Hi,
I would like to show two of my tasks in the calendar view on a single line.
Example:
Resource and Task Name. I was able to use the text box and select the
column although it only allows one column to select. I need at least 2.

Hi,

The Calendar View is very limited. However you could add a formula to a Text
field and build up a string of Resource nod Task Name exactly as you want
it, then display Text1 in the bar using Format, Bar Styles.

Thanks for the response. I am not sure I know how to build a formula to a
text field. Sounds great - but am not that savvy yet with this application.
Sounds tricky.

Any further steps would be appreciated.

Hello KarenG,

Pardon me for bumping in -- but if I understand what you are looking for
correctly, you shouldn't need a formula. I think you are asking how to
display both the Task name and the assigned resource name on bars in the
Calendar view. If so, follow the steps below:
Display the Calendar view
Choose Format > Bar Styles in the menu to display the Bar Styles dialog
box.
Select Noncritical in the Task Type list.
In the Field(s): area at the lower part of the dialog box, you should
see Name, Duration. This is showing the Task Name and duration in the
noncritical bars. Change the list to "Name, Resource Names" -- no
quotes -- to show the Task Name and resource Names.
Repeat for Critical tasks as needed.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi,

That seemed like it might be an option although I think something is still
wrong.

I need resource name and task on the Same line (ex: Karen, tax filing)
Currently - I don't think my tasks are itemized as critical or non critical.
I did try it and it didn't change the outcome.

Any other suggestions?

Hello Karen,

Project determines whether a task is critical or not, so that shouldn't
be an issue. Can you be more specific about what you think has gone
wrong?

If you have tasks in the Gantt chart with Task Names (prepare taxes) and
Resources (Karen) assigned, the Calendar view should show you are bar
for each task with the Task Name and Resource name.

Please tell us what you are seeing when you tried the suggestion. Also
please let us know what you see when you look at the Gantt chart view.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

I wish there was a way to attach things or show screen prints. My usual
method is not working here.

I made a change to Crititcal > Text > Resource and then Non Critical > Text
> Name. The result is one line on the calendar with only the task.

The Gannt I was able to change the inner name and the resource and that is
great. Although I don't believe that is visably appearing or easy to work as
a working calendar document.

The end result I would like to show a working calendar that has (task,
Resource) on one line to quickly assign staffing/resources on critical
business weeks. This might not be the route to use.

Both the Gannt and the Calendar are not in synch.

Hello Karen,

Okay, what I *think* you have done is to go to the Calendar View, choose
Format > Bar Styles, selected Noncritical from the task type list and
have Name showing in the field(s) list. (I am confused because there is
no command Critical > Text > Resource) When you show the Calendar view
and open the Format > Bar Styles dialog box, select Noncritical from the
list, do you see Name in the field(s): area?

If so, you need to click after Name type a comma and type Resource
Names. The field(s) box will now say:
Name, Resource Names

You will then select Critical from the list and change the data in the
field(s) area to the same as the Noncritical:
Name, Resource Names

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Karen,

It also could be you need to check the "Wrap Text" box because your bar is
too small to show both fields.

Formating the calendar is a pain.
