Hello,

I have created a basic MS proj file listing the 7 projects the company is
working on. Each of the projects listed within this 1 file has various
subtasks. My boss has requested I display the projects in a calendar view.
the problem is in calendar view the summary tasks (or outdented, bolded
project names for each individual project) are not showing up, only the
subtasks or child tasks of each project show up. Could someone please
advise? Thank you!

I'm not sure why this isn't working for you. this works for me in the
default Calendar view of Pro03.

Is your Calendar View using the All Tasks filter?

As far as I know, yes. What settings/preferences need to be on for it to
view the summary tasks (project titles) in calendar view? Maybe somehow the
settings got messed up? Please advise, thank you.

Hello CalendarGirl,

From the calendar view, choose Format > Bar Styles and make sure the Project
Summary task type has a bar type of Line or Bar -- not none.

I hope this helps.

All --

I was able to duplicate the behavior seen by CalendarGirl. I too cannot get
the Calendar view to display summary tasks in a master project. I created a
simple master project consisting of only 2 subprojects. I noted that by
default, the Bar Styles dialog is set to NOT show Summary Tasks. Even after
I specified a Bar Style for summary tasks, the summary tasks still DO NOT
show. I think CalendarGirl may have uncovered a bug. Hope this helps.

Hmmm. This is odd. Using Project 2003 SP-3 installed to Windows XP
SP3, After turning on summary tasks, I see the Project summary task
and other summary tasks in a master project. I created the master
through Window > New Window. All set.

I created another master with Insert > Project using two projects.
Again, after enabling summary tasks, all set.

Curiouser and curiouser :-)

Julie and all --

Because of the number of tasks scheduled concurrently, I discovered that the
Calendar view contains the summary tasks, but they are hidden. To reveal
them, I did the following:

1. Click Format - Layout.
2. Select the "Attempt to fit as many tasks as possible" option.
3. Click the OK button.

Because of the amount of tasks that might appear in any one day, I recommend
making the summary task symbol a line rather than a bar. Sorry for any
confusion my previous post might have added to this thread. Hope this
helps.
