Infopath 2003 template in MOSS 2007
Infopath 2003 digital signatures on SharePoint 2003 are not vaild on MOSS
after migration. I downloaded template form SharePoint 2003 and open in
design mode in Infopath 2007, It shows to update template, I updated it. Now
I published it to MOSS when I have already migrated my forms from SharePoint
2003. When I am feeling new forms it is ok and my new digital signatures are
preserved. But when I am opening old migrated forms they go back to old
SharePoint for template, Then I relinked. Now this forms are using my MOSS
templates but digital signatures are invalid. Please suggest how to preserve
old signatures. One of my friend said that once you update your forms form
Infopath 2003 to Infopath 2003 sp1 or 2007 it doen't recognize digital

Target Audience in a MOOS List
Hi,
I create a SharePoint List and I'm not able to get target audience running.
I created a SharePoint Group (it is not possible to add a single user) and
add a user to this group. I enabled Target audience for this list and I put
the new SharePoint list as the target audience for an item in this list and
every body is still able to see the Item in the list.
Where is my mistake and is it possible to add single users to the target
audience instead of creating a Sharepoint Group?

Hi,
I have a list where I only want users to enter data in a Datasheet View.
I hide the the Toolbar so that they only see the Datasheet.
The problem is that there is still the TASK PANE on the right and i would
like to hide this also.

SQL 2005 sp2 reporting services error with sharepoint 2007..
I get this error via the log files on the actual reporting server when i
click on the server defaults link via reporting services in Central
management:
"SharePoint content service is null". Report Server may not have joined the
SharePoint farm, or Report Server service account may not have been granted
access to farm
I also get these errors on the actual screen, depending on whether i have
clicked on the link on the sharepoint server or from the reporting server:
While on the sharepoint 2007 server.. from central management i get:

I'm running the sharepoint server on a seperate 2008 server box, while sql
2005 is on its own box, with sharepoint 2007 installed there too (for object
use only.. web front end etc).. i installed the RS add-in on the real
sharepoint box (2008 server)..
I'm fairly certain i have tried the things mentioned in this thread:

At this point i have the reporting web service and both application pools
using a domain admin identity (sqlservice account name).
I've rolled through and done the setspn steps, on both the reporting server
and the sharepoint 2007 server.
I've also tried adding the sqlservice account as a site collection
administrator. (i couldnt see how to add the local account network service
as a site collection admin)..
I have things set to run as trusted account in the central management
setting.
I really dont know what else to try here..I'm also not sure if its an
interaction issue with 2008 server or not..
I also have the reporting services add-in installed on only the
original/main sharepoint 2007 server, which i had trouble getting installed
at first.. it would roll back at the end, the log would reveal an error about
sharepoint not being installed or configured but i was able to install by
doing the files only install trick, followed by the command line install and
parameter (-I)..
I've also set the reporting server virtual directory to integrated mode if
it wasnt already (i didnt do this option on the central admin web site
though, i was afraid to hose our intranet).
I have multiple sql 2005 instances on this box, so there are multiple
report servers listed in IIS.
If i try to browse to the report server web page i get:
The report server has encountered a configuration error. See the report
server log files for more information. (rsServerConfigurationError)
**Also.. under central management site settings..site collection features..
Report server integration feature is enabled already..
Any thoughts out there?

Publishing Feature--"Unable to create 'Reusable Content'
Hi there,
We are not able to activate the publishing Feature. Exception is
"Provisioning did not succeed. Failed to create 'Reusable Content'
Library. Object reference not set to an instance of an object".
Our Page content type was customized. We had added two additional
columns in it. These columns were created by us.
Exception also says lots of problems at SPContentType add, derive etc.
We removed the columns but in vain. We deactivated the publishing
feature and tried to reactivate it. Now it is not even being activated
and we receive the above mentioned exceptions.

URL for MySite
Hello All
I have a MOSS 2007 host header site configured and a SSP configured
for the farm. I want to be able to use the same host header URL to
open up and create MySites. At the moment when I click the MySite link
when logged in the URL changes to the internal Web application URL for
example:
The External URL is sharepoint.domain.com and this works fine for site
access with no need to make any changes to AAM. However when I click
the MySite link it reverts to http://SERVERY:2008.
I have tried changing the URL from the SSP administration pages but it
reverts back with a message stating that I need to create a new Web
App with the MySite template installed at the location of the URL I am
entering????
I must admit to getting rather confused by all of this and wondered if
someone could explain what is happening and what I have to do to fix
it. At the moment I have MySites disabled by removing permissions but
its a very cool feature of MOSS and I'd like to fix it.

Problems Moving MOSS Databases Again
Hello,
I tried moving all of my Sharepoint databases from 1 SQL2005 server to
another using the revised instructions (7/24/08) from the following technet
document:

When it was finished nothing worked - neither the web app or central admin.
I brought the databases back up from the old server and everything worked
again.
Does anybody have correct instructions for moving to a new SQL server? Are
there steps missing from the document I referenced above? I tried using the
older version of this document with no luck either.

We have WSS 3.0 site and offcie 2003 on all of our desktops. I have a task
list on this site and each task is assigned to a person with a due date. We
want to send automated email notifications when the due date approaches (like
5, 10, 15 days before the due date) I could not find any functionality out of
the box to achieve this. Unlike Wss 2.0 , the WSS 3.0 alerts can not be set

Reading around on this most things say it is todo with badly formed

I am trying to add Active Directory user groups in the Share Point.
According to Active directory users groups I want to give read
permission for 'A' subsite and 'B' subsite. Another group give

I try to add AD group same as normal user.

Removing ability to add folders from explorer view
Hi there. We have not allowed users to create new folders within
document libraries. Small problem though - when you view a document
library using the explorer view there is the "create a new folder"
option. I doubt that most users will notice it, but of course the
ones that will notice it are the ones that you really don't want to
notice it! :)
Does anyone know whether it is possible to remove this option from the
explorer view?

sending an alert when a date has passed

I'm a novice, working with Microsoft Sharepoint 2007.
I've created a list to monitor the tasks my group has. I've entered a
number of fields to be filled in the task list, such as
"description",
"date created", "responsiblity of" and so on. I also have a field
entitled "due date" which is the date by which the task must be
completed.
I would like to know if there's an option of sending an alert to the
people in the group (preferably to the person in charge of the task)
either the date before the due date or on the day itself. Is it
possible? If so, I would appreciate it if you could try to explain as
clearly as possible how I can do it, or direct me to an appropriate
tutorial on the subject.

How do I move a list while keeping other lists connected that have
I know that you can save a list and its content as a template and then
recreate that list in another site. However, I need to actually move
the list itself so that other lists that link to it remain connected.
If I simply create a new list, I would then need to update the other
list items to point to the new list instead of the old list.
Obviously this would be a pain as I would need to update some 600+
items to point to the new list. Any suggestions as to other ways to

We will be moving our SharePoint servers to a new location (same domain) that
will require us to change the IP address of all of our servers. We have 2
front-ends, 1 index server and a SQL server. The SQL server will be moved at

Default Page must be manually typed in after adding 2nd IP
MOSS 2007 SP1 running on Windows 2003 Ent SP2. Medium Farm config, 2 FE and
separate SQL BE server.
There are two sites running siteA.domain.com and siteB.domain.com,
internally to our network the DNS for siteA and siteB are pointing to FE
server 1. Externally the DNS for the 2 sites is pointing to FE server 2.
The 2 sites were working fine on both FE servers. On the second server we
needed to implement SSL on both sites using the the default port 443. To do
this we added an additional IP address to the interface and configured SSL on
each site to use a separate IP so that SSL could run on the default port for
both sites.
After doing this siteA will not load on server 2 unless you type
siteA.domain.com/default.aspx, if you just type siteA.domain.com you will get
403 forbidden error. siteB on server 2 now generates 404.
I tried setting the IP config back the way it was but the behavior stayed.
I know have a ticket open with MS, but they are taking awhile helping me
troubleshot, so I wanted to see if anyone else had other ideas.
FYI, there is actually a siteC that is not using SSL and it was not effected
by the change. I only have SSL (443) configured to a specific IP, all port

I am trying to integrate my Antivirus Engine with SharePoint (WSS 3.0
and MOSS).
There are two types of scanning involved here:
1) Scanning at the time of Upload and Download (Automatic).
2) Scanning of exisiting documents in document libraries and lists
(Manual or Scheduled).
So as to take care of 1), WSS provides VSAPI.
But i am not sure what approach to take for 2) i.e. scanning of
exisiting documents in document libraries which actually reside in SQL
Server Database.

Easy fix if you have access to AD
Sharepoint won't allow you to use Distribution lists(keeping a long story short). The quick fix is to create a Security Group and set it's email property to the distribution list email address.
Do reimport for AD in SharePoint(I have better luck with full than incremental personaly) and you should be off to the races.

I want to creat list a master form with two subs forms:
i created a custom list name list 1 and this the master
i created a custom list in datasheet view name list name lists 2 and the the
first sub form of master

cascading drop-down lists
Hi everyone,
I have a requirement for 3 stage cascading drop-down lists.
List 1: User selects country.
List 2 is then populated with sub-fields (cities), based upon the
country selected in List 1.
List 3 is then populated with a list of locations in each city.
I know this isn't possible OOTB.
Is there a third-party feature/solution we can buy which enables this
functionality?

MOOS 2007 - "w3wp.exe" problem

we have an environment with a VMWare ESX-Server Start, 2x Intel Xeon 5310,
7GB RAM,
2x36GB RAID1 (OS) + 4x72GB (VMWare Images)
Two virtual machines are installed: 1x SQL 2005 x64 + 1x MOOS 2007 x64
At the moment we have a small and simple website that contain only lists and
a few
documents for testing. Whenever I try to access a
certain url (list, document library etc.) or i make a change of a existing
entry the
CPU (process "w3wp.exe" from the SharePoint server is very high (almost
100%).
I hoped that SP1 for SharePoint does solve the problem, but no luck yet.
Has someone any idea what I can do?

Do List Event Receiver's work in Medium Trust?
Hello all,
I have a question about Sharepoint Event Receivers. I have a
Sharepoint project which needs to run in Medium trust with all custom
assemblies (webparts, event receivers) in the /bin folder. (Our
Sharepoint installation is one of many on a shared server and so we
are limited by not being able to add things to the GAC).
Do you know if custom Event Receiver's are limited to running in the
GAC, or should they work in Medium Trust in the /bin folder? I've
tried them in the /bin folder and none of the events are firing - the
assembly loads in debugger if I attach to the w3wp.exe process but
none of my methods are called. I deploy the solution as a feature and
I'm not getting any errors on deployment.

We have been using sharepoint to build a intranet site within our
company.
As users have been uploading images the folder structure has become
quite messy.

Is there any way that I can view if an image is being used within a
certain page or if it is not used at all. This would be great as I can
then go into these webparts on the correct pages and adjust the links
and then move the images.

Anonymize MOSS Usage analysis
When using the MOSS usage analysis feature like described in
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262541.aspx
SharePoint creates nice staticstics aubout every site, site collection
etc.
Unfortunately because of company privacy policies, one of my clients
does not allow to make any assumptions about the usage of specific
users. Therefore I need to anonymize the analysis somehow or hide the
user related reports.
Following reports are bugging me:
- Site Usage Summary: Top Users (Average requests per day over past 30
days)
- Site Collection Users: User activity (past 30 days)
Is it somehow possible (maybe even in a MS supported way, meaning save
for future updates) to either remove these reports or configure the
usage analysis to not logging the actual user names?

visual usage report
Hi,
Can anyone advise on the best way to approach this requirement:
We have a top level portal homepage. It has lots of links to
departmental content on lower levels, company news, etc.
Our communications team have asked if it's possible to create a
weekly
visual report which is basically a screenshot of this page, with the
number of times each link on the page has been clicked. (They'd like
percentages too.)
This is on MOSS 2007 standard.
Any suggestions?

IIS Error for 1 user in entire domain
My Domain Users group has access to the home page of the corporate
intranet. They have R/W access via IIS and still 1 particluar person
is still getting a IIS error when he tries to access the corporate
intranet.
It is a 403.2 error indicating the user does not have access, I
checked just to verify he was part of the <domain>\Domain Users group
and he is. '
Does anyone have any ideas on what the issue is here and if so how to
fix it.

Automated Workflow
I have been playing with the workflow in sharepoint. I'm having trouble
creating a workflow that checks the currentdate and the duedate in the
project tasks list. The workflow works when a user modifies the record. I
don't think the 3 options will work for what I'm trying to do when I created
the workflow. I expected the work flow to send a email to the assigned to
when the duedate was lessthan currentdate. I wanted the workflow the
automaticly run without the user clicking on the record. I wanted to use a
while loop in the workflow with a sleep at the end. There doesn't seem to be
a option to allow me to change the if condition to while. Is there a way to

Finding a virus infected file in the Sharepoint Portal Server
Hi,
Symantec anti-virus picks up and cleans some file(s) every time it
runs on our SPS 2003 server. They are always in the \Program Files
\SharePoint Portal Server\DATA\Temp\spsgthrsvc\ folder and I have
worked out that it is the search gatherer that is pulling the files
out of the database and putting them there to be searched at which
point the anti-virus sees them. The question is, how do I find out
which files in Sharepoint the infected gatherer files correspond to?
By the time they have been copied locally, they have been re-named to
random names like flt7116_6892.doc, so how do I hunt down the
offending object(s) in the document libraries so I can delete them?
I'm guessing there may be a logfile somewhere that can point the way,
but I don't know where to start looking.

Unable download image file on picture manager
Hi,
I have SharePoint Portal 2003 server, and the client have installed Office
2003.
When user want to download the image file on picture library, it prompt
"Picture Manager is unable to open pictures over the Internet that are not
from a Windows SharePoint Services picture library. Please specify a valid
and try again."
The server and client is under same network, please advise.

IE 6 Bombs Out When Trying To Navigate Through Intanet
We have IE 6 on one of my users workstations. He can get to the home
page of the intranet but when he tries to manuver around to any other
of the pages within the intranet IE bombs and fires off a .dll
error.
Same happens if I give him a url within the intranet (to a workspace
etc) -- he can get to it fine but when he tries to drill into a
component of that site IE bombs with a .dll error.
Any ideas.

MOSS SSO with Lotus Webmail
Hello everybody,
I have client with a Lotus mail system and are now introducing
SharePoint in their environment. They plan to move to exchange, but
that wont happen anytime soon. For the time being they are looking to
integrate Lotus Web Mail within SharePoint with Single Sign On. They
have Kerberos enabled in their environment. I read about a third
party
web part, Econium, but not able to find the company online.
Any thoughts or sugguestions?

Cannot Install Application Templates On Sharepoint Portal Server
I have downloaded the Application Templates and cannot install them.
The command it says I have to run stsadm with some parameters.
The location of this command is in this folder...
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\BIN
I DO NOT have this folder but rather have
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\60\BIN
One of the commnad line parameters for stsadm.exe according to the
documentation is "addsolution".
This command line parameter is not available in my version of stsadm.exe
