    - Freeform drawing preview colour in Powerpoint 2007 I use a black background for most of my presentations. In PPT 2003 drawing with the freeform tool would preview in white before the shape was finalised by double clicking. In PPT 2007 the preview is black and hence invisible while drawing the freeform, so I can't see what I am drawing! The results are usually entertaining. I can't find any option to change the contrast colour of the freeform tool (in 2003 it appeared to change automatically so was dark on a light background). Same seems to apply to the scribble and curve tool. I can change the background colour, but this seems unnecessarily clunky. Any suggestions on how to modify this behaviour? Many thanks.     - determining slide number and object/shape number I'm using PPT 2007. I need to verify that I am referencing shapes and slides by their correct number in my vba code. For the slide number, I am looking at the slide number listed in the status bar in normal view of the slideshow. For the shapes, I am looking at the number listed in the custom animation pane for that shape or action button. Is this correct? I think I might be using the wrong numbers in code, because I'm getting a message that says: "Shapes(unknown member): Integer out of range. 15 is not in the valid range of 1 to 13."     - placeholder types AND VSTO Using the AddPlaceholder method of the shapes object allows the creation of a placeholder shape on a slide. However, the available placeholder types do not include types that are seen via the InsertPlaceholder in the ribbon. For example, AddPlaceholder does not have a ppPlaceholderClipArt to create a clip art placeholder although a clip art type is available via the ribbon and ppPlaceHolderMixed throws an error. I have the "PrepareSlide22" procedure tied to a picture using "Action Settings", but nothing happens when I click the picture that this macro is tied to. The picture that I am clicking is on slide 21. It does not cause the slideshow to advance to the next slide (slide 22), which is what I want the macro/procedure to accomplish.     - PowerPoint Presentation Reverted Back To Previously Saved Version My wife is working on a project and lost several hours of work. Don't know exactly what happened, but here's what I know, based on what she told me... ---She's been working on it for weeks. ---When she started Sunday morning it was 14 pages long. ---After working on/off throughout the day it was 22 pages long. ---She regularly saves her work. She won't even minimize it without saving. ---Late Sunday night she opened it and it was exactly as it was when she started that morning. Everything she did that day is gone. ---There was no crash, so no autorecovery. I searched all drives for PowerPoint files and could not find any other than the 14-page version. Also searched for templates and webfiles to see if she accidentally saved as one of those, but no luck. When she saves she simply hits the save button.     - Reduce Filesize Hi ! Weekly I send a Powerpoint report by mail with a lot of pictures. I use the same file every week, but I replace most of the pictures with new once. The file size have increased to twice as the orginal size, because of the 'Maximum numbers of undo' is set to 10. I can set this to 3 or 5, but it's still a problem.     - Custom Autoshapes I'm looking to create a custom autoshape group and type in PowerPoint 2003. Is there any way to do this such that users can access the same autoshape menu and now see my new group/shapes?     - font size chang in list Hi! I'm trying to make a ppttemplate. In the masterslide I have set the fontsize for all list levels to 11 pt (this ppt will not be used on screen). When I try to use the list the first level is 11 pt, if I then use tab to change level the fontsize changes to 9 pt. I have tryed to check and uncheck the "autofit bullet lists" and "auto fit text to placeholder" under tools/autocorrect. What am I doing wrong?     - from multiple pics I have been sent a few JPG files. In each file has been scanned a lot of photos (as many as would fit on a scanner window), instead of sending me the photos each with its own file. I have tried "highlighting" one photo, did COPY and want to paste it on a slide, but it won't let me do that. Would I have to separate each photo into its own file name, then do "insert file" (into Powerpoint) with each picture. That would take forever. Please tell me there is an easier way?     - Insert picture Hi there. I am trying to insert a picture taken from a new camera into my PPT 2002 student/teacher edition. It won't let me paste the picture. I get an empty picture box with the ol' little red box with the 'X' in the upper left hand corner. I can paste other pics without any problems, just the picture from the new camera.     - Adding a Video Attract Loop to beginning of PPT presentation I am displaying a PowerPoint presentation at a confernce. I am trying to add a "looping attract" video to the beginning of a ppt. presentation. I want this video to loop full screen, and then when someone walks up to the monitor and clicks on the video, I'd like it to go to the next slide and begin the PPT presentation.     - animation ppt2003 My 5th grade students created digital narratives using powerpoint 2003. I have combined each individual slide show into one long one so I can show them at the annual Art Show (I'm an art teacher) as a continuous ongoing show during the night. Here's my problem: the individual animation schemes from slide group to slide group differ; however in the animation command box you have to "apply to all", which means all the seperate slide groups have to have the same animation, evan if they are not selected.     - video/audio file portable issue Hi, Need some help desprately as the deadline for this project is appraching. I'm doing a pp presentation with a large amount of audio/video files. The video/audio files were created using a common av software and then inserted into the slides. When the project was done I burned the final pps and associated video audio files on a CD. I had to modify the slides so they could link to the embedded files, which are now on the D drive, my CD drive. So far everything is fine. Then here's the problem. I moved to another computer which has its CD drive as E: (the new vista system has D occupied as 'Data' - what the heck is that?). The pps wouldn't work (!!!) - it's still searching for the av files from D drive. Because I don't know what drive the recipient of this project has as their CD drive, I am risking sending them something that's not playable. I've been trying to figure out something to solve the problem but couldn't, - very frustrated. Could anyone please help out? Thanks very much in advance for your help!     - Running Macro from workbook embedded in PPT Hi All, I am using Office 2007. I have an intriguing problem with a ppt addin. The default PPT addins location is =91C:\Documents and Settings \Administrator\Application Data\Microsoft\AddIns=92 =96 it is a trusted location. I have 2 files in this folder =96 a ppt addin and a ppt presentation containing 2 slides =96 each of the slides has an embedded Excel 2007 workbook containing macros. The PPT addin is registered as an active addin in Powerpoint. The addin does this: Adds 2 buttons to the Addins tab in PPT and opens the ppt presentation in the background (without a window). Clicking one of these buttons in the add-ins tab copies one of the mebedded Excel workbooks from the invisible ppt to the current slide. So far so good. Since the ppt addin is in a trusted folder (C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Microsoft\AddIns is marked as trusted) =96 the addin code runs. BUT=85 The inserted workbook also contains macros =96 when I activate the embedded workbook newly pasted in the current slide to edit the data, the macros are disabled. Adding the C:\Documents and Settings \Administrator\Application Data\Microsoft\AddIns folder to trusted locations in Excel options does not work =96 a reason could be that the workbook is not saved in this location as a file =96 it is an embedded (macro enabled) workbook on a ppt slide. The end user cannot allow setting macro option to allow all macros to run. Apart from using digital signatures, is there a way to do this?     - Transparent Chart from Excel? I like the "Transparent / 3D Effect that I get when I insert a PowerPoint Chart using the default Microsoft Graph program that comes with PowerPoint. Is there a way to apply that cool look to a graph imported or pasted from Excel?     - Add preview to design template pane I've downloaded several design templates for PowerPoint XP (2002), but only Microsoft's default ones show up in my task pane as "Available For Use." I saved the new ones in the same location as the others, and all are the same file type.     - Macro that copies a range of slides from main presentation I am attempting to build a macro that will copy a range of slides from a Main Presentation, open a new presentation, and paste those slides into a new presentation, therebye creating a sub-presentation from the Main Presentation. The user has the option in the Powerpoint to select which chunks of the presentation to split, using checkboxes, and then user selects a button, that, upon selecting, all checked chunks are copied and pasted to a new presentation. Note that as I currently have it, each checkbox relates to a textbox that holds the slide numbers for the slides that are to be copied should that textbox be checked. These textboxes will be locked to the user. Simple picture: Checkbox Text box [X] Section A [1 , 2, 4] [ ] Section B [5, 7, 8] [X] Section C [9, 10, 11] Given the above, if the user pushes the button, a new PP is started and the slides numbered above are copied from the original and pasted into the new. I have introductory experience with basic VBA and have used textboxes and buttons before. The below is my VBA to this point. Note that the code goes out to a template on the server in order to ensure the formatting is retained on paste, and then deletes the slides that are in the template once the paste is done. Also, the macro currently breaks. I am trying to have the Dim Seg1 Variant Array set by the text in the text box, but the way i have worded it is not clean. You can see for seg2 and seg3 the original approach that I took, which requires the PP creater to go into the VBA code to set the arrays. Also, currently the paste only pastes one of the copies. I have not figured out how to do a CTRL + select copy (multicopy) in VBA. I hope the VBA and explanation helps give you a picture of what I am trying to do. If you can help in anyway, or have a better approach to take then the direction that I am heading in below, I'm willing to try about anything at this point.     - Security Warning When Clicking on Hyperlink in Presentation I am supporting a client using Mac OS X and PowerPoint 2004. He has an action button -- actually a hyperlink -- that takes him to a file external to the PowerPoint presentation. When the link is clicked a warning about files containing viruses, etc. appears.     - Page Size of Notes pages converted to pdf When I convert PowerPoint 2007 notes pages to pdf format the page size is set to 7.16 X 10.12.     - running power point as the inactive application I am using ppt to run a digital sign on a PC with dual monitor output. I would like to be able to run other applications on my PC (I have two monitors) while the power point presentation continues to run on the same machine but using the second monitor (the digital sign). Can anyone tell me what I need to do to make this happen. Currently if I use the PC for other work powerpoint will pause until it is made the active application again. Good link. Microsoft has given us a very nice new feature with the same name as a
very useful but now discontinued feature. The old recolor feature let us pick any
color in a graphic and assign it a new color instead.
