Hello,
Our company uses 80% project related time. The remainder is admin and
out of project work. No matter what % of time you choose for your
team, I'd recommend you change the Project Working Hours in the
project calendar and the time in the Change Working Time section.
This will make your life a lot easier when you need to use resources
part time.
For example, if you are using 80% project related time on a 40 hour
work week, that is about a 6 hours of effort per day.
Change working time Tools -- Change working time... to 8:00am12:00pm
and 1:00pm to 3:00pm.
Change the project calendar Tools -- Options --- Calendar to the same
times noted above.
Note>>> These two areas must be in sync for your project estimates to
work properly>>>
MS Project uses the Working Time option for conversion purposes only.
For example, using the working times above 1w=32h hours.
By changing the working time in the calendar, MS Project uses these
settings to schedule 32 hours of effort into 7 working days.
If you choose to go the other route of changing the available working
hours to 80%, things can get confusing when you have people working
various % of time on different tasks.
Just a suggestion.
Good luck with your proposal.
