    - probably a simple answer I have a task (dev) with a dozen sub tasks under it. I have another task (test) that obviously can't begin until the dev task is complete. I am looking for the same solution, or rather the boss is. Hi, In the Resource Usage view, Is there a way of showing the Gantt Bars for each task that each Resource is working on.     - MS Project 2003 Resource calendar Hi, I am having problems with the abc schedule in scheduling with resource1, time for the weeks of 9/7, 9/14, and 9/21. His calendar shows these 3 weeks as working, but project will not allow time to be sceduled.     - Duration Display Issue Helping a client with a weekend calendar issue, I may need some more help... This is Project 2007 pre-SP1 (no updates) We've got two 100 hour tasks lasting through a weekend, and the work (100 hrs), resource units (100%) and start (Friday) and finish (Monday) dates all agree, but the duration seems to indicate a strange number (like 12 days or 2.5 weeks) rather than the expected three days indicated by the difference between start and finish. The standard day is 8 hours in Tools>Options. The task is using a calendar set to working time from 12AM to 12AM, and the calendar was added AFTER the plan was built. Any thoughts? I have a screen capture of the duration, work start and finish to illustrate my conundrum if anyone would like to see. Is there something broken with the duration display?     - Starting out with Project Server 2007 I installed the product and connected Project Pro 2007 to the server, but I have one question: How can a project that was created in Project Pro be viewed on the Project Web Access? I was able to publish the project to the server and have its own site created, but when viewed online, none of the task show up. Is this normal behavior?     - Task Usage View 9-80 Work Week I am creating a new project in P2003SP3 using a 9/80 work calendar. I have created a new calendar (9/80) with every other Friday off, along with company holidays. The new calendar is assigned to the Project.mpp and ResourcePool.mpp, and all resources in ResourcePool.mpp have a base calendar assigned as 9/80. Tools/Options/Calendar Tab is changed to reflect 9/80 work week in both Project.mpp and ResourcePool.mpp. Default work hours set to 9 hours (7AM-5PM with a 1 hour lunch), 17 days per month, 45 hours/week. Resources from the pool seem to assign to Project.mpp nicely and show a proper hours spread of 9 hours/day and every other Friday off. In the Task Usage View, I am expecting every Saturday and Sunday to show gray, and every other Friday show Gray. The work spreads correctly to the 9/80 schedule along with days off. However, all Fridays still appear yellow (available). The Resource Usage view shows every other Friday as non-work day. Am I missing something with the Yellow on every Friday or is Project.mpp being stuborn? I would like to see the non-working Fridays as gray in the Task Usage view.     - Windows Vista and Microsoft Project 2003 I made the mistake of downloading the microsoft validation. I have Windows Vista, Office Professional 2007 and Project 2003. Whenever I try to download a template for any MS product (Word, Excel) from MS's website, I get the message "You may be the victim of software counterfeiting" and it complains about Microsoft Project. Of course, I have not been. All my software has been purchased on CD's, all in their original packaging and all with the appropriate software keys. I've downloaded the latest patches for MS Project, but to no avail.     - New resource allocation percentage is ignored I use a shared resource pool. I noticed that somehow my percentage allocation on a task was 106%. Don't know how that happened.. but I changed the task allocation to 15% and then saved the project and the resource pool. Apparently Microsoft doesn't like that answer because each time I close and re-open these projects, the percentage is back at 106%. The only way it does not bounce back to that value is if I open the sharer project alone and do not open the resource pool when asked.     - Task Sorting/Custom Group I am using Project Standard 2003. I have a 500 task schedule. The proposal submitted was placed in a project file in a given order. However, now we need to "resort" the schedule. I inserted Text1 and input the groupings that I want.. GoupA, GroupB, etc. Some of these tasks are together, but others are not. GroupA may be tasks 10,11,12,13 and then 121,122, and 200 to 225. Similar for the other groups. Each of these groups has its own summary task. I want to regroup the schedule and still keep the same indenture of summary tasks where practical. This way, all my GroupA is together. What is the best approach to do this?     - Customized Field using Formula Hello, I am trying to create a customized field that will do the following: -Take today's date minus the finish date of a task then compare the value to the remaining duration to provide with an estimated status of the task going to be late or on time (using the added field on the project, I put Green, Yellow, Red icon to specify which tasks are going to ok, maybe late, are late). This is mostly for upper management and I am sure that there are other ways of doing the same thing (I would not mind hearing about it too). I have used multiple different formulas but it does not seems to come accross as expected. Again here is my idea as an example: Working 8 hours a day/40 hours a week for 4 weeks would be 20days/160 hours total. Start date is: 10/01/2007 Finish date is: 10/30/2007 Today's date is: 10/05/2007 The task is at 10% completion (meaning 16 hours would have been spent on it). If I were to compare: Finish date - Today's date, I would get (I am guessing) 16 days left. Based on it, I would want to then compare the amount of days left (16) to the Remaining Duration (10% of total 20 days/160 hours would be 2 days/16 hours) and would find that I am in jeopardy already since I should really be at almost 25%.     - Duration lost when opening a Project2003 file in Project2007 Hello Doctors!!! Have you ever seen this bug? I´ve built a plan in a machine with Project Standart 2003 and when opening this plan in a machine with Project Standard 2007, some task durations are lost! The problem only happens in tasks which I selected type "fixed duration", have entered some duration in days, have a resource assigned, but work is "0 hours". (this setting is because I don´t want to track work on these tasks). So, example, if I have a task which has work=0hrs; duration=3days in Project2003, when I open it in Project 2007 it will show work=0hrs; duration=0days. I tried to equalize the "Options" parameters in both machines, but the problem is still there.     - MSP 2003 with new install Office2007 I've finally been given a new laptop. Office2007 was installed from new (ie not an upgrade) and I have been trying without success to get MSP2003 to work. It keeps crashing, especially when I click on a dropdown (eg resource). On my previous laptop, I had office 2000, Project 2003 (upgrade from 2000) and then Office2007 upgraded - and all worked fine. Has anyone encountered this? Is there anything I can do to fix it? Seems a bit rough to be forced to buy MSP 2007 just because Microsoft made a bit of a hash.     - SP3 Macro error(?) when opening SP2 files with security on them I have a problem over here. Running Microsoft Project 2003 Pro and recently (as in this week) installed SP3. We have many .mpp files over here with security on them, saved with passwords. Now, when anyone with SP3 installed tries to open a password secured .mpp file that was created in SP2 it requests the password twice and then spits out a error and then won't open the file. the error is: ------------------------------------------------ an unexpected error occurred during command execution. try the following: verify that all argument names and values are correct and are of the correct type. you have run out of memory. to free up available memory close programs windows projects.... -------------------------------------------------------------- WHAT IS WORSE, is when i ask someone with SP2 to then resave the file WITHOUT a password, it still won't open the file and spits out the same error message. This seems a MAJOR flaw in SP3. Any unsecured .mpp files open fine. I then attempted the registry fix here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941466 and it now requests the password once, doesn't spit out the error message, but the .mpp opens up to a new and blank document!!! please help! we've got hundreds of these files and many of them are secured and i can't uninstall the service pack. I have used the date range filter in the cost and resource usage reports,
(edited them from the dialog box.) Now I can not restore the original
unlimited date range. Setting to other date ranges or filtering for all
resouces, tasks or anything else does not eliminate the restricted date range.

Suggestions?

Never Mind: I think the date range in the print dialog was restricting the
range, not the filter. The problem went away after a restart. Too many
different ways to get messed up!
