    - Count mouse clicks on build slides and show during presentation When I say a build slide, I mean a slide with content that is added with each additional mouse click, like step one is X, step two is Y, and you advance through the different parts of the slide. This is what I mean by a build slide. When you are helping with a presentation, and you do not know the content, you are never sure if you should click 4 times to complete the build of 5, and if you go one too far, you have to backspace.     - Graph bars are shrinking! Using PP2003: When I update the data chart by adding a column the graph bars become so thin they look lines instead of bars. There is PLENTY of space between each bar (only five columns of data are shown and the graph is the only thing on the slide). I tried going into Format Data Series | Options and decreasing the gap width to 0, which helped slightly but did not sufficiently resolve. Is there another way, manually or automatically, to increase the bar size.     - Sending and linking Power Point as my web page I have created a powerpoint presentation that I want to use as my web page for my business. Old school microsoft all you had to do is hyperlink and the whole file would go and appear when looked up. I've resaerched the P.P.help box & followed the dirrections verbatum and cant find my page when looked up on the web.     - Web PowerPoint Presentation displays incorrectly on laptop I just recently published a PowerPoint Presentation as a Web Page using PowerPoint 2003 from Windows XP. The url is www.pioneerstaffing.com/ppt/hiretalent.htm It displays correctly on computers, but one of our end users, uses a laptop. I am not sure if it has to do with his screen resolution etc. But even after having him change this, the error still occurs. His screen resolution is 1280 x 800 running on Windows XP using IE 7.0. Even when he views using Slide Show full screen, it still displays incorrectly. What occurs is that the titles are positioned lower, so it appears as if the line goes through them, text on the pie chart is displaced etc. When publishing the web page, I selected IE version 4.0 or higher and target monitor of 800 x 600.     - ApplyTemplate method problem Hi all, I'm trying to use the VB ApplyTemplate method from a Presentation object (as ActivePresentation). What I want to do is simple: I want to change the design template of a presentation through a VB script (by this I mean: clear all masters that the presentation can have and load the masters in the design template -including notes masters -). What I do is lso simple: ActivePresentation.ApplyTemplate ("a:\path:\to\design\template\design_file.pot") But this doesn't work... In one case, the method call has loaded the 1st master slide of the design template and added this master slide to the list of the already available masters in the presentation. In another case, the method did nothing (no master was imported) I'm a little confused about this... Does anybody has an idea of how to make this work?     - 1st master name change to presentation filename Hi all, I have created a design template (POT file) with several masters in it (each neamd differently). I've saved this design template in the default template folder of Powerpoint with the name "blank.pot" in order to define my design template as the default for all new presentations. This works great. However, I've noticed that the 1st master is automatically renamed to "blank" when I open a new presentation. Infact, it seems to be renamed according to the name of the design template file... Is there a way to avoid this as I try to produce a VB script based on master names? Each prject will have a slide based on a title master followed by svereal slides based on slide masters then again a title slide followed by several slide and so on.     - PowerPoint 2007 - Layout changes not applied I have been struggling with understanding the logic that applies to the "footer" of a slide and the layouts. It seems insanely complicated, but perhaps someone can explain it for me. At the root of it seems to be that if you or anyone edits, moves, or touches an element that arose from a template, then it loses all association with the template thereby making it extremely difficult to create a template that will allow a range of users to create consistent looking presentations, and to facilitate future updates to slide formatting etc. Consider this simple example: - Create blank new 3-slide presentation with a title page, a title+content page and a "two content" page using the Layout drop-down on the Home tab. - In the Insert Tab, click Header&Footer, check only the Page and Footer boxes. Type a word in the Footer text box, click "Apply to All". So far so good. - Now lets say we want all our "Two Content" slides to have the date,footer, and page fields much lower because those pages run out of vertical space too often. Go to Master View, and reposition the 3 fields a bit lower just for that layout. (Noting the tooltip on the layout thumbnail that confirms this layout is being used by slide #3, for example.) - Now close Master view and return to Normal. Strangely, page 3 still has the footer and page number in the same old place (and presumably the same would apply to the date), and was unaffected by this change to the layout. - To be even more thorough, I save this file as a .pptx and also as a .potx. Then I re-load the .pptx and explicitly apply the theme found in the .potx. That should apply the changes to that layout. But no, the new definition of my Two-Content Layout with the lower footer is not applied to the slides in the presentation that are based on that Layout. What is going on here?     - Get rid of slide advance buttons on Master How do I get rid of the forward, back, and pen icons that appear during slide show view (bottom left corner)? They're not on the slide master so I can't delete them and I would prefer to create my own buttons. However, when I select Set Up Show > Browsed... options, then I can't do a right-click with my mouse to end show (which I would like to keep).     - Default Fonts in Powerpoint 2007 I'm building an image to be massivley deployed and I require a default font for PowerPoint 2007. It was my understanding that this is done through the Master Slide and saved as either blank.potx or blank.potm and placed in %appdata%\Microsoft\Templates and that would be the default template loaded. The first I open out Powerpoint 2007 though I get the message "The install language for Office has been changed. Powerpoing cannot user yoru current version of "blank.potx". Your current version of blank.potx has been renaimed to "oldblank.potx" and can be found in C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates. Please see help for more information about how to reuse the settings in your original file" You can click OK or Help.     - Getting ticker to run continuously throughout the PRESENTATION! HELP! I am working on 2 very long presentations (each over 50 slides) that will run contiuously on 2 flat screen monitors for 11 hours a day! I have finally found this discussion board which helped me create a ticker on the Master Slide (didn't know about that!) and it works, however, when I start the presentation, the ticker scrolls (yes!) the first slide plays, (another yes!) BUT the presentation won't continue until the ticker finishes. NOT GOOD! I need the ticker to run throughout the ENTIRE PRESENTATION and not hinder the runtime of the presentation itself!     - Links to Excel cells no longer found Hello - I am using PPT 2007 and Excel 2007, and have copied a few Excel cells to my PPT presentation. I used the Paste Special and Paste Link as a "Microsoft Office Excel Worksheet Object" options because I need this content to update in PPT, as the Excel file updates. When I first performed the copy and paste special, I tested the link by changing data in Excel - the PPT presentation immediately updated. If I close the Excel file (saving changes), reopen it, and make changes (I did not close the PPT file yet)- my PPT presentation does not automatically update, but I can right-click on the object and update the link. This worked, and the Excel changes reflected in PPT. However, once I close PPT (saving changes) and reopen the file, the links are not found. I get the security warning, choose to update links, and then receive the warning that some linked files were unavailable and can't be updated. When I right-click the object and choose Update Link, I get the warning "The linked file was unavailable and can't be updated." When I go to Prepare / Edit Links to Files, my Excel worksheet shows as "unavailable." I choose "Change Source" (the open source button is not available), reselect my file, the Update column in the Links dialog box changes to "Automatic" and I close the dialog box. After doing this, I tried to update the link through the right-click method, but get "The linked file was unavailable..." message again. Going back to the Links dialog box shows the link unavailable again. I have saved the two files in the same folder on a network drive. I cannot save anything to the hard drive because it's not backed up. No one else has access to the files except me. I've tried this on two different files with the same results. So, it comes down to - what's going on??? It would be a great feature, if it worked! Is there a process that I'm not following? I'm up for any suggestions! Thanks! All objects are grouped together, or could be ungrouped if required. Please help! -I have tried greyscale/color settings.. this seems not to be the issue. -The image was added to slide by insert-->picture-->from file -it is not the background of the slide -was initially very large, i have fit it to the size of slide -I need to eventually print it to 40inx28in on laser plotter (I have played around with printer settings and page setup settings) The image shows up in print preview--but does not print. I have tried printing the file to a PDF just to test, and the image does not show up in pdf (it looks just like what comes off the printer) I apologize if this is longer than it needs to be, but I've tried to include all information that could ever be relevant! How do I automatically insert image filenames into caption boxes? I have a
folder full of jpg files. I want to insert pictures into picture boxes, and
then insert
the appropriate captions (consisting of filenames) into text boxes
underneath each picture. I'm using PowerPoint 2007 and I'd like to automate
this process. Thanks.

Hi

You can use the Photo Album feature for this:
1. Insert -> Photo Album -> New Photo Album
2. Click 'From file/disc' and browse to the folder containing your pics
3. Select the pictures you want (hold ctrl while clicking them or click
first one then hold shift & click last one if you want them all) -> insert
4. Under Album Layout select '1 picture' from Picture Layout dropdown.
5. Change Frame Shape & Theme if you want to
6. Tick 'Captions below ALL pictures' box (this option is greyed out if you
select Fit to Slide Picture Layout option)
7. Click Create.
