    - preserve my dates Hi, hope someone can help, the nature of my project and the groundwork done means that I know all my tasks and start and finish dates, I am working to an end date that cannot move. I have a lot of tasks that must occur simulataneously and no matter what resources are required they will finish on a certain date. I have enetered tasks into Project 2003 and the start & finish dates for each. The purpose being to make it easier to share and relay milestones + highlight reports on activities and progress. I now need to join them (the tasks) up to give me critical path etc and demonstrate dependencies but whenever I do this Project auto finish starts the tasks. This then impact the whole project. They are not all FF, SF, SS or FS, some just overlap and simultaneous items. I don't want to have to lag and lead each line to fit MS Project approach to handling dependencies, it would take ages. Is there a way to make project respect the dates for start and finish that I have enetered and not be too clever, auto lagging or lead where necc but at all times preserve the dates that I have enetered.     - Master / Sub Projects - Help with Setup & Update Process needed Hi all, I have been handed a Project 2002 file that will be used to run a global project and asked to put in an update & control system. I am a planner who is used to Primavera P3. The plan was put together as one project initially, but after reading the posts here and considering the breadth of the project (14 Stakeholders with seperate but linked activities) and the fact that the stakeholders are geographically seperated, I think Sub Projects will be the way to go. My questions are: 1 - How do I separate the one file into the Master (Milestones etc) and the 14 separate Subs? 2 - Does anyone have suggestions / issues / ideas as to how the update process can be completed? The subprojects will have to be emailed out to the stakeholders, updated and then sent back. Unfortunately we are running Lotus Notes (various versions) and so the Outlook integrattion will not be possible.     - Error accessing file. Network connection may have been lost. I exported a macro from one MS Project file & imported it into another. When I have both MS Project files open the macro runs, but it runs form the originating file (updating code reflects the source file). When I try to run it with only the destination file ope I get the message "Error accessing file. Network connection may have been lost'.     - Local user keeps getting the login screen I have seen the posts about McAfee and XP SP2 but this does not apply to me. I have XP SP2 and Symantec and have not seen anyone with the same issue with Symantec. The user cannot login with correct crentials, the login popup keeps returning. If cancel is selected the home screen appears and login popup will appear again. If cancel is selected again the page will feeeze and will have to be closed through task manager. I have tried the same user on a different computer within the office (using XP SP2 and same company wide Symantec) and all worked ok.     - Split/Bottom Screen Filter Hello, here is what am doing: I setup a view of resource graph against a gantt chart to basically show me what is causing my overloads on the resrouce graphs. Project will show me, on the bottom screen gantt chart all tasks that "Resrouce1" is assinged to whem I am looking at Resource1 histogram on the top screen. I am trying to find out if I can apply a filter to the bottom screen to be able to see certain tasks isntead of all the tasks that Resource1 is assigned to.     - Selling OBL of SBS2003, Project, Visio, Office Hello All, Hope it's ok to post this. After using SBS for several years I've decided to simplify life somewhat and go back to a simple peer network. Business hasn't grown much and the server is really more than I need or want to keep up with at this point. I actually switched over last summer to see how it would be (if I would miss anything) and so far I have no regrets. I've already sold the server hardware and now it's time to sell the software. I thought I would post here first before listing it on eBay in case anyone was interested. What I have is an Open Business License (that is transferable) that covers the following products: 1. SBS2000, 5 clients. I have the media for this. 2. SBS Software Assurance (expired 6-30-2004). This allows an upgrade to SBS2003 Premium. I have the media for this, although I never installed it. 3. Project Upgrade Advantage (expired 6-20-2004). This allows older versions of MS Project to upgrade to either Project 2002 or 2003 Professional version. I have the media for Project 2002 Professional and Project 2003 Standard (this was a mistake, I meant to order the Pro version, but forgot to specify which version when ordering and they sent me the std by default :^( ). Also included with this is a "complementary" copy (that's was MS called it) of Project Server 2002 which you can run. 4. Office Professional Software Assurance. This allows old versions of MS Office Pro to upgrade to either Office Pro 2002 or 2003 version. I have the media for both. 5. Visio Professional 2002. I have the media Per the licensing agreement, I have to transfer all the products covered in the OBL. So all of these are being sold together. I think I paid almost $3K for all of this at the time of purchase, so this could be a good deal for someone who needs all of these.     - Urgent: SharePoint team services 2003 and Project 2000 Urgency.... if I can't get this resolved my clients may scrap sharepoint....... with other apps like word, excel, pt, sp team services 03 is having no problems working with office 2000. Project though is giving us a difficult time of it. One client keeps getting into a loop of having to use ctl alt delete to get out of the application no matter what steps are taken to close the app when opened from sharepoint using the click on title method to view only. In explorer view same thing another client from same company same image burn get caught in this loop sometimes. Others have no problems opening in view only On one is able to open in "edit in mode" Can anyone help? This may be a deal breaker whether we go with SharePoint. In other words, build around that one day and take it into account when scheduling. Works fine, but when registering actual work in the Timesheet via the web-interface, there seams to be a max limit on number of workhours allowed pr. task pr. day of 10h.     - Resource Leveling I am working on leveling some resources for a large project. Here is my process. The first pass throught the WBS I linked tasks based on task dependency. Then I went through then I filtered the WBS by each resource and linked all their task Start to Finish. (The intent was to avoid overallocation for the individual resource) I was successfull in my attempt to not overallocate, but now I am in the opposite direction. Now the problem is, when I look at the resource usage graphs for these resources, some weeks they are dramatically underallocated.
