    - PPT is Skipping Slides I'm using Office 2003 with Windows XP, SP2. I have a presentation that consistently skips from slide 9 to slide 13 and again from slide 38 to the end (skipping the final slide, 29). I don't see any triggers or hyperlinks on the slides to make that happen. I can go through each slide in normal mode but not in slideshow mode. This slideshow was used before and has been reformatted, so maybe something's corrupted, but I'm not sure what. I've tried copying and pasting slide 9 and then deleting the original, but that didn't work. I've also tried deleting slide 9 and that doesn't help either.     - rehearsed timings Is it possible to rehearse timings for individual slides, rather than rehearsing timing for the entire slideshow? This would make any timing editing a lot easier, because if I need to change anything I could just change the rehearsed timing of one slide, instead of recording the rehearsed timings for the entire slideshow over again.     - How do I set the outline default to collapse text in Powerpoint? How do I set the outline default to collapse text in Powerpoint? When using the outline on the left side of the screen, I would like to set my default so that it always collapses text. I only use the outline to navigate to slides when editing. It is much easier to navigate if I collapse so that I can see as many slides as possible. When I insert new slides I then have to collapse that new slide. After inserting a slide, clicking the little icon expands all and then collapses again. Alt+Shift+1 is just another set of keystrokes I don't want to have to learn.     - Powerpoint slides containing Flash loading static, not animating? I have created a 5-slide PP presentation. Each slide contains a Flash movie. I would create the whole thing in just Flash, but my client insists on a Powerpoint presentation. I insert the Shockwave Flash Objects and they work fine on this computer. The slides work just like I want. However, when I play them on another computer, each slide loads static at one frame of each flash file. Now that I think about it, on the computer I created the presentation in, I had viewed the presentation just to see if clicking would advance like I wanted it to. Some slides I clicked through while the Flash movie was still playing, and I think the last frame I saw was where it stopped, and where it stays when I view the presentation on another computer. I used VBA code to automatically rewind each flash movie on entering its respective slide, but that doesn't seem to be taking effect. Could it have something to do with VisualBasic not being installed on a computer that would cause it to do this? Sorry for any confusion - I'm not quite sure how to put this into words.     - Placeholder pasting PPT 2007 Hi, Is there a way programmatically that I can paste a chart into a placeholder on a power point slide? I have the means to identify a placeholder on the slide but I have yet to find any way to replicate the behaviour one observes when a user selects a placeholder and pastes a chart from Excel into it using Ctrl V. This effectively sizes the image from the clipboard to the dimensions of the placeholder and it appears to hide the original placeholder. If one was to delete the chart the original placeholder returns. If anyone can provide any information it would be appreciated.     - Viewing .PPS in seperate window Hi, I have saved a few powerpoint presentations usinf PPT 2003 as a .PPS file and was able to open it in a seperate window that I could resize. This is ideal, but I tried to do it wiht a few presentations today and it didn't open it in a window I could resize. It was full-screen all the time. Would it make a difference if there was animation or narration in the presenation? Why would one presentation open a different way when saved as the same file type? Thanks!     - Datamapping to Excel PPT 2003 Need some help. I'm trying to datamap to Excel. On a slide I want to show the live contents (linked) of a single cell from an Excel file. On the slide I will have several such objects. I tried copying a cell and pasting as a link into the slide. It worked fine except the visual quality was bad. Being Excel used 10pt, contents appeared too small on the slide, and the edges of the characters were jagged in Slide Show. I enlarged the linked object and it looked fine, but in Slide Show, it was so jagged it was unacceptable. Is this the only way to do this? I'm not a stranger to PPT and will even take VBA suggestions. I'm very familiar with PPT and even used to program VBA with it, but it's been a long long time.     - Count mouse clicks on build slides and show during presentation When I say a build slide, I mean a slide with content that is added with each additional mouse click, like step one is X, step two is Y, and you advance through the different parts of the slide. This is what I mean by a build slide.     - Graph bars are shrinking! Using PP2003: When I update the data chart by adding a column the graph bars become so thin they look lines instead of bars. There is PLENTY of space between each bar (only five columns of data are shown and the graph is the only thing on the slide). I tried going into Format Data Series | Options and decreasing the gap width to 0, which helped slightly but did not sufficiently resolve.     - Web PowerPoint Presentation displays incorrectly on laptop I just recently published a PowerPoint Presentation as a Web Page using PowerPoint 2003 from Windows XP. The url is www.pioneerstaffing.com/ppt/hiretalent.htm It displays correctly on computers, but one of our end users, uses a laptop. I am not sure if it has to do with his screen resolution etc. But even after having him change this, the error still occurs. His screen resolution is 1280 x 800 running on Windows XP using IE 7.0. Even when he views using Slide Show full screen, it still displays incorrectly. What occurs is that the titles are positioned lower, so it appears as if the line goes through them, text on the pie chart is displaced etc. When publishing the web page, I selected IE version 4.0 or higher and target monitor of 800 x 600.     - ApplyTemplate method problem Hi all, I'm trying to use the VB ApplyTemplate method from a Presentation object (as ActivePresentation). What I want to do is simple: I want to change the design template of a presentation through a VB script (by this I mean: clear all masters that the presentation can have and load the masters in the design template -including notes masters -). What I do is lso simple: ActivePresentation.ApplyTemplate ("a:\path:\to\design\template\design_file.pot") But this doesn't work... In one case, the method call has loaded the 1st master slide of the design template and added this master slide to the list of the already available masters in the presentation. In another case, the method did nothing (no master was imported) I'm a little confused about this... Does anybody has an idea of how to make this work? I've saved this design template in the default template folder of Powerpoint with the name "blank.pot" in order to define my design template as the default for all new presentations. This works great. However, I've noticed that the 1st master is automatically renamed to "blank" when I open a new presentation. Each prject will have a slide based on a title master followed by svereal slides based on slide masters then again a title slide followed by several slide and so on.     - PowerPoint 2007 - Layout changes not applied I have been struggling with understanding the logic that applies to the "footer" of a slide and the layouts. It seems insanely complicated, but perhaps someone can explain it for me. At the root of it seems to be that if you or anyone edits, moves, or touches an element that arose from a template, then it loses all association with the template thereby making it extremely difficult to create a template that will allow a range of users to create consistent looking presentations, and to facilitate future updates to slide formatting etc. Consider this simple example: - Create blank new 3-slide presentation with a title page, a title+content page and a "two content" page using the Layout drop-down on the Home tab. - In the Insert Tab, click Header&Footer, check only the Page and Footer boxes. Type a word in the Footer text box, click "Apply to All". So far so good. - Now lets say we want all our "Two Content" slides to have the date,footer, and page fields much lower because those pages run out of vertical space too often. Go to Master View, and reposition the 3 fields a bit lower just for that layout. (Noting the tooltip on the layout thumbnail that confirms this layout is being used by slide #3, for example.) - Now close Master view and return to Normal. Strangely, page 3 still has the footer and page number in the same old place (and presumably the same would apply to the date), and was unaffected by this change to the layout. - To be even more thorough, I save this file as a .pptx and also as a .potx. Then I re-load the .pptx and explicitly apply the theme found in the .potx. That should apply the changes to that layout. But no, the new definition of my Two-Content Layout with the lower footer is not applied to the slides in the presentation that are based on that Layout. What is going on here?     - Get rid of slide advance buttons on Master How do I get rid of the forward, back, and pen icons that appear during slide show view (bottom left corner)? They're not on the slide master so I can't delete them and I would prefer to create my own buttons. It was my understanding that this is done through the Master Slide and saved as either blank.potx or blank.potm and placed in %appdata%\Microsoft\Templates and that would be the default template loaded. The first I open out Powerpoint 2007 though I get the message "The install language for Office has been changed. Powerpoing cannot user yoru current version of "blank.potx". All the files are there and I can play the presentation, but the CD will not auto-play. Anyone have any ideas? HELP! My PP format/text changes when I project it using laptop. Is it that
my PC screen is larger and laptop smaller? Can I fix without having to

Help us understand what's actually happening.

Let's start with this: you're running from CD. Does the CD presentation run
correctly on the laptop if a projector is not attached to the laptop? Or are
you just saying that it doesn't work on the laptop, but it does on a desktop
computer?

Which version of PPT did you create the file in?

Do you have the same fonts on the PC and Laptop?
