Power Point 07 keeps freezing when previewing animations

First movie frame has text shadow
When I insert a wmv movie into Power Point 07, any text in the movie title
itself has a shadow below it. Sometimes the shadow is a different color from
the text. The shadow disappears when the movie starts. The first frame of
the wmv movie itself looks OK. Something is happening to the first frame of
the movie that PowerPoint grabs and puts into the presentation. It looks
like there is a shadow image that is shifted down about 10% of the frame

Remove Review request
I am modifying a lot of shows using the object model both in VBA and .NET.
Had one sent to me that when i say "presentation.save", PowerPoint asks "If
you are planning on sending this presentatin back to the original author, you
may want your changes to be marked as revisions. Revision marks indicating
your edits will appear when the author merges this copy with his or her
original presentation. Do you want to automatically add this additional
informaiton when you sve the file? (yes,no,cancel,help).
I am opening about 1000 shows and verifying content and layout, open the
show withwindow = false, and can't have this question asked.
How is this question marked in PowerPoint so that I can remove it before an
automatic save?
I have tried "HasRevisionInfo", "RemoveBaseLine" and a couple other things,
but can't find the right one.
I do notice that revision information is stored in custom properties.

Connector/line end for diagram
I've been set a task to replicate a flowchart which has lines going to
various autoshape boxes. At the end of the lines (where they connect to the
boxes) the lines have a small circle and then go into three prongs which
touch the box.
Do I need to make this by hand with lines etc or does this exist somewhere
in Powerpoint?

themes in Windows version vs. Mac version
Hi:
I have a Mac and a PC. On the Mac; I have office for Mac 2004, which
includes PowerPoint. It has a LOT of great looking slide design themes, but
it's not the newest version of the software. So, I downloaded a (free) trial
version of the new Office 2007 Professional suite for my PC, to check it out.
I really like the new functionality of PowerPoint 2007 (more intuitive,
with fewer clicks needed to get what you want); but there are also a lot
fewer slide design themes available, and they're not as cool and creative
looking as the ones available on PowerPoint for Mac 2004. Does anyone know
why, and whether there will be any new design themes available soon for the
Office 2007 (Windows) version of this software?

Created macro will not Go
I have created a macro to give every picture in the presentation the same
size and place. It worked okay , but when I closed down my computer and then
started it to go on with my pictures the macro would not work. The sign Go

I have a macro which was created in office 2003, when the macro runs it
deletes all of the notes written below the slide.
I have used the macro 30 or 40 times, it has always worked fine.
I now a have a slide presentation that was saved in Office 2007. I resaved

Page Numbers - Handouts -PowerPoint 2003 vs. 2007
I am experiencing a STRANGE compatibility issue between my customer
(PowerPoint 2003) and my (PowerPoint 2007) slide shows. I am saving the
presentation as .ppt, but the Page Number keeps disappearing on the handout
master. To replicate the error.
1. Create a new presentation in PowerPoint 2007
2. Include a page number on the handout master
3. Add a slide to the presentation
4. Print Preview, Handouts, verify the page number is present
5. Save as test.ptt (PowerPoint 97 -2003 version)
6. Send the file to someone using PowerPoint 2003
7. Open the file in PowerPoint 2003
8. Add a new page
9. Print Preview, Handouts
Every time the file is passed/opened between the different version of
PowerPoint, the page number will VANISH on the handout page for the user on
PowerPoint 2003. The page number will still be visible for the person using
PowerPoint 2007. This happens even though you're forcing the file to be saved
as .ppt vice .pptx
I installed the compatibility pack on my Office 2003 machine and the error

Server application, etc., cannot be found.
My client sent a ppt twice. Both times I get what I've researched is
a not uncommon dialogue.
"The service application, source file, or item can't be found, or
returned an unknown error. You may need to reinstall the server
application." I've a Mac with PPT v 11.3.5 and the latest updates.
No idea about his. Never seen this before myself, but noted it,
usually, in a several year old discussion. What advice can I offer

Display text on mouseover
I've seen Sonia's page, and this is what I want to do, but I need to be able
to create the mouseover text via automation.
I am using Access to dynamically build a presentation. On some slides, I
have shapes of various types (textbox, rectangles, ovals, diamonds, etc) that
I want to add these screen tips to, but I want to do it via automation.
Can anyone tell me how to do this?

Adobe Presenter Add-In
I have installed PPT Merge (from PPT Tools) and this has removed the Adobe
Presenter button from the toolbar. The PPT Merge button is now where it was.
I can see the Presenter add-in (.ppa) when I go Tools>Add-Ins, but although
I can select it, it does not appear in the .ppa file name box, so I can't add
it.
Anyone know why please?

Can't use full space of line for text
This is a wierd one. While make a new column chart, the words for a column
descriptor wouldn't use all the space of a line properly. So instead of
doing it in the chart, I figured I would use a single row table to put in my
column decriptors, but I run into the same issue.
It looks like this:

Bullets, tabs, and outline function not working in Powerpoint 200.
Bullets behave erratically. For example, my colleague and I work back and
forth on the same document and when I send her changes I have made that
appear correct in my document, bullets that are sub to the main topic
sentence in the text frame jump to the right for no apparent reason. I closed
and then re-opened the same document and the same thing happened to me. I
cannot then fix it using promote or demote and the corruption often gets
worse with each attempt.
I tried using my original install disk to repair my Office installation but
that did not change anything.
I am contemplating a total Office reinstall but this installation is only

How do I add animation before master slide animations?
I have a master bullets slide that is set up with the desired text line
animations. The text ani works fine on each bullet slide that is created.
But, unlike 2003, I can't seem to be able to add an objects (say, photos) to
the slide and have them animate into the slide BEFORE the bullet text
animation. In PP 2003, it was simply done by changing the animation order of
objects -- but now the bullet text (a master slide component) is grayed out
in the animation order list so there appears to be no way to bump any
animations ahead of the master slide animation elements.

Powerpoint Viewer 2007 hangs when taskbar programs are activated
Running XP, have a dual monitor split screen setup. Powerpoint Viewer
runs in one monitor pane while the other pane is used for everyday
work. As the user opens programs, the looping Powerpoint presentation
hangs until the program is minimized again. Any ideas what causes
this and how to fix it? Thanks.

Can't find ppt hwnd
When I launch PowerPoint (2007) the following pop-up window appears:
Watson PowerPointAddIn can't find ppt hwnd for caption Microsoft
PowerPoint.
Any ideas what this is and how to fix it? I simply click the Ok button
and continue with no obvious side-effects.

why is "do not autofit" greyed out in "format text effects"?
I've followed these instructions on "turn autofit text on or off":
Click the Microsoft Office Button , click PowerPoint Options, and then click
Proofing.
Under AutoCorrect options, click AutoCorrect Options.
Click the AutoFormat As You Type tab, and then under Apply as you type, do
the following.....etc.
However, all 3 autofit options remain "grayed out" under "format text
effects" !!!! I want to take control on this and ppt2007 won't let me. Pls

Need Help on PowerPoint2007
I just upgraded from PowerPoint2003 to PowerPoint2007.
I am having problems performing functions on PowerPoint 2007 that I used to
be able to do on PowerPoint2003.
Could you tell me how to do the following on PowerPoint 2007:
1. I have set up my Title Page
2. I have set up my design format on my next slide along with the font
color of the text that I want as well as the animation I desire
3. Now I want all of the remaining slides that I do to be in the same
format in design, text color and animation. How do I preset my presentation
so that the succeeding design, text color and animation automatically comes
up on each successive screen so I do not have to make these changes manually
on each screen?

i have issues where my tables look fine until i try editing them, then
when
i close them, they look terrible in ppt, borders show up, fonts are
wrong,
all formatting is way off.
isnt this a fairly normal practice? shouldnt my excel file look

Is it possible to lock a cell in a table?
hi folks, I want to be able to lock a few cells in a powerpoint table
so that no one can change the cells except for me. I know this can be
done in an excel table but I hate the way excel tables look in
powerpoint (the text often looks distorted to me and shifts

Page snaps to centre when adjusting shapes in "zoomed in editing"
I can no longer tolerate this in Powerpoint 2007. When adjusting a freeform
shape point by point, each adjustment snaps the view to the centre of the
object. The point you were editing is now off screen and you have to go look
for it. This didn't happen in 2003 version. What used to take seconds now
takes many minutes. What a stupid behaviour this is. Microsoft's help

how do i save a presentation in simple ppt. I am trying to turn in an
assignment via email and I am pptx now and the instructor cannot open it and

converted power point to video
i converted my power point presentation to video in both formats mpeg for
quicktime viewing and wmp for windows media player. both will show my video
perfectly (w/ the right animations, transitions, ect) except there is no
sound. in the original power point presentation, i embbeded the song and just
playing or viewing it in the power point...everything works perfectly fine. i
tried so many ways but i just can't find a way to bring the out the sound

.SWF files are not friendly in Powerpoint 2003
The .swf file functionality needs fixing in Powerpoint 2003 (likely 2007
too). I have no problem adding them to a presentation. It is getting them
to automatically play in whatever the mode e.g. normal, slideshow, etc.. The
first time it is added and played via slideshow, no problem. After that I
have to manually play the .swf in slideshow mode. Therefore, given I have a
wide audience I distribute the presentation (and I know the audience will not
select 'Play' for each .swf) I now must save it as a picture and then insert
into the preso thereby losing all my .swf functionality.

How do i open my Powerpoint?
My powerpoint icon seems different then others. There is a llittle box in
the coner of the Powerpoint Icon. When i double-click on it, it opens as an
open file box and whatever file i open it says that it can't find the file.
Also, click on my removable disk, that already has a Powerpoint file on it,
to open it. It goes to the slide show presentation and editing it is not an
option.

Converting Excel tables and charts into PowerPoint
I was provided with about 12 different tables of information in .xls format
that I am supposed to include in a PP presentation. The first two tables are
from a survey and contain too much information to do a cut and paste. When I
cut and paste the charts, the print is too small and I can't figure out how
to enlarge it. I am a Power Point neophyte but can usually figure things out

Text unreadable in Powerpoint
I recently installed MS office 2007 professional plus (The student editition
purchased throught the university) It worked fine for a month or so but last
month, just about the time our proffessor started putting all of our study
materials on powerpoint, the text on all powerpoints became unreadable. It
appears that the text stacks up on its self, leaving me with nothin but black
spots the width of one character. I have tried un installing and reinstalling
MS Office several times. I even uninstalled it and deleted every referance of
it out of the registry. I tried uninstalling it and updating my video driver
and reinstalling it, and I have run all hardware diagnostics with all
hardware passing.
I am running it one a

2 gig memory
intel pentium M running at 1.73 gHz
Windows XP media center edition

Flash Object in PowerPoint 2003 Presentation
I have some Flash pieces that I want to use in my presentation. I've been
able to get them into the PPT and run them. Problem is, when I try to close
PPT, I get this error message:
There is an active or inserted linked object that can't be saved
automatically. Please close the object first.
Not sure what to do.

Enable Presenter View for a Single Screen
Especially for Laptop Use.
You can practice with your animations, speaker notes, the slide deck all at
once without having to kill trees for notes, burn projector lamp life, or
carry extra monitors on the plane (Who knows where you would plug them in.)
I find myself wishing for this about once a week. I work from Laptops
exclusively when presenting and for rehersal, timing and fine tuning
presentations this would be a huge asset.

Printing 2007 downloaded template in color from 2003
I downloaded a 2007 version template from this site and it works well -
except for color printing. When I try to print in color, I can only get
greyscale. My printer and program print fine in color - it is definitely the
template and I suspect the version that causes this. I ahve even tried to
PDF for color printing - which works but caused the file to balloon to 400+
MB and takes forever.
Any solution to resolve this? PS> I have tried to resave the file as

Powerpoint movie
Trying to automatically start an mpeg file inserted in a Powerpoint
presentation. It will run if I click, but not automatically. Yes, I checked
start automatically, I tried custom animation to start with previous, etc. -
I've tried everything I can think of. The file is ~60Mb. I experimented with
small files of 4-5Mb, and they work. (Using Powerpoint 2003)
Anybody have suggestions?

Whenever I show a PP 07 presentation using the Viewer 07, the shadows
surrounding the photos, which I added to make them stand out, turn into
nasty dark, grey lines. they look horrible.

How do I get power point presetation to show on extended monitor..
I am running Power Point 2007 on Windows Vista Business on a desktop. The
power point presentation will not show on the extended monitor. Is there a
setting in Power Point? Is there a setting on computer or projector. IT
will play on a laptop. The show plays in a small window at bottom of screen.

Chart manipulation during a presentation
I am trying to create an interactive chart in Powerpoint. I have a radar
chart with 3 data points, I would like to be able to use some kind of control
on the slide during a presentation to change a data point. Basically I want
to show if one of the data points change what will happen to the other two.

PowerPoint2007 intercharacter spacing
I have having an intermittent but major problem with the intercharacter
spacing in ppt files that I am working on. At time, some characters seems to
be displaying on top of each other, even to the point that 1 time all
characters in the main boady of the presentation on all pages was smashed on
the 1st character position. Ttitles and text boxes seem not to be affected.
In addition, the slide thumbnails on the left side of the display and the
slide sorter also seem not to be affected. Hpwever, it is very difficult for
me to edit the primary body text. HELP!!!
