    - Rsource Graphing Greetings all. I currently operate MSP 2003 pro desktop version. I support a department that has resources working on 11 different projects. I've set up a labor pool and a master project to view all of the projects and resources. I need to be able to generate a summary level, timescaled graph, that indicates the labor allocation, by resource, for selected resources. The graph preferably needs to be a vertical bar type chart with 100% being the upper threshold so that overallocations and underallocations can be easily observed by the department manager. I can easily generate the resource usage sheet in MSP but the department manager wants to see a graph. He does not want to see a stack of graphs (one for each resource) that MSP generates. I beleive I understand from this forum that it is not possible to generate the type of graph I'm seeking in MSP. Looks as if I'll need to send the data to MS Excel which doesn't look too daunting. However, I'd like to automate as much as possible as this graph will be updated frequently. I'm not VBA conversant but am willing to learn. All input is appreciated.     - Adding -ONLY- costs to baseline Hi guys. I need to know if it's possible to add ONLY the costs of my project to a previous saved baseline (that doesn't include them).     - determine latest finish date by milestone Dear all, I need to implement the following scenario: I have an *external* milestone "M1: final system available". This external milestone links into a plan defining and setting up and running the test environment. M1 defines, when the tests have to be finished. Let's say, my plan contains a task "T1: system test". Now, the end date of T1 cannot be later than M1. How do I implement that, so that 1) I get a warning, when my planning causes the Finish Date of T1 to be later than M1 2) warning, if M1 moves forward, so that as a result T1 would be too late. I toyed around with various constraints and task dependencies without success. The easiest would be to feed a deadline on T1 with the date of M1, but that can only be done "by hand" I assume ...     - formula to show text information from sub-level task in summary ta Dear all, I like to do the following: show resource ID's of sub-level tasks also in the summary task so that I am able to show these in the graphical area on summary level. I tried to use a custom field which contains e.g. the information of the standard field "resource ID" but this is only possible in a text field - unfortunately, I did not find a way to customize the field to roll this information up.     - Sometimes she connects sometimes she doesn't... Can anyone help out there....? We have a simple set up for Project Server running on the LAN for 7 users. In Outlook when editing a task, if click 'Update Project Server', It sometimes works without any error. Other times it says 'unable to contact project server'. This would be on the same machine and in the space of 2 minutes. We have been able to reproduce this on other machines so I am at a loss. We've checked the IP, DHCP and DNS configuration and confirm that's fine. The PWA (at the same address) always works witout fail. Also occationsally we get an error from Outlook.     - BCWP Calculation Hi From Microsoft Project 2003 I understand BCWP is calculated as BCWS * % Work Complete. I have the following queries: 1. In the Plan that I have, it is calculated as BCWS * % Complete (not % Work Complete). Even if I change the Default Earned Value Method to Physical % Complete, it still uses % Complete for Calculating the BCWP value 2. Secondly even if % Work Complete is used, why should it be used in BCWP calculations. % Work Complete is calculated as Actual Work / Work * 100. If a resource puts in 100 hours of actual work and out of this 100, say only 75 hours contributes to the original baseline, then % Work Complete value for BCWP calculations should be 75 and not 100. However the way MSP calcultes, there is no difference between ACWP and BCWP. How does MSP distinguish between ACWP and BCWP when whatever Actual Work is charged is accounted in % Work Complete Calculations and consequently in the BCWP calculations.     - Exporting specific data from MSP 2003 to Excel Guys I work in MSp my surveyors work in excel, I want to give them a work package procurement schedule in excel that is based on the MSP procurement schedule. the schedule is a list of activities from tender information through to start on site (sorry for the sucking eggs part, just in case someone didnt get it). I know this can be done with VBA - but I do not know how to programme in VBA and I do not have the time - I am being pressed for some answers. Is there anybidy out there that can give me some coding that would do this?. I know I should go purchase Rods book, but as I have said I am pushed at the moment. MSProject file Hi Having moved an MSProject file to a network share so that my boss could review it whilst I was OOTO, I am now getting an ".....source file contains invalid project data or the total number of rows would exceed the limit of 1048000 rows....     - Fiscal year display in timescale I would like to display fiscal year headings in the timescale in the following way: 2008/9, 2009/10, 2010/11 etc. Does anyone know how I can do this please? I have set the timescale to use fiscal years and have set the fiscal year start month to April.     - Unassigned Tasks - hours showing up in custom view Hi, We use the resource pool to create a customized view which is a report by project. For some reason, this report has been showing unassigned tasks with "work" hours that are not assigned in each individual project plan. When the master is run and left open when running our view out of the resource pool, these unassigned hours go away. The hours go away also when an individual project plan is opened. My questions...     - How do I move an entire group of tasks Hello I am using Project 2007 to help manage Hospital Construction for a contractor. What I am trying to do is move the start date of a group of tasks, either earlier or later, based on changing conditions. If one trade (i.e. plumbing) needs to adjust their schedule, the timing of the group of tasks needs to stay the same (or relatively so), but the tasks do not all occur immediately following one another, this allows time for other trades to perform their work. So if I have 13 tasks spread over 150 days with several 10-20 day time gaps and I need to move the start date earlier, I have to adjust each one individually. I have tried hard and soft constraints, but cannot get that time gap to remain fixed. With thousands of tasks and years on the schedule, this can get a little tedious.     - Earned Values not Calculating With New Baseline I have used MS Project 2007 to create a construction schedule. The schedule is cost loaded, but will not calculate my Earned Values correctly for Task Items that have lag (Ex: 100% Complete, but only 30% of cost is showing) . These lagged items are incomplete work items that have been re-scheduled to start/continue at the next possible date. I have looked at the resources and they show, for example: XYZ [129%].     - Critical Path View Hi, I am currently busy buidling a relatively large and long a project which makes it difficult to view the whole project on the PC screen. If I change the view to show the critical path, only the bars in the Gantt chart change to red. I would appreciate it if someone could help me to change the colour of the tasks in the critical path as well (the wording in the task name spreadsheet column), if this is possible.     - Upgrading Project 2003 Licenses to 2007 I already have a number of Microsoft Project 2003 licenses in use in my UK enterprise but now have a need to upgrade a number of users to 2007 due to a major supplier making the switch and compatibility issues when collaborating on project plans.     - Formula check and indicator anomaly This is Project Pro 2007 with SP1 and several hotfixes (with Project Server), but NOT the infrastructure update yet. The field is an enterprise task field, but my validation is ALL in Project Pro. It doesn't work as expected in the Project Pro client. I have a formula that returns useful information: slippage = finish variance/baseline duration, and it behaves the way I think it should. If I have a negative variance, it gives me a negative result. I then add on graphical indicators with the following order: slippage equals #error = blank slippage less than or equal to 0 = green slippage greater than 0.2 = red slippage less than 0.2 = yellow. I set up 4 tasks of 10 days and baseline them. I display the slippage column and it all glows green. Excellent I change task 1 duration to 11 days and it goes yellow. Excellent I change task 2 duration to 12 days and it goes red. Excellent I remove the baseline from task 3 and it goes blank. Excellent all good. Now I change the duration of task 4 to 8 days, and it goes yellow. WAIT! it's supposed to be green. The FIRST test is less than or equal to zero. Why doesn't that test work? Hello Luis,

I assume you are using Project Server and PWA as you mention
timesheets. I suggest posting your question to the project server
newsgroup for a more detailed answer about using Project Server and
PWA to update progress.
