Hi all,

I'm new to MOSS2007 and was wondering how I can do the following in
MOSS2007.

Scenario :
The HR would like to have the focal review documentation done online.
The Focal Review document is in MS Word 2003 format.
Once the manager submit the focal review document, the manager's
manager need to approve the document.
The employee can only view his own document with Read Only permission.

Feel free to ask for any details.
Thank you in advance for responding to this.

Regards,
BG

Hi there,

Just create a document library, and upload the docs.
Add the employee to the Readers Goup.
Done!

Thanks for the reply.

However, what you have suggested also means members of Readers are
able to read all documents in the Document Library. I understand that
this can be solved by setting individual permission for each of the
document.

But what about the workflow (approval by manager) part ?
I know MOSS2007 has an approval workflow that comes out-of-the-box.
How can I create a workflow that will automatically request the
manager of the requester for approval ?

Another question I have :
How can I find out which folder in the Document Library does not have
any document in it ?

Thank you once again.

if you are reading to handle rights on individual documents. then, I
will preffer to do the following steps:

Enable content approval in the document library.
Assign manger's manger approval rights.
Subcribe for alerts.
When manger create a document, the document will be visisble to
approve / reject view only.
alert will be sent to managers's manager.
If mangaer's manage approve the document, it will be displayed in ALL
Documents view.

hope that works.

Hi Valan,

Look up the web there are enough and more examples for deploying
webservices which will fetch the manager name from either ActiveDir or
a any other source of your choice.
