I want Project to do some resource allocation. I want Project to calculate
how men I need to get the job done in a certain time frameFor example, I
have a task that is scheduled to take 600 work hours to complete...if my men
each work 40 hours a week, how many men do I need to complete this job on
time.

An indirect way. Put in your task and set its duration to the required time
frame. Split the screen. In the bottom window, mark the task "Fixed
Duration" and assign one resource to it, setting the work to 600 hours and
letting Project calculate the effort. Click OK on the upper right corner of
the task form dialog in the bottom window. Look at the figure in the Units
column and divide it by 100 - that's the number of resources you're going to
need to get it done in the required time frame.
