Compacting time periods

Hi all, I have a project which has a bunch of planning then a gap of
half a year, then the execution of the project.

That makes for a large empty space.

How can I tell Project not to show the empty area, both on the screen
and on the printout?

Nick,
Sorry you can't. Project doesn't have a lot of flexibility in this area.
If you have that large a gap, you might want to consider breaking the
file into two parts, one for the planning phase and a separate one for
the execution phase. You can link tasks between them as necessary.
