    - How do I make every new Outlook folder the same format? Every time I create a new folder in Outlook, it defaults to a format with a lot of unnecessary fields.     - Renaming Baseline Fields Hi All, I need to change the names for all baseline fields to projected fields, for example: Baseline Finish becomes Projected Finish Baseline Duration -> Projected Duration Baseline Cost -> Projected Cost Etc. I tried creating a Custom Date (Date1) with the formula [Baseline Finish], but this populates the field with NA instead of a date. The only way I've been able to get this to work is by saving an Interim plan and renaming the Finish and Start fields, but this is not ideal because: 1) The reference manually I'm using says to not use Interim plans anymore. 2) It doesn't address baseline cost, etc. How should I do this?     - How to wrap words in Task Name, Text columns ? I know there is an option to wrap word in the heading fields of each column.     - Weekends Help! Project Standard 2003, No project server... I have a multi-project schedule, with one resource pool... I am trying to schedule weekends for 3 particular resources inside of one project. I am going to Tools | Change Working Time, and choosing the proper resource(s) from the 'For' pulldown. I am then setting the weekend days to working days by selecting them, choosing 'non-default working time' entering the weekend working hours accordingly.     - Custom Calendar for Tasks Hi All, I have a task that can only be done on the 1st or 3rd Tuesday of every month and I need to set up a custom calendar or something to limit it to this. Here's a generic version of my tasks. Task 1 - planning. Task 2 - commission meeting (this is the task that only happens on the 1st or 3rd tuesday) Task 3 - construction. So if planning (Task 1) goes past the 1st tuesday of the month, then task 2 needs to be pushed back to the 3rd tuesday of the month. Is there any way to do this?     - How do I save e-mail to server for multi-users? We have XP and Outlook 2003 and have set up several users on the same computer. When checking e-mail, each user would like to see all the e-mail that has come in, but the first person to access e-mail gets to see the e-mail and no one else does.     - view limitations Hi all, I've added some custom fields to assign to detail lines (specifically used to record a "Timesheet Project" code to which costs for the task will be charged). It's allowing me to group/report/manipulate based on cost centres, but only to a point. One of the key reporting requirements I have is to report on work remaining in upcoming months, per project, per resource, etc. The Resource Usage view is great for this, except that my custom 'Timesheet Project' (of which there may be three or four in a single *.mpp) fields are task fields, and as such I can't group by these in the Resource Usage view. So I'm using the Task Usage view. The limitation here is that if I have a task which has multiple resources assigned, and I group by project & resource, I get a group heading for the combined resource effort, and need to manually split the time between the resources. Also, I find it infuriating that the timephased views have Work, Actual Work (and even Cumulative Work!) but no Remaining Work (despite Remaining Work being available in other views...).     - Printing "more items" How do I print an additonal page of the calendar that would show the "more items" list that don't fit into the calendar formated for printing.     - Circular Relationship error Has anyone encountered this error message in MS Project Professional 2003 before? If so, any idea how to correct it? ====================================================== No calculations can be performed now. There is a circular relationship in task 72 Conversion Enhancements of "project name.published". The successors of this task refer back to this task or its predecessors, causing a circular reference. To remove the link that is causing the circular reference, select the two tasks that are causing the circulare link, and then click Unlink Tasks on the Standard Toolbar. ======================================================= This project does not have any successors or predecessors listed for any task.     - establish a predecessor on a split task I have tasks in a project that needed to be split to accommodate tasks that took higher priority. Is it possible to set a predecessor on the second half of the split task so if the higher priority task completes early the split task is moved back as in a finish to start relationship? Or does it make more sense to end the incomplete task earlier and add a new task for the remainder of the incomplete task and have that dependent on the higher priority task?     - Project 2003 Email Form Issues When I attempt to open an email sent using project 200 3, it opens using excel, versus the the specialized project e-mail form. The e-mail is sent when I ask for project updates, progress info, etc from team members. I can see the correct info. Do I have the association incorrect. If so, how do I correct it?     - Creating Formulas in Enterprise Custom Fields Hello, I have been creating 'basic' formulas using Enterprise Custom Project Fields. I have been somewhat successful until now. I have created a custom field called "Average Project Rate". I am using the following formula: [Enterprise Project Cost1]/[Baseline Work] Please note: Enterprise Project Cost1 is a custom field called "Contract Value". The PM will enter in the contract value when the schedule is first created. The sample I have setup will not calculate the above formula correctly: Project1: Enterprise Project Cost1 = $100.00 Baseline Work = 5 hrs Contract Value = 0.33 I am not sure how it is calculating 0.33 within the "Contract Value" Field. The value should be $20.00. I was fooling around with the formula to try and understand how it works. I tried [Contract Value] / [Baseline Cost] and this calculated correctly.     - Earned Value and Baselines Hi All I have a series of master schedules rolled up containing many sub-projects and a resource pool. Works well. Using 2002 Std.. The schedules are all resourced and baselined. Some 700 separate project/activities, all resourced/ quoted and baselined separately; rolled up by team. My new boss wants Earned Value (CPI and SPI) for YTD from 1/10/03 to now. I said no problems, but the problem is I haven't had costings for the resources included in the original baselines, only working days effort. Project requires that the hourly or daily rates be populated before baselining for it to be reflected in EV.. By including pay rates in Resource Sheet I can handle from now forwards but I am wondering how I can get the history. I can obviously re-baseline but that would clobber the original baselined data. From which SLAs and performance bonuses are based. Even using baseline 1.2. etc wouldn't be any good, as I believe BCWS and BCWP don't target those fields.     - update task start dates to reflect today's date for tasks that have not begun? Hello: (I cannot seem to Google the answer to this simple question. Apologies if it's an FAQ.) I have a non-critical task #123 with no predecessors, set to begin on January 1st, with a constraint to finish no later than January 30th. On January 15th, when I open up Project to update progress, that task has still not begun. What is the best practice recommended way to ask Project to update everything, so that my printout I take to the team members reflects that task #123 will actually start somewhere between [today] and [finish no later than], assuming that's still possible? In essence, I want Project to update scheduled start dates to reflect reality. Is this a feature I'm overlooking? I know I could manually change the start dates, but I would rather that Project updates them everywhere. Resource Levelling doesn't seem to factor in today's date. Should I change the project start date to today? (An example of what task #123 might be is "Buy pens and pencils" for my new business. There's no real predecessor to buying it, it's not critical, it's not high priority, it's just another small task that is finish-to-finish with the overall project.)     - Problem calculating Finish Date When I enter an amount of work for a task, and assign a resource, it calculates the duration and finish date correctly, based on an 8 hour day. When I change the Project working time to a 48 hour week and a 9.6 hour day, Project recalcuates duration correctly, but does not change the finish date. The finish date is always based on an 8 hour day regardless of the number of hours per day available. How can I get Project to recalculate the finish date of a task based on a 9.6 hour day?     - Summary Task Types Using Project XP and have inserted the column 'Type' into our Gantt Chart as we are modifying the Task Type on some tasks and want to be able to view that information. Should there be a legitimate entry in the Type column next to a Summary Task? I'm finding that if my project is set to the default of Fixed Duration and I enter new tasks into a new project and then outline them, the Summary Task always displays 'Fixed Duration' in the Type column and the subtasks display 'Fixed Unit'. And the Summary Task 'Type' column is not editable. If I change any/all of the subtasks to a different Task Type, the Summary Task remains as a 'Fixed Duration' type. So is this a case where that particular field (Task Type) really doesn't have any relevance to a Summary Task and just always defaults to Fixed Duration and ignores whatever type the subtasks may have?     - Level accross multiple projects My customer needs to level across multiple projects, however he needs to do so while looking at all the projects at the same time in the same Gantt chart. Is putting all the projects (these projects are already published and being edited in PWA by other users) in a master project the only way to do this? If I do that and publish the master project (which would contain all projects in the plant) would this double up all my resources? When users edited info in the individual projects would this automatically update the master projects or does the user have to rebuild the master project every time he wants to level ? Any other suggestions on how to do this are also welcome. Just to clarify the user needs to view all projects in the same chart because they need to make some corporate based decisions as to what gets the priority based on the different projects, there cannot be an automatic or project independent approach to this, he made it very clear that he must be able to see all projects in the same chart while me manually levels Thank you Chris P.S.     - Crosstabulate resources and tasks Can anyone tell me how to see a summed hours crosstabulation of resources on every MAJOR task? This may seem simple but if the resources are not allocated directly on the tasks but rather on the subtasks the program does not seem to know how to sum them up.     - Customised Fields - Date() and Refresh Hi all, I have written a formula for a traffic light process for a customised Number field, and am getting some unexpected results if I change Current Date. I am comparing Baseline Start and Baseline Finish date fields to current date - Date(), and/or % Completes. When testing it, if I change Current Date in Tools/ Current Date it doesn't seem to change the processing logic. Similarly, Status Date changes also seem to be ignored. What is Date().?? Is it Current Date? I want to be able to set current date and produce the traffic light view as at a reporting date. Am I doing something wrong here? Am I using the right field in the formula? In addition, when changing values to test, it appears Project (2002 Std) doesn't refresh the customised field in a consistent way. We can see the data files (time sheets, projects, issues, resources) but we can't see the Project Control Center (Add Project button, Get Project Data button, etc. ) When we try to open the Project Program Manager we get the error, " Visual Basic for Applications Project in database is corrupt" Applied Strategies Tag: FIXES ON POPUPS Tag: 70185

Having installed Service Pack II< I am getting popups. Any fixes.
I have an XP, use IE and Outlook Express. I have Norton Antivirus.
