    - Problem with security Hi all, i have a problem with security on my 2003 Sharepoint portal installation. I create a lot of webPart and a lot of webPart Page on my site with Administrator access. When i'm logging to the site with this userName all works correctly. But when i try to login with an other user i cannot logon and, after three tentatives, im redirected to the "request access page". I just try to add those users to the site users list and join them to site groups. I try also join users to Administrator group but without results. I discovered that the problem occurs only on my custom webPart and if i use the standard webpart like lists or webcontent all works correctly for all users.     - Backward DC can't display > 3000 files Got this folder inside SPS 2003 backward compatibility DC that contains about 3500 files. The page return an error when I try to view the content.     - WSS & SPS different search result Hi Got 2 weird problem regarding search on SPS & WSS I have this document library inside a WSS site that contains pdf files. I already installed the pdf ifilter. When I try to search on the site, it return about 50 documents from the document library. But, when I perform the search (using the same keyword) on the portal site (SPS) it only return only 13 documents from the same document library. Why is that ??? I logged on using administrator so security is not an issue. Also try to reindex, but result still the sam Second problem. Performing the search on the wss site will return only the document's file name. Search from inside the document library will return file name and the title.     - http and https confusion I have SSL on my server. When I am on the network and accessing a page via http://xxxxxxxxxxx then evrerything is fine. When I go off site and hit https://xxxxxxxxxxx.xxx.xxx (the x's are accurate representations) the images and pages linked to in a "Web Page part" that only have http in their URLs become broken.     - Why files are read only? I have SBS2003. I created a onenote file and placed it on the sharepoint server. I keep daily notes on it. If I open the file on another computer, the purpose of sharepoint, my original computer will show the file as read only. I can close the file, restart the computer, close the file on the other computer, shut down the other computer, disconnect it from the netork, etc. The file will forever be read only on the original computer that created the file and on which all of the work was done. The new computer on which I opened the file to look at it will always open it in read/write. Noting I do other than creating a new file, copying the onenote file into it, placing it back on the sharepoint server under a different name will allow me to edit the file on the original computer.     - Unable to Compile Audiences Hello I am trying to compile some new audiences for content targeting but am failing. The message I am receiving on the page is "The audience cannot be compiled, because the account used to compile audiences does not have the proper rights. Change the rights for this account on the Specify Compilation Schedule page so that it has read and write access to the user profile database. I have full administrative rights and cannot see any area to specify user data in the specify compilation schedule page!     - How to avoid multiple log in dailogs I'm hosting several WSS sites with the inbox and calendar webparts pointing to my Exchange 2003 box. After users log into the WSS site they're prompted again to log into the inbox/calendar. How can I eliminate the second login prompt? The WSS site is running on a member server that's trusted (I believe) with the domain controller machine which is where Exchange is running. Is this a trust issue or something else?     - SPS 2001 - document profile error The following error is occurring on our SPS 2001 server. We are running with SP1 and keep getting a message that "the tahoe server has encountered the following error: create object (cdo.knowledgefolder) - error number: 800703E6" This occurs when using the Windows Explorer interface and try to check in a document. Closing the message window causes Windows Explorer to close. This error does not occur if using the web interface to upload a document and check it in. Has anyone encountered this problem?     - Events Web Part - Showing on parent area as well as child area I have created an area, and a sub-area. In the sub-area, I created an event calendar. I then added a web part to this sub-area to show a few items of the event calendar.     - Going back to SPS2001, can't connect to library Well, SPS 2003 turned out to be utterly useless without the workflow features or Office 2000 support, so I have re-installed SPS 2001.     - web component I just finished installing share point portal server. I see only share point portion, I do not see web component, search component , index component. I went Server topology page and I see there only share point portion being run. I took the default installation while installing. In even viewer, I do not see any errors.     - cannot find BIN folder I want to install a web part. I don't have the .cab file but I do have the .dwp file and the assembly file (.dll). I dropped the .dwp file in the wpcatalog folder of our virtual server and now I want to drop the .dll file in the BIN folder on the virtual server. (The third step will be modifying the web.config file) BUT I can't find the damn BIN folder :-( I've looked in c:\inetpub\wwwroot but the BIN folder just isn't there. The already installed web parts all work fine, so there must be a BIN folder somewhere, no ? What am I overlooking here ? (We have a single server setup with only one virtual server, and the Portal is installed as "Default Web Site" under "Web Sites" in IIS 6.0) Thanks for clearing this up for me.     - Cannot Delete Areas I am trying to delete an area from the portal. You would think this would be pretty easy, however, the request seems to take forever.     - Web Parts Disappeared from Virtual Server Gallery First of all, I am not using SharePoint Portal Server but I cannot locate the appropriate newsgroup I have a set of web parts (the LeadIt Essentials, to be exact) that I loaded into the /bin folder and then drag and dropped into the Global Assembly (Winnt\Assembly). The site secured using SSL does have Host Headers but it specifies all unassigned Everything was working just dandy for weeks and then today - soap errors all over the place when I try and edit my pages using FrontPage 2003. When I went to view the Virtual Server Gallery, everything was gone. I added the reference to the dll in the applicable webconfig file. We removed the SSL requirement and now when I access the site via http - I can see my web parts in the Virtual Server Gallery and can add them to a page and everything functions. But when I try to edit the page in FrontPage, accessing it via http, I still cannot edit the existing pages. I can create a new page, pull a web part from the virtual server gallery, but then I'm told it is not registered as safe.
