    - avoid new baseline Hi As you know, the PMs can save anytime the baseline. It is ofcource important that the PM saves the basline befor publishing the project and do not make anychange if is is not necessary, so that the directors can check everything (for examle with portfolioanalyser) I noticed that some of our PMs reflesh the baseline althought it is not necessary. Because of that we see as if everthing is always OK. So I want to avoid that the PMs save the baseline more times. I mean They should do it jsut one time in the phase of planning. and after publishing they should not do this again.. Is that possible? Thanks.     - Multiple projects across multiple resources i'm looking for a way to display multiple projects run across multiple resources. I'm more interested in tracking the projects at the highest level, not the individual tasks. Example: i have 4 projects, A, B, C and D running at different times in 3 different areas, Dallas, Atlanta and Chicago. I'd like to see a comprehensive calendar/schedule that shows when the 4 projects are occurring across the 3 locations. Also, the projects could, and will be, sporadic, meaning that if Project A takes 2 weeks to complete, it might not be 2 weeks in succession. So Dallas might be on project A for 2 days, off for 3 days, and back on for 8 days. The same would apply across all projects and all areas.     - Deploy forms and modules and adding custom Menu Bar I have developed a series of modules and forms and use them in MS Word and MS Excel and want to use them in MS Project. In word I have a .dot file in the startup folder that loads the modules and forms using the AutoExec() sub, it loads a custom Menu Bar (on top between File and Edit), I want to do the same thing in MS Project. To automatically load the custom Menu Bar, I was using the Project_Open in the ThisProject ProjectGlobal and that works great. I was going to use the set up GLOBAL.MPT in combination with the appropriate registry key to initiate the automate upgrade feature and that copies over the modules and the forms just fine with very little user intervention but it doesn't seem to copy over the Project_Open Sub in the ThisProject object.     - Deadline indicators in HTML output MS Project adds a reverse font red exclamation point in a red diamond to the Indicator column when a set deadline is missed. However, when I save that file as an HTML and include the Indicator column in the map, the column is present but empty of any information (which are all icons in MSP). Having also included the Deadline as a separate column in the HTML map, those Deadline dates are present. Is there a way to indicate a missed deadline in HTML format without the reader having to compare the Finish and Deadline dates?     - One resource - lots of tasks Hi - I'm wondering whether you can help me. I want to keep track of a number of projects where I am the sole resource. However, being fairly new to Project, I'm not quite sure how to do this. Obviously, I can only work on one project at a time, although I will be swapping between projects fairly often as information etc becomes available.     - TASK_FINISH_VAR field Hi there. I generate a report within MS Access that reaches out to MS Project mpd tables. When I calculate the Finish variance in Access (by subtracting TASK_FINISH_DATE and TASK_BASE_FINISH) it produces the number of days difference, but also includes weekend days. I noticed the the Finish Var field when displayed in Project's Baseline View, shows the varinance in days excluding the weekends and holidays. Is there a way to format the TASK_FINISH_VAR field in my Access report the same way, or am I going to have to write code in Access to calculate the days and exclude the weekend days?     - Simple project template When Project Management came out, 15-20 years ago, can't remember the name but it wasn't Microsoft, there was a template for a simple project, disregarding the complex issues involved in a real project. PM gradually became a very specialized field and the marketing has written off ordinary people as if they did not need to plan their activities, which they mostly don't (shame). I do have Win Project 2003 (for some strange reason I won't go in here) and I used to work with it, mainly in a supervising capacity. There are situations in my daily (retired) life where I can use something simple (because of progressive forgetfulness) to plan an activity/project. Setting up a new project in WinProject seems too much of a hassle, unless I can use some template, which I recall existed way back then.     - Shared and unshared resources I have several projects that share some resources (mainly personnel) but not others (mainly project specific materials and equipment).     - % Complete, actual finish dates, and predecessors I'm having trouble getting Project to properly update my start and finish dates when I set a task to 100% complete. I've set up my gantt chart view to show columns for percent complete and actual finish dates. In my Project training course, I was told that if I set a task to 100% complete, Project would automatically assume today's date as the actual finish date, but this is not happening. Instead the actual finish date is being recorded as the regular finish date that was first estimated. I want it to automatically record the current calendar date as the actual finish date when I set a task to 100% complete. I also want the start date of the task that is being set to 100% complete to remain fixed, and the duration to adjust accordingly. THEN I want the start dates of all subsequent linked tasks to update based on the actual finish date of the predecessor. Can someone help me with this?     - Invisible Constraint? One of our PMs sent me an interesting project to look at yesterday. The project was a modified version of one of our templates. The template consists of ~50 tasks linked together, but without durations, work or resources. All tasks are fixed units, effort driven, ASAP tasks with no constraints. Not all tasks are linked together leading to groups of tasks linked to one another independent of other groups of tasks. Our PM had deleted some of the template tasks he didn't need, preserving the links among a particular group of linked tasks. When the PM started adding work and resources, the duration of one of a group of 14 tasks changed from 1 day to 2 days (the 3rd task in the group if it makes a difference). When the task duration changed, Project Pro threw an error saying that "the task could not be completed in the time allocated because there is a scheduling conflict between this task and another one to which it is linked". Total slack for this task and the others in its linked group went from 31.5 days to -1 days. I checked for constraints on the linked tasks, there were none. Some tasks had resources, some did not. What I did to fix the problem was as follows: 1) disconnect the predecessor of the last task in the group (that task had no successor), 2) change the duration of the first task in the linked group from 0.5 days to 1 day, then back to 0.5 days. 3) reconnect the last task. Then the duration of the task that originally caused the trouble (or any other in the group) could be changed at will without any error messages.     - Gantt row height I have five projects that are interlinked. Although the procedure for changing the Gantt row heights is quite simple and understood, one of the mpp files refuses to let me minimize the row height presenting the rows twice the height as the others. Hi..
Its possible..
If you now give the duration automatic in hours then that means in your
standard settings the durationstarndsrt in hour.
So make the the standart entry for the duration as day. Noe if you enter
the duration it will be automatic day for all tasks..If you give the duration
for subtasks hour (MANUAL for examle task1: 16 h) then you will have the
duration of substaks hor and the duration of summaray task in day..
