Hi, Wondering if it's possible to customize sharepoint profiles (in MOSS 2007) so they support a profile property based on a field lookup, instead of a choice list. I have several thousand users in my instance of MOSS. Each user can be associated with one or more of 13,000 companies. I already have the 13,000 companies in a sharepoint list and would simply like to add a profile property to the user profiles. This will allow users to select all the companies they manage. Basically, I'd like to replace the defined choice list with a true sharepoint list. Has anyone done this or can anyone imagine how I can accomplish this?     - MOSS stsadm migration niggles Greetings all, Go easy on me, it's my first post. So a little background. Looking at doing a migration of content and such from one MOSS install to another as part of an initial release. Both servers are running MOSS 2007, service packed and good to go. For this migration, I'm using: stsadm -o export -url http://moss -filename c:\temp\bulkexport.cab -overwrite -versions 4 -includeusersecurity -cabsize 300 and the corresponding import after setup at the other end. For this I get no errors and just one warning related to a Web Part issue I'm currently investigating (likely not related to the below issue, as it's a single Web Part). I've succeeded in testing the migration with only a few small issues. 1. We're getting an error on some pages similar to the following: Unable to display this Web Part. To troubleshoot the problem, open this Web page in a Windows SharePoint Services-compatible HTML editor such as Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer. If the problem persists, contact your Web server administrator. This is because some of the data lists are using XSLT transforms, therefore are using webparts. The code for these is similar to the following (it's a little way down, apologies in advance, not easy to read). The problem is, that when these pages are migrated, the GUIDs have to be manually "realigned" in Sharepoint Designer on the destination MOSS server as they don't match up correctly to the GUIDs of the lists. From the looks of this url: http://webborg.blogspot.com/2007/08/resolving-to-display-this-web-part.html this seems to be a bug with Sharepoint Designer, but what I'm unsure of is how this is still a problem after migration. Only thing I can suggest (I'm yet to test this theory out) is that it's possible from reading that the GUIDs aren't aligned because of the missing braces? I'm going to do some more investigation into this, but wondering if anyone had ideas. Note the example below is *after* the GUIDs have been changed and enclosed with {}. After migration, hidden state of navigation items is not persisted. This specific site has two levels of nav, so this is a bit of a pain. To fix this, got to go into Site Actions -> Site Settings -> Modify Navigation for each nav area and hide the nav items as appropriate. Is there a better way to go about migrating navigation items, so that their state (hidden or not) is preserved? Am I missing something on export that would correct this issue?     - error creating deployment path - known issue resolution fails ok so I am attempting to migrate a large amount of content from one MOSS server to another on a different farm in the same domain. I have migrated all of the sites except the largest (of course) which has failed using the same technique as the others which was to use "stsadm -o export". If I use "stsadm -o export" it failes about 50-60% the way through the import. I have even tried the nofilecompression option on export and import to get around disk space problems. Anyway, i want to try the migration path option but when I attempt to set up the path I get Value does not fall within the expected range. After some hunting around I found two references to this problem: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/products/FX101633851033.aspx http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926281 The machine I am trying to migrate has been in use since Beta TR1(?) I believe and has since been upgraded to RTM. The problem occurs when I attempt to run the set of commands described in both articles as follows: Stsadm -o deactivatefeature -name deployment -url URL Stsadm -o deactivatefeature -name migration -url URL Stsadm -o activatefeature -name deployment -url URL Stsadm -o activatefeature -name migration -url URL When I run either of the first two commands I get the following error Failed to find the XML file at location '12\Template\Features\deployment\feature.xml' Failed to find the XML file at location '12\Template\Features\migration\feature.xml' I have looked and of course those files do not exist. What I dont understand though is that they do not exist on my new clean server to which I have been importing content to and that I am able to create deployment paths from the new machine to the old... The same Vendor has a filemanager, thsat should be fine for the task except it does not handle web paths (that is, I cant give it a web path for the picture library)... any ideas to provide this functionality (without writing the functionality on my own that is :o)?     - Restore Capabilities. Hi, Hoping someone can help me urgently. I've just deleted a document library on sharepoint server 2003 by mistake. Its around 213mb in size and although in theory it can be restored, it does contain alot of version history. Our sys admin guys claim that it is possible to restore the document library and the all the version if they do a full portal restore. But everyone else in the organisation loses any chnages they made to the portal in that timeframe. Is it possible to simply restore a document library itself, and all the version history that is held within it without using the above method.     - Upload multiple ZIP to MOSS from Vista If I want to upload multiple documents to MOSS 2007 from a Vista client, I can not select ZIP files, because they are not shown in the selection window.     - Change default sharepoint page I just setup the sharepoint server. I have created new Sites and Workspaces and would like one of those sites to be my default sharepoint page. Right now when you go to \\ServerName it brings up the default sharepoint page that has nothing in it. I created a page called home at \\ServerName\Home and that is where I would like it to default when someone types in \\ServerName. I don't want to tell people to go to \\ServerName\Home, I just want them to have to remember the server name and have it go to the page I want it to. I attempted to change it in IIS with no luck.
