    - PowerPoint2007 - AutoRecovery Not Working Howdy, Auto recovery feature is turned on, but it fails to capture latest data (within 5min). We tested this with XP SP2/SP3 and Vista SP1. Not having same issue with Word or Excel 2007. In addition documents that we composed were in pure PowerPoint 2007 and in compatibility mode. Either way when PPTX crashed we can't recover document(s). When I go back to look if the Auto recovery feature is enable, it is not - this is the puzzling piece. How can I ensure that it stays on? Is there something that we do that causes to turn its self off? This defeats the purpose of having auto recovery if you can use it. Please suggest a way to troubleshoot this issue.     - Fill effect is transparent, but print is not Power Point 2003. On top of a JPG image a put a box that is filled with color. The top box is tranparent with some fill effect so that it looks like the image underneath it is edited that way. Looks great on presentation, but print preview and printing (color) does not include the transparency effect. HP printer is networked but settings seem OK.     - Lines and Text Boxes - Functionality Question I want to create a flow diagram and link various decision and process boxes with lines which have text in them - e.g. a line coming from a decision diamond with a label YES on it and connected to a process box. I have browsed several posts and I am now under the impression that it is not possible to have a single line with text on it. This seems amazing - given that Powerpoint has gobbled up Visio and Visio supported such functionality.     - .pps opens as a .ppt in Powerpoint 2002. Hi, Using PowerPoint 2002, I store my slideshows in the My Documents folder. If, to retrieve a slideshow, I start PowerPoint | File | Open, My Documents is displayed. When I open a .pps file from this My Documents window the slideshow comes up in .ppt mode instead. This anomaly applies to all the stored .pps files. If instead, I go to My Documents directly and open a .pps file, the slideshow starts up as we'd expect from a .pps.     - Re-display text after it's dimmed Hey everyone, PPT 2003 I set up custom animation to DIM the text after animating, so each bullet will turn gray when I display the next one. How do I RE-display that dimmed text when I'm done? In other words, when I reach the end of the slide, I want all of the bullet points to turn black again so people can see them and ask questions on them.     - Cant Open .PPT File I'm attempting to open an old power point file. When I double click on the file, I get the message "The path or file name for A:\STUB.PPT is Invalid. Please check that the path and file name are correct". The file path and name are OK. When I attempt to open the file from within Power Point, I get the message "You are attempting to open a file type that is blocked by your registry policy setting". I'm using Power point R 2003(11.8227.8202) SP3. I'm running XP Professional SP3. I get identical results when trying to open a copy of the file from my hard drive. The file was probably created using a version of Power Point prior to R 2003. The file is no longer available, so I can't get a new copy. Any suggestions?     - Trouble Embedding a .wav file to play across slides Hello all, I've been having a bit of a problem embedding a .wav file to play across slides. Here's what I've tried: 1. I've set the max sound file size to 50,000 KB 2. Inserted the .wav sound file (size 2,771 KB) It plays just fine here and PowerPoint Options show that it is an embedded sound file [contained in presentation]. 3. Next, I checked the option "Hide Sound Icon During Slide Show" and set to play the sound "Across Slides" The sound file played the first time during the presentation; however when I saved, closed, and reopened the presentation the sound file would not play in presentation mode or when clicking the sound icon. All the settings remained the same. PowerPoint still can "see" the sound file as being contained in the presentation. It just won't play. If you'd like to try this yourself on your own computer, the sound file I'm using is one from the MS Clip Organizer called "Fiber Optics" Any ideas as to why or how this is happening would be greatly appreciated.     - Powerpoint server application error Hi, I have gotten the same error in powerpoint consistently and all the fixes on support.microsoft.com and online have been unable to fix the problem. I have installed Powerpoint XP, uninstalled it and installed Powerpoint 2003, and am getting the same error on both. I am using Windows XP Service Pack 2. When I create a graph in powerpoint (by simply doubleclicking the slide layout that includes a graph or by going to insert graph), I can enter the variables I want and create my bar graph. But after I exit out of editing that graph and go to another slide, I am unable to double click that graph again. So I cannot view the datasheet, change the data on the graph, or change features of the graph like the legend or bar colors once the graph is created. When I try to double-click the graph, it says "Microsoft Office Powerpoint can't start the application required to open this object. An error occured and this feature is no longer functioning properly. Would you like to repair this feature now?" If I say yes, it says it is installing Application Server. But after it tries to install this, it says "The server application, source file, or item can't be found, or returned an unknown error. You may need to reinstall the server application." The MS support page and online support pages indicate that this may be a problem with Organizational Chart. I read here: http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00236.htm that i should reregister MSgraph by running "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Graph.exe" /regserver, but this didn't work in either PPT XP or PPT 2003. Note that the MS support pages and internet pages indicate that the typical problem where this error message comes up is when someone is using a recent version of PPT to open a graph or excel spreadsheet created in PPT 97. This is not what is happening for me - I get this problem immediately after creating a graph, without even saving my file or closing out of PPT 2003. So this is not due to incompatibility between versions. I wiped my Dell desktop using a PC Restore to the original condition that it was in when it was sent to me, and then I deleted some of the programs that came installed on it - "Dell bloatware". I am wondering if perhaps I deleted something that was necessary for this feature. After installing my OS, I then tried installing Office XP and then after that Office 2003, both of which immediately had this issue with PPT. So this is not an error that has developed over time, but has been there since I installed Office. Video clips should reside on your PC and in the folder you are saving the
presentation to. To insert one, Insert > Movie From File.
