    - converted power point to video i converted my power point presentation to video in both formats mpeg for quicktime viewing and wmp for windows media player. both will show my video perfectly (w/ the right animations, transitions, ect) except there is no sound. in the original power point presentation, i embbeded the song and just playing or viewing it in the power point...everything works perfectly fine. i tried so many ways but i just can't find a way to bring the out the sound when i convert my ppt to video...     - .SWF files are not friendly in Powerpoint 2003 The .swf file functionality needs fixing in Powerpoint 2003 (likely 2007 too). I have no problem adding them to a presentation. It is getting them to automatically play in whatever the mode e.g. normal, slideshow, etc.. The first time it is added and played via slideshow, no problem. After that I have to manually play the .swf in slideshow mode.     - How do i open my Powerpoint? My powerpoint icon seems different then others. There is a llittle box in the coner of the Powerpoint Icon. When i double-click on it, it opens as an open file box and whatever file i open it says that it can't find the file.     - Text unreadable in Powerpoint I recently installed MS office 2007 professional plus (The student editition purchased throught the university) It worked fine for a month or so but last month, just about the time our proffessor started putting all of our study materials on powerpoint, the text on all powerpoints became unreadable. It appears that the text stacks up on its self, leaving me with nothin but black spots the width of one character. I have tried un installing and reinstalling MS Office several times. I even uninstalled it and deleted every referance of it out of the registry. I tried uninstalling it and updating my video driver and reinstalling it, and I have run all hardware diagnostics with all hardware passing.     - Printing 2007 downloaded template in color from 2003 I downloaded a 2007 version template from this site and it works well - except for color printing. When I try to print in color, I can only get greyscale. My printer and program print fine in color - it is definitely the template and I suspect the version that causes this. I ahve even tried to PDF for color printing - which works but caused the file to balloon to 400+ MB and takes forever. Any solution to resolve this?     - PowerPoint2007 intercharacter spacing I have having an intermittent but major problem with the intercharacter spacing in ppt files that I am working on. At time, some characters seems to be displaying on top of each other, even to the point that 1 time all characters in the main boady of the presentation on all pages was smashed on the 1st character position.     - Advice on pasting charts from Excel to Powerpoint please I have an Excel sheet which has several small charts already arranged side by side. I just want to transfer them to a Powerpoint slide as a single simple image, I don't need any links or updating. I can select the area of the page with the charts, and then use copy and paste-special. If I choose Picture (enhanced metafile), then some parts of the image get changed, e.g. the background colour of the text in the legend changes from grey to white. On the other hand, if I choose Bitmap, the image comes through without changes, but looks a bit fuzzy, as if I need to increase the resolution. It would be really useful if there was an option in the footer of the Slide Master to allow users to add the next slide title automatically.     - Embedded video is blank Hi. I have a powerpoint project that runs fine on my desktop and even runs fine off a DVD copy or a Thumb drive copy on my Toshiba Satelite notebook. The problem is when I transfer it onto the hard drive of the notebook. All except one of the videos embedded into the project run fine. One of the videos just comes up with a blank screen.     - A couple of features PowerPoint is missing The lack of these two features leaves me looking for an alternative to PowerPoint. The first is moving backgrounds. Essentially the ability to add a video clip as a background to a slide. The other is Alert Messages. We use PowerPoint in our Church. Our Nursery Staff would like the ability to display the wristband number of a child who's parent need to come to the nursery. Alternately this could be a message like "Mr Smith you have a phone call". I have had some success finding add-ons for the moving backgrounds, but I have had no luck with the Alert Messages. Given that an integrated Presentation Manager with these features will cost me around $200-$300, I am not sure the $150-$300 price tag for an add-on to do moving backgrounds is worth it. I would prefer to stay with PowerPoint, but these are must haves according to our staff. Anyone know how I can package my slide (yes 1 slide with lots of sound and animation) so that when I email it and they click on it - it opens as a slideshow automatically?     - Powerpoint 2007 Crashes when viewing or trying to apply themes When ever I view themes in Powerpoint 2007, or try to apply an existing theme to an open presentation, powerpoint closes and gives me an error. I have run diagnostics, I have installed the latest updates, I had my client test it out as well and it also crashed for them. I am in vista, they are in XP.     - Midi no longer plays I have two presentations with midi files inserted into slides. They worked fine a week ago, but now no loger play. Everything else works fine, wav files, wmv, mpg, etc. I tried removing and re-inserting to no avail. I don't have QuickTime installed. One being the powerpoint and one being the sound file. I am trying to post a PPt which contains a sound file (in mp3) to be downloaded by others. I want them to be able to get it in one try. I can no longer tolerate this in Powerpoint 2007. When adjusting a freeform
shape point by point, each adjustment snaps the view to the centre of the
object. The point you were editing is now off screen and you have to go look
for it. This didn't happen in 2003 version. What used to take seconds now
takes many minutes. What a stupid behaviour this is. Microsoft's help
database is useless on this. Anyone got a fix? Many thanks

It's a known bug with no fix or workaround. Yes, it's annoying as hell.
We're all hoping Microsoft will fix it in the next service pack or a patch
or something.
