    - Master Project with imbedded subprojects-problem displaying resour Have an MS Project 'Master' Plan that includes subprojects imbedded within it. These subprojects comme in by pointing to a separate subproject file. Both the master and the subprojects use the same resource list. Reources are assigned in the subproject tasks and in the higher lever master plan tasks. The % complete is also assigned in subproject tasks. When I bring in the subprojects, the resources and the % complete do not appear, but they are there in the separate subproject file.     - Column for % Complete As Scheduled Is there a column that calculates/captures the % Complete value of a task if it were "Updated As Scheduled". I know about the "Update as Scheduled" status feature on the Tracking toolbar, but thought if this value was captured in a column then it would be very useful in comparing actual % Complete with the % Complete if the task were on schedule (a third column could be used to calculate the difference in values). I thought this would be useful to point out activities in which the planned finish date is unrealistic given how far behind the progress is against the activity.     - Does 'Save' also 'Publish' a schedule? I have been told that selecting "Save" saves a schedule and also publishes the tasks to the resources. Does anyone know if this is a true statement?     - Multiline field for text display in rollup summary I have a rollup summary task which displays the milestones in the rollup. For each milestone I can assign a "top" label in the rollup that includes a particular field, say the name. However, I would like this text label to include both the field and the start date. Yes, I can display one on the top and the other on the bottom, but I'm already using the bottom for something else. Is there a way to have a particular field label display multiple lines?     - Fixing Weekly Hours on a Task Hi Is there any wak of fixing the weekly work hours and duration on a task regardless of what actual hours have been entered for previous weeks on that task. Example Task 1 has a duration of 4 weeks. Resource A is assigned for 40 hrs for the task (2 hrs per day) Resource A enters 8 Hrs for week 1 (10 hrs expected) Results - With fixed Duration - All future days are now at 2.13hrs With Fixed Units - Has extended task by one day With Fixed Work - Has extended task by one day This is what I would have expected, but is there a way to keep all future hrs and duration as planned rather than project automatically recalculating this for me?     - Is there a template for a multi-faceted event? My boss tasked me with putting together a flow chart and benchmark schedule for our company. I would like to start with the primary work of our company, and that is putting on expos for trade organizations. My question: Is there a template I can use as a starting place for putting together such a timeline and work flow chart? Also, is it possible to use a "completion date" that is not the end of the expo, but several months out? Because some of what we do is wrapped up several weeks after the expo is held (like billing, booking for next year, getting feedback, etc.).     - Displaying resource assignment at the summary task level Hi, I have a project with several levels of detail, on the top level I have four summary tasks WP1 to WP4, these have summary tasks below them etc. At the lowest level are the actual tasks (well.. obviously) I have 4 resources working in my project, the project runs over several years. What I would like is to see how many hours each resource is to work in some year at the topmost summary level. In other words, I need MP to generate information like John 2006 2007 WP1 2 10 WP2 10 100 WP3 30 5 WP4 10 10 Lisa WP1 60 30 etc I tried the resource usage wiew setting the "assignements keeping outline structure", but the problem is that it seems impossible to make reports on a summary task basis, you have to expand to the level just above the final task level to see any numbers for actual work.     - Managing an IT Department with Project I am an IT Manager recently promoted to CIO. I have always used Project to manage discrete projects, but have struggled to find a way to utilise it to keep tabs on all the activities a busy internal IT function undertakes. The need to do this in my new role is more pressing then ever. My IT division does development and maintenance on in-house core business apps, dev and maintenance on applications developed for our customers (both windows and web) and technical support for all of this.     - 'Old' tasks conflicting after Master & subord. projects moved I have built several individual project files and then a Master Project with a shared resource pool. Everything seems to be OK. Then I moved these files into a subdirectory from where they used to be. Now, when I level, I'm seeing tasks on Resource Usage view that are duplicates of the 'real ones'. A problem that I've noticed is that constraints (Must Start/Finish No Later Than) appear to be imposed.     - Calculate difference between dates I have Deadlines set on some Tasks and I am trying to calculate the difference in Calendar/Elapsed Days (ie not from the project calendar or any of the others) between the Finish (Actual or Planned) and the Deadline. More specifically, I only want to see a result, preferably a negative number only, for those Tasks which have Deadlines and which are Finishing Later than the Deadline. First, I would settle for positive and negative results, but I don't want to see #ERROR in the calulated field if there is no Deadline set for that Task. Have tried using both a spare Duration Field and a spare Text field. Have tried IIf Deadline = NA (or "NA" or "") then "", else DateDiff("d",Deadline, Finish) Have also tried getting a Flag field to read the Deadline field and go Yes/No (to help the calculation in the other field) depending on whether a Deadline is set, ie Yes if Deadline <> "" or Deadline <>"NA" or Deadline > some Date. Everything I use to try to return a blank for no Deadline set, instead returns #ERROR It never gets as far as the test.     - Have Windows Explorer give error ID's on errors Explorer will not let me rename or delete sometimes. There are no other programs running and the error is generic, not specific. Why can't it give the program which "has" it? The only way to do the rename and delete is to turn the PC off and start it up again. A restart will not do the job. Maybe this is a new feature! But, it sure slows down work progress. Where do I want to go? I just want to be able to use explorer as I used to. My systen changes functionality and all I do is try to work on it.     - New Microsoft Project Pro 120 day trial disk states expired I installed my trial software and on first boot, error stated program expired. I followed the troubleshooting for Project 2002, which is go into the registry and click on first boot and change the value from 0 to 1. The 1 will not stay, after changing the value to 1 and exit out I ran the program again with same error. I have admin rights for my own system. The techs for the publisher are no help. I have loaded other 120 trial software before with no problems including an older version of Project. After each expired I would go through control panel and uninstall the program. Is there a way to change a project from 'administrative' back to a normal
project? The checkbox is checked indicating the project is administrative,
when in fact it is not supposed to be. The checkbox is greyed out, so even
if I do a 'Save' I am unable to change it. Any help would be appreciated.

In the future, please post your Project Server questions to the
microsoft.public.project.server newsgroup, as this newsgroup is dedicated to
the Microsoft Project desktop application only. To answer your question,
no, there is no way to do this. I believe the best you can do is to save it
as an .mpp file, delete it from the Project Server database, and then import
it using Tools - Enterprise Options - Import Project to Enterprise. Hope
