Is there a simple way of highlighting current (on-going) tasks in the task
list?

I'd like to see (in the Gantt chart view) the tasks that are presently being
worked on.

Cheers.

Do you mean tasks that have start and finish dates before and after today?
If so, try building a filter.

Click on Project | Filter | More Filters ...
select "In Progress Tasks" and click on the Highlight button.

The default display for highlighted tasks is, I believe, blue text (as
opposed to black text). You can change this by clicking on

Format | Text Styles ...
select "Highlighted Tasks" in the 'Item to Change' dropdown box and then
set your text parameters. Please note that you can select the text font,
style, size and colour but you cannot select the background for the cell.
