    - swf in powerpoint 2003 problems My girlfriend does marketing and she wants to put a flash file in her powerpoint for her boss. we can do the whole insert a shockwave flash object and point it to the swf but it doesn't work right. The thing is she got this flash file from someone else in the company. You're supposed to run the exe and it plays the flash content. There's a basic background and a table of links on the left. As you click on the links, the content in the right changes. All while this happens a series of pictures cycles at the top. Now, outside of powerpoint, if you run the swf file, it will only work correctly if the "assets" folder is in the same folder as the swf file. If you pull that assets folder out of the folder with the swf, it only shows the background. None of the content loads. That being said, is there a way in powerpoint to add the swf AND have it pull the content from the assets folder or is it not working because of how it's set up as the .exe package? She can call the .exe as a hyperlink in the document too, but then there's an annoying message saying some files can harm...blah blah blah, are you sure. Not too professional for a presentation in my opinion. is there anything we can do, or does this flash project need to be created a different way to play properly in powerpoint?     - Negative numbers in a spreadsheet cell I have the following code in my ppt vba working on an open spreadsheet dim s as string s=worksheet.cells(1, 1) It works fine for most cells. However, when the value is negative number, i.e., -8.75, I got a type mismatch error. And I couldn't find a way to get around.     - Finding exact physical location of selected text or cursor Hi all, Just wondering if it is possible to find the physical location of selected text (ie, in units from top and left of slide) within a textbox/autoshape? I have a macro that formats my selected text in a special way, and I want it to put a line (not underline, an actual line) under the text.     - Printing animations I=92m working on a PPT add-in where I want to print a slide in different stages of an animation. If I print a slide that uses the build animation what I get is the final stage of the slide. I would like to be able to print all stages of the animation so that I can run a simplified version of the animation myself. I=92m currently printing slides into XPS format using the ExportAsFixedFormat method. Is it possible to print other stages of the animation into XPS format?     - Information Pop-up You know how when you move your cursor over a command button a little box will pop up telling you what that button is? Is there anyway to get something like that in Power Point? We have a map of our campus and we would like to set it up so that when you move the mouse over a building a little box would pop up with some basic information (building name, date of construction, gross square feet).     - Video playback in Poweroint 2007 using Windows XP I recently purchased a new HP laptop computer. I ordered it with Windows XP but I have Office 2007 installed. I am a frequent user of Powerpoint. I have tried inserting standard .wmv video files but they won't play. So I used my old computer with Windows XP but Poweroint 2003 and created a presentation with a few .wmv files and .wav files. Everythign is fine.     - Document font sizes change on different machine I am running PPT 2003 w/ SP2. When I open presentations given to me by several other users in the office, the fonts resize or reformat on their own when I open the file. For example, a font may format to bold that was normal typface, or it may grow by a size. I checked the same files on another user's machine (who is running same version of Office), and the files open without issue. Is this the bug that has been mentioned a few times in earlier posts?     - Audio setup in PPT 2007 Using PPT 2007 in XP home for the first time (used PPT 97 previously) to create a birthday montage. I have a few .wav files to include, and I want each to span over a specified number of slides. I'm using Rehearse Timings which I believed would allow me to set the exact number of seconds the clip played per individual slide, and then transition automatically to the next slide. But when you play the slideshow, the slides don't transition at all. (this will be burned onto CD and connected via laptop to be viewed on a TV so it HAS to transition automatically). To add the file, I did Sound - Sound from File. I've tried every possible setting and it still doesn't transition.     - How can I type foreign accents without using insert symbols? I teach foreign languages and always struggle with the fact that I cannot as easily type foreign accents in Powerpoints as I can in Word where this is not difficult at all.     - Video in PPT flashes for a moment before playing... Hello, I have two videos in a powerpoint (2007) presentation, and when the slide advances, the first frame of the video shows, then disappears for a second, and then the video resumes. It does not do this when played outside of Powerpoint. I've moved a copy of the PPT along with the two WMV files and shortened the names to minimize the length of the file path.     - "Color Typewriter" animation slower in '07 than '03 My company has rolled-out an Office '07 pilot, and I've noticed a drastic decrease in visual performance when viewing animated slides I've created in the '03 version of PPT. Specifically, the color typewriter effect performs more sluggishly. I've read the thread regarding "print drivers" as the fix, but I'm still curious as to why there is a difference in performance between the two versions when the environment (my desktop configuration, the network...) has not changed.     - Custom Animation I use Office 2003. When I try to animate (Custom Animation), I can set it up but the animation doesn't work. That is - the Custom Animation menu opens up, I can see that Group 1 should appear with the first mouseclick, Group 2 with the second etc. but when I go into the Slideshow, everything appears at once.     - Powerpoint 2003:Missing Images I have created 4 Chapters of Photo and Sound Images (460 Images in Each Chapter) using Powerpoint 2003. The problem I have is, when using Powerpoint 2003 to view the Presentations, about every 5th to 12th Image is missing on screen. Since this problem presented itself in Powerpoint, I also notice that Emailed PPSs miss some Images. This problem does not happen if I use Microsoft Powerpoint 2003 Viewer to view files outside of Powerpoint 2003 itself. I have also determined that the problem does not present itself when the same Presentation Files are run on other PCs or Laptops. In an effort to identify the cause of this problem I have tested with Graphics Accelleration both on and off and various settings for Accelleration. No improvement. I have changed out and increased DDR400 Memory to max of 4 Gb, I have performed a Windows Repair Install and Un-Installed Graphics Card Driver and Installed current version Driver 93.71, all to no avail, missing Images still persist. My PC specs: MB = Gigabyte GA-81PE775 Pro, CPU = Intel P4 3.0GHz, RAM = 4Gb DDR 400, Video = GeForce MX 4000 93.71 Driver, HDD = SATA 500Gb, OS = XP Pro SP2 + Updates, Application = Office 2003 SP3 + Updates, AVG AntiVirus and AVG AntiSpyWare. Can anyone Please advise if my Hardware can be contributing to this problem in any way or any other pertinent information that may assist in resolving this problem.     - MCI error - mp3s randomly stop working; reinstalled WMP11 but noth Would love some help here. I have PPT 2003 and XP sp2. Using this set-up I have created many ppt presos with media in them and they have all worked fine. Up until now that is. Now I am getting this MCI error ("The specified file cannot be played on the specified MCI device. blah blah.."). The offending media in question is an mp3 I have run mplayer2.exe (WMP6?) and mp3s will not work there either, the error being "The source filter for this file could not be loaded. (Error=80040241)". The same mp3s work fine though in every other application I've tried (WMP11, Winamp, RM). So does this mean the problem is not the codecs? I've tried uninstalling and re-installing WMP11 I don't know how many times. I have also uninstalled pretty much every program I can think of that could potentially be causing a codec clash, including: - Winamp - Real Player - Samsung PC Studio + any other programs I saw which had anything to do with multimedia (exlc. VLC and PowerDVD) I have never downloaded and installed a codec pack, rogue or otherwise. To be honest until today I didn't even know what a codec was. The number of character in the file path is well less than 100 too. I would be most grateful for any advice as honestly I am at my wits end. For backup and repository purposes I usually export all of these files. Something I am looking for is automising this export. For now I have to click on each file, select "export", select the folder and save. This can be quite annoying for a lot of files (which I have). I've been working right along on programs OK and when I click on "custom animation", the task pane has been displaying on the far right side of my monitor screen. However, after the last graphic or text box appears, the slide transitions nearly instantaneously to the next slide.     - Motion Path Accuracy I'm just starting to use motion paths to develop some animations, and I'm having trouble making them accurate enough to keep my objects aligned. For example, say I have a group of four boxes (upper left, upper right, lower left, lower right) that form a grid. I want to show those boxes moving around to show a particular reordering of data that I'm illustrating, but when the boxes come to their final resting places in the same grid, they are not well lined up because the motion paths don't seem to "snap" to where I'm wanting the boxes to move (meaning, the end points of the paths are not in the right place). Are there tricks to making accurate paths? I've found the same disappointment in general when working with freeforms - I don't know how to put the points exactly where I want them when drawing or editing.     - Stretching WordArt In PPT2003 you could stretch text vertically or horizontally - but in 2007 it seems that this function no longer exists - but essentially treats all text the same - it maintains the proportions of the fonts.     - Hardware acceleration in 2007 I've had PPT 2007 installed on two very powerful laptops but find that hardware acceleration just doesn't work like it did in 2003. With HA enabled the result is the same on both computers: Problem #1: the object animations do not play out in the slide preview - everything just appears (but play correctly with HA off) Problem #2: when playing the slideshow HA has no affect on the speed whatsoever - and is sometimes even slower. Problem #3: all the object animations are slower with much faster computers in PPT 2007 than they were with slower computers in PPT 2003 It seems that MS has managed to just break the hardware acceleration function between versions. You need to add a password to modify.

You didn't mention the version you have.

2002/3 Tools > Options> Security
2007 Save As > Tools dropdown > General
