    - Powerpoint 2007 - editing charts in presentations. We have recently upgraded to Office 2007 and a number of users are getting error messages when trying to edit charts that were created with previous versions of Powerpoint. There are four errors. they basically say: 1. To edit this chart using the new features available in the 2007 Microsoft office System, you must firat convert it to the 2007 office system format. Do you want to convert to the new format. It does not matter which option is chosen as none of them work. 2. Microsoft office powerpoint can't start the application required to open this object. An error occurred and this feature is no longer functioning. Would you like to repair now. If you chose yes, then it runs through the repair process, asks for a reboot and does not fix anything. 3. The server application, source file, or item can't be found, or returned an unknown error. You may need to reinstall the server application. Click ok and the following message comes up. 4. Microsoft Office Powerpoint can't start the application required to open this object. An error occurred and this feature is no longer functioning properly. Would you like to repair this feature now. You choose yes and runs through the repair and restarts and still doesn't work. I have read a lot of the support and have checked there is less than 300 fonts, I have reregistered the graph.exe and got a message saying it needs to be run from another program.     - Sound timeline Hi, Is there any way in PowerPoint that I can view a timeline where the music that I have inserted starts and finishes? I know there is the icon on each page that I have inserted it but I would like to just look at the presentation and see where the next clip starts. It seems I have put a couple of songs in that are overlapping one another and I have two playing at once. I will have to go through manually and fix it up but for future reference I thought there might be some timeline that I can look at quickly and see what I have done.     - PowerPoint BACKGROUNDS Hey, I have used a lot of the advice on here to export images and text to make a new slide, but I am having a LOT of trouble exporting the background. Is there any way at all to export the background? Currently I am creating a new slide with the same background format as the current slide and then doing a slide export. The problem with this is that if the background is not a template, the background is not transfered. Any help would be greatly appreciated.     - SourceFullName error PowerPoint Office 2007 sp 1 Hi, We are trying to update the value of SourceFullName for a PowerPoint 2007 presentation link to an OLE, paste special, Excel chart. The problem we have is on some machines we get the error below when the value given to 'SourceFullName' does not point to a valid file but on other machines it accepts the value. Method 'SourceFullName' of object 'LinkFormat' failed. With error number -214467259 My question hence, is there a way where we can turn off the check when setting 'SourceFullName'? Or is there a windows update or known setting that modifies the behaviour. At the moment we know on some machines this check is happening but on others it is not. We have tested under XP sp 3 and Vista sp 1 and we are running Office 2007 sp 1. We have both XP and Vista machines showing the duality, it would be nice to find out what is setting this behaviour, what we do observe is that appears to be at a machine level.     - Excel in Powerpoint Hi, I have a power point presentation that has many slides with embedded Excel files which are pulling data directly from Hyperion - however, as many of the slide are showing the same information, rather than having each slide linked to Hyperion I would rather link the Embedded Excel file to another embedded excel file within the same PPT document - ie link an excel file on slide 3 to an excel file in slide 5 so everytime there is a chnage to one number I dont have to update mulitple slides, I can just update 1 slide and know the changes flow through onto all the other slides - is this possible?     - Powerpoint 2007 always prompts UAC When I start Powerpoint 2007 I'm prompted by Vistas UAC: "A program needs your permission to continue (= Powerpoint)". It started after installing the programs to convert Powerpoint to flash / creating screencast. I have been testing different tools for producing screencasts and converting Powerpoint to flash/video. Among them I have bought and installed Adobe Articultate and Camtasia Studio. Others I have tried is Wondershare PPT2flash, Articulate Presenter and AuthorPoint. Now ALL programs have been uninstalled again, but UAC is still prompting when starting Powerpoint. The UAC prompt is REALLY REALLY REALLY annoying, so I have cleaned my PC - with no luck. I have * uninstalled all relevant programs * checked for addins in Powerpoint * checked in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\ADDINS * checked C:\users\%user%\appdata\Roaming\Microsoft\AddIns * searched the registry and removed leftover keys and hives * repaired the Office installation (one hour!) - and spent to much time on this s+++. I have tried Camtasia support (great guys), searched http://www.sameshow.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3290 (no answer: "UAC is good!"), sent a question to Adobe support (no answer yet) - and searched the net. Where/how to stop the AUC prompt? (and no: I don't want to stop using UAC). I run Vista Business UK and Office 2007 (DK).     - Sizing photos for slide presnetation. I have approximately thirty slides that I have inserted into a presentation. However, some slides are being cut off a the top, the sides and do not fit the window. I right clicked the photos and resized by the "scale to fit the window" but the photos look so small. When I am looking at the screen, is that what the presentation is going to look like? I plan on showing this presentation with my laptop and a projector on a 100 inch screen. I do not want the photos to be too large or too small. Is there a standard size? Or does it look better to have a variety of sized to mix up the presentation?     - Switching presentation and editing screen? I have a laptop with an external, bigger screen. When the computer is docked, the external screen is my main screen (i.e. the screen with the taskbar or screen 1), the laptop is the secondary screen. When I switch powerpoint to presentation mode, for some reason it displays the slides fullscreen on the laptops built-in screen (i.e. the secondary screen), while on the primary screen it still shows PPT in editing mode. This is quite nice for *developing* a presentation, but when I want to *show* the presentation, be it to someone in the office, or if I attach a beamer to present, then I of course would like to see the presentation on the external screen or beamer and the editing window and speaker notes on the laptop's built-in panel.     - Insert video clip object I reguarily insert movies from file (wmv) into Powerpoint 2000. So I am very familiar with the limitations and vagiaries such as having to use an absolute address that must be shorter than ca 128 characters. And that if you move the presentation ensuring that the movie file is in the same folder as the presentation. etc. Now I wish to insert an AVI file as a Video clip using Insert Object. This works fine when you don't move anything. But I need to transport it to another computer so the absolute location will not be the same. Do the same, or similar, restrictions apply to this process as do for the movie file situation? If not what constraints do apply.     - ppt 07 VBA compatability with ppt 03 I have code that runs during an active presentation. I recently tested the code using a friend's PPT 07. The code ran fine with one exception. There is an embedded picture (enhanced meta format) that generated an error. The vba code rotates the picture. The error was that the picture was not found within the shapes collection. I found the shape listed among the other shapes and groups. I could rename the picture but I got the same error. I tried a quick cut and paste to see if a newly embedded picture would be found, but no joy. The picture was created from a grouped autoshape. The autoshape was copied and then pasted special in enhanced meta format. Did I get the error because pictures in PPT 07 are in a different collection? Or, did the error derive from a difference in enh meta format between the 2 ppt versions? ' The next several lines place and rotate the picture 931 ' picture 931 is in enhanced meta file format. At that time, Brian stated that he preferred to use excel spreadsheets vice ppt tables. So... Brian how do I code to search an embedded excel worksheet for a specific value while running a presentation. I don't want to open excel. I am currently using vba controls to allow the user change various values during the presentation. Based on these values, I do some calculations. The spreadsheet could eventually run to 1400 lines.     - Animation Appear-Hide-Appear sequence I have dozens of technical presentations developed with Powerpoint 2000. When imported into Powerpoint 2007, the Appear-Hide-Appear animations have about a one second delay between "Hide on next mouse click" and "Appear". In ppt 2000 there was no delay. In ppt 2007 there is a delay and this destroys the effect. I have tried everything I know and have talked to the first level of Microsoft Powerpoint technical support and they don't know how to fix this. The case is still open, but I am just going in a circular dance with them. I do know how to work-around this by creating many more sequential slides rather than relying on animations, but this would be very time consuming re-developing all of my presentations, and it would make all of my presentations much larger in file size. If there is not a fix, then I would have to make about 300 CD-R's to send to all of the technical trainers across North America with the corrected effects. This has become a nightmare for me. By the end of August, all employees are required to have made the transition from Office 2000 to Office 2007. Has anyone had to deal with this issue and discovered the fix?     - click to change text I am trying to do a Jeopardy game on PowerPoint. I want to make it so when I click on a box, it changes from showing the dollar amount to displaying the question. I tried making one image dissolved into another, but then when I click on the screen, the images change in the order I set them up.     - Powerpoint staying in memory Hello all, I have used vb to open a pp, edited the pp, and I am attempting to close. I am using aplication.quit to close the presentation, but when I look into task manager it seems that pp is not ending all tasks. I have set save = true and the program seems to end properly. I am having bandwidth issues running Power Point on a terminal server over a T1 line and I'm looking for ways to cut down the traffic generated. Someone has come along wanting to play the presentation on the projector but see the notes on the laptop screen, all from one laptop. Apparently you can do this on a mac!     - Inserting a movie file into a powerpoint presentation - Windows VISTA I have been creating powerpoint presentations for some years now and have come across the following problem and would be grateful for any suggestions please. My latest presentation for my employer, consists of 56 slides, and on 6 of these I've tried attaching 'movie' files (via: insert menu - movie clip - from file - clip). These are movies ranging in size from 18,000KB to 51,000KB that I have created/filmed myself on a digital (Canon) camera, downloaded to my PC using the accompanying camera software and these have saved automatically in the following format '.avi'. I have successfully 'inserted' these files/movies into my presentation and they function perfectly, with the following exception, there is a problem with synchronisation between the sound (corresponding sound files to movie files are also saved to the PC/laptop) and the image I'm seeing on the screen. I've spent many hours on the phone trying to get tech support from Microsoft directly, but they cannot seem to isolate the problem. I have recreated the presentation from scratch at least half a dozen times and only once, managed to get the whole thing synchronised and running properly on my PC, then saved the presentation, movie and sound files to a USB and transferred it all to the laptop and once again, I have the time lapse between sound and image.     - Powerpoint flicks, especially the first slide. How do I stop powerpoint from flicking when trying to use a powerpoint show slide show on the projector. Xp system. Both Dell machines. Projector can run via S cable DVD fine, its just when you try to use the laptop pc that it will not work properly. when there is a source, pushing Fn F8 does get powerpoint up on the projector (though it is 2/3 of the screen size, and its flicking as well as making the laptop squeek in time. I have 5 pc with windows xp sp2.
I have office 2003 basic in all the pc.
I have installed power point viewer 2007 but doesn't work. If i open only
the program (Start->program->power point viewer 2007) nothing happens.
If i make double click to ppt file nothing happens.
I have uninstalled power point viewer 2007 from control panel and i have
installed power point viewer 2003. With power point viewer 2003 works but i
don't see correctly ppt file made by power point viewer 2007.
I have tried to install full version power point 2007 in one pc and works
correctly.
Can someone help me?

PPT 2007 Viewer is really just the 2003 Viewwer + the compatibility pack
that allows it to open PPTX/PPSX files.

You must have all critical Windows updates installed in order for the
compatibility pack to work, though. So that's where I'd start -- I'd hit
Windows Updates and install all updates, then reinstall the PPT 2007 Viewer
and see if it works then.
