 80% complete and
the finish date is less than today's date how can I get
these tasks to show in a different color. Can this be
done automatically in MSProject 2000 or do I need to write
a Macro. If a macro is needed does anyone have an example?

general schedule tracking question
I have set a baseline for my project and have been tracking progress. I have had tasks that have slipped so there ar
new start and finish dates which have been adjusted by project. Project automatically makes the "actual start" and
"actual finish" equal to the start and finish dates. This is really confusing because it looks like tasks may be completing.
Is there a way to control this so the actual start and finish are empty or "NA" until I actually go in and update them.
I know project will assume the task has started if the start date has passed is there a way to control this or at least control the finish date to not be set until I enter the date

Linking hours into Excel, without the 'h'
Hi
I link data from my project plan into excel to do some
resource demand forcasting, or rather I'd like to, but
when I copy the hours against a task into my Excel sheet,
it includes the 'h' against the number to signify hours.
I need to get rid of this, as it wont allow the formulae
to carry out any number crunching on that cell with a
letter in it.
Any ideas? Do I need to put a custom field into project
that just shows the number of hours without the 'h'? If
so - how?!?!

export Start/Finish Time (not Date)
How can I export (e.g. to excel) the start/finish TIMES that MS project calculates automatically (based on dependencies, the calendar settings etc). I know how to export the start/finish dates : choosing the "microsoft project field" called "start" and "finish", but there is no such field for the start/finish times (e.g. at what time during the day is a task planned to start and stop). Is it possible to get those times exported, next to the dates ? Tag: Print showing outline symbols Tag: 62227

Actual Work / Work / Baseline Work
Hi All
'Actual work' is work actually performed and "Work" is the total work that
was/is scheduled. If the project baseline is saved at the start of the
project, the 'work baseline' equals the scheduled 'work'.
I have been trying out scenarios and noted when the 'actual work' is greater
than the baseline (and the baseline is equal to the 'work') the 'work' is
adjusted to the same total as 'actual work'. Is this correct?
If so, how do I show the extra hours of 'actual work' performed over and
above the baseline? Surely this would impact on my earned value, I am
assuming earned value is calculated from baseline figures, and any variance
of 'actual work' / work is reported against the baseline.
Can someone please provide some guidance?

Problem displaying Images/Pictures: Red "X" in IE
I have a computer that is acting strange, it is
displaying "Submit Status Report" improperly. Three
Red "X" are placed where the edit window boxes are.
Therefore the user cannot write or edit Status Report.
But every where else are working fine. I did the Q283807

The step 1, I looked at the properties and the "Type" is
showing "Unknown"
The system does not have any firewall/proxy installed.
One step I did not understand, the step 3 mentions Toggle
Images.exe on the "Link" toolbar. I couldn't find it.
The computer has Windows XP SP1 + IE 6 SP1 and all the
Windows Updates installed. There is nothing to update.
I have also tried to login as different user, same problem.
Any idea/links/solutions are welcome. Thanks all.

Creating a custom Report
I am trying to create a report that shows a specific milestone for multiple projects. In other words - my schedule file is comprised of multiple small projects. However, there are several milestones that are common to all of the projects. What I want is to able to create a report that shows when each milestone (Ex. PDR) is going to occur. The only columns I am interested in having is the Task Name column, start & finish. This seems like it should be easy, but I am getting a lot of columns that I do not want. Also, I do have a filter so that my Gantt view will only display these milestones

Actul Work / Work - changes duration
Hi
I've noted that if I go back to a task and try to change the hours MS
Project provides a warning "The resource is assigned outside the original
dates for task 1 ... blah blah in project. The duration of the
fixed-duration task will change to accommodate the resource assigned."
In my project MS Project assigns resource automatically. Therefore, if a
fixed-duration task for a period of 1 day requires 16 hours MS Project will
assign 2.0 / 200%.
However, if I try to change the number of hours or if the actual working
time is greater, MS Project plays with the duration rather than the resource
allocation.
I'm sure this is a standard issue, and I should like (Steve suggests in my
previous post) know more about the resource on the project... But given the
task is fixed-duration, I would have assumed the resource allocation would
increase accordingly to ensure the completion date is not compromised.
I'm doing something wrong (again)?

Date Formulas
First I appreciate all of the tips I have picked up here along the way...been a lurker for quite some time.
Now the real deal, I'm trying to write a formula to generate a day calculation based on the finish date of a task and the start date of "task 1". Basically, imagine task one as being a contract award date in its finish field and I want all of the subsequent tasks to calculate their finish dates into the number of days since task ones finish...a "days after contract award" field basically

Updating Actual Work
Hi-
I work in a software development company. We have a custom-developed
software package (called BTR) to track enhancement requests/bugs for our
software products. Our developers log the time they spent working on the
enhancement requests/bugs into this custom system. We log out time in here
because there are financial reports that this system generates for costing
purposes.
For each new release of our software, we take the list of enhancements/bugs
from BTR and create an MS Project file to manage the project. Each
enhancement/bug fix is a task in MS Project. Every week we run a report out
of BTR to get the actual values worked on the different enhancements and
hand update the actual work values in the Project file.
There has got to be a better way.
1) Can MS Project import actual work values from a text file?
2) Can you access the Project database programmatically to add the actual
work data?
Also, if option 2 is the better method, can someone recommend some good
resources on MS Project development?

Wrong work in summary tasks
I have installed Project 2000 and I have the following
problem: In summary tasks the calculation of the work
does not consider the allocation of resources to the own
task summarize (but, it does it for the calculation of

of the double of the real one).
I've installed the SP1 but the problem continues.
