    - Task Notification Email Alerts Not Working We have a medium moss farm. One of our solutions is unable send task alert emails. User subscribed emails work and task alert emails work from other web applicaitons except for this one. We have tried everything, updating the alerts template using stsadm and nothing seems to work.     - Site Collection and Site Directory Hi, I'm new to Office SharePoint 2007. Two requests have come in from users who would like to create a team site for the projects they work on. I have moss installed and am at the point where I can create a team site. I'm however not sure where I should do it. I see two locations. One is via the SharePoint Administrator as a site collection (sharepont.com/sites/) and the other location is via the main sharepoint front page in the site directory (sharepoint.com/ SiteDirectory) What is the best place to create new team sites?     - Item level secuity; administrator edit I am running Portal Server 2007. I have a list that I want to set up with item level security such that it is set as: "Specify which items users can edit: Only Thier Own" The users will be entering their own records in the list and should never be able to see someone else's. However, I can envision them forgeting to enter a record and the administrator entering it for them. In this case I woul still like the item to show up in the user's list.     - Search scope based on Content Type Hello, I want to set a custom scope to search only Contact content type. So i access to SSP Search Setting and i allow ContenType property to be used in scopes. Then i create Contact scope, applying the rule base on property ContentType = Contact. And it doesn't works, items found are 0. I do the same task on FileExtension property ( = doc) just to verify if error should be about crawling, refresh or reset, but it works.     - SSO db upgrade from SPS2003 to MOSS2007 Hi all, I have migrated SPS2003 farm to MOSS2007 farm by "Content DB" upgrade with only a problem.... SSO database! I have try to backup the SSO db in the SPS farm from SQL Server (Management Studio) and restore it in the MOSS farm. I have also made the backup and restore of the cryptographic key (from SPS to MOSS). The problem is that I'm not able to read the credentials stored in the SSO db in the MOSS farm: it seems a decryption problem.I used a simple web part that lists the credentials stored in the SSO for the current user. The only way for a SSO db upgrade is an in-place or gradual upgrade? in this two last scenarios the SSO upgrade will works? Anyone has a suggestion for this issue or some experience on it?     - MOSS 2007 task list I have a task list that emails several people when something on the task is changed. The email says that my name was removed from the task (along with 3 other people) and someone elses name was put on. Problem is, that task was never assigned to any of us. None of us have configured an alert for anything on that list. In fact, two of the individuals have never used that particular sub site.     - Inheriting content types I created a new content type programatically using Sharepoint Object Model. It fails when I inherit it from any content type. The error log says "Failed to find the parent content type ID=...". I have the ID= "parent content type Id + 00 + GUID " so that the new content type inherits from the parent content type. I also tried with parent content type Id + two hexadecimal numbers as mentioned in the following link : http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa543822.aspx I can successfully inherit only when the parent is of document content type.     - Reporting Services 2005 in SharePoint Integrated mode with forms Well, I have reporting services 2005 installed and configured in sharepoint integrated mode, so I am deploying reports in sharepoint libraries. After that I configured sharepoint to use forms authentication with builtin AspNetSqlMembership provider, but this action caused reports to not execute. I searched and found hotfix 3186 for this issue and applied it, but nothing has changed! Error I have been experiencing is following: An unexpected error occurred while connecting to the report server.     - Advanced permissions problem Dear, I have a MOSS 2007 portal with some subsites. On half of the sites I cannot enter the "advanced permissions" page anymore. I disabled custom errors and enabled call stack to have a better error description then the ms "unknown error".     - cannot migrate WSS3.0 data to OSS2007 across different hardware Server 1: SBS 2003 SP1 with WSS3.0 Server 2: Win2003 with OSS2007, joined the domain that SBS handles I have tried to do a backup and then restore to the OSS2007 server: lists come across fine; sub sites based on site admin templates come over fine; sub sites based on server admin templates do not come across ("unexpected error") Then I tried to save as template with content on the sub sites that didn't come across. Each then gives an error that the site is too big (>10Mb). The subsites based on the server admin templates are teeny weeny, just a few months of use in a 5 client environment.     - emailing shortcuts: url too long We are starting to get complaints from users stating they can't paste shortcuts into an email from some folders within our sharepoint doc libs. I am assuming the add hyperlink form in Outlook 2007 has a limit of 255 and the test URL has 307. We find it odd that MS would pad URLs with so many fillers that they render it unusable. MOSS2007 PC's that are not part of our domain can browse to our MOSS 2007 portal just fine, however, laptops that are getting a GPO that forces these entries into the Local Intranet Zone for IE: http://*.ourcomany.com https://*.ourcomany.com Will get 404 not found when browsing to moss.ourcompany.com If they launch Firefox and browse, works fine. If they remove the entries from the Intranet Zone, it still will not load, if they remove the entries, and add the site to the Trusted Sites zone, the page then loads fine.     - Problems with Search Results Not Showing Hi, I know I am missing something here but can't find it on my own. I am sure this is obvious but I have apparantely become blind and am missing it, so HELP! I have a new MOSS install. Search is up and running and documents are indexed.     - I need some suggestions here... I'm the newly hired Sharepoint Administrator for a company in Dallas. We have a migration project where we're migrating our Sharepoint sites from a single underpowered stand-alone server to a small sized web- farm. That in and of itself isn't too difficult. The challenge I face is the fact that the current stand alone server was inadvertently installed with MOSS 2007 Enterprise Edition when it should have been the standard edition.     - Content Query Web Part: Tasks filtered by 'assigned to' gives strange MOSS 2007: When creating a Content query web part that shows all tasks in a site collection assigned to a specified person, The tasks are only shown when the page is in Edit state. As soon as I click Save (or Publish, for publishing pages), the tasks just disappear completely, leaving only the web part title. When editing the page again, the tasks spontaneously appear again. This is only the case for portal sites, when testing in the My Site collection, the abovementioned problem does not happen. Can someone please try to test this behaviour on his/her MOSS 2007 site?     - views Hi I am wondering when I have finished viewing a task on sharepoint I want it to go back to the client that it is under. But instead it goes all the way to top. So once I put complete on a task and click OK it reloads at the top and then I have to find the task I was just looking at to go back to where I was.     - Yes / No Columns appear as Text type? Well this explains a lot... We've been trying to use meta data stored in custom columns as search scopes or as filters but it never worked and today I've noticed that these columns are appearing as of type text when adding a Mapping. Surely that can help, so to recap: We have 3 columns: * Archived - Type: Yes / No * Group Relevance - Type: Yes / No * Membership: Type: Choice, no fill-in allowed We uploaded some files and fill in the meta data, ran a full crawl (apparently you have to wait for the indexer to find the values first http://www.sharepointblogs.com/tbone/archive/2007/11/20/unable-to-create-quot-managed-quot-property.aspx) Now when we add the Manage Property (Shared Services Administration: SharedServices1 > Search Settings > Managed Properties > Add Managed Property) the properties are nowhere to be seen under type Yes/No when adding a mapping.... only under type Text! So how come columns of type Yes/No appear as type Text? Am I missing something obvious here? PS: I've checked the Top Sites column which does appear as yes/no and can't notice any difference. Unfortunatly the fields that show user info like department, telephone, etc. including the profileviewer are no configurable webparts.     - Getting rid of first tab in top navigation I have created two site collections and since collections must have separate navigations, I'm having some trouble getting them to look identical. In other words, the main site (root) has 4 sub-sites. One of those sub-sites is actually a separate site collection, but I want it rendered in the navigation to look like a sub-site. Everything is fine until I navigate to the new site collection. The new collection's navigation shows up which can confuse users. So I manually modified the second site collection's navigation to look just like the first The problem is that when I click on the second site collection, the navigation control is always rendering the site collection name as the first tab. For example, the main (/) navigation tab looks like this: [Home] [Site 1] [Site 2] [Site 3] [Site 4] When I click on Site 2 which is the separate site collection, the best I can get the nav to look like is: [Site 2] [Site 1] [Site 2] [Site 3] [Site 4] Notice that "Site 2" is always displayed at the beginning (just as "Home" was for the root nav). Is there a way to get rid of this? I've tried playing around with the SiteMapDataSource control in the master page, but setting the various StartingNodeUrl and StartingNodeOffset seem to have no affect whatsoever. This site was created under a Windows SharePoint Server 2003 site, but I have no administrator rights on the server. I can only administer my one site. I have read that you can backup sites created in Windows SharePoint Services using FrontPage and this is what I would like to do. But I have also read that sites created in SharePoint Server need to be backed up using SQL or other such programs that I have no access to. I know Windows SharePoint Services is integrated into SharePoint Server 2003, but I am thoroughly confused as to what platform my site is in. Hi,
I've configured alerts on my tasks list to track all changes and
instantly send it to my email. Right after that my portal sends me a
letter, that alerts are configured. But when I create new Task item no
notification letter comes.
This tasks are configured at site http://portal/resources/ThisSite.
Before it used to be a site collection at http://portal/sites/ThisSite,
but we had to move it into our main site collection under http://portal,
what I did using stsadm -export/import. On http://portal/sites/ThisSite
notifications worked fine, but at new location I have lots of
problems.
Any hints?

I had the same problem and never found a good solution. I did find a work
around for it. I went to the list alert me area. Then I created an alert
for each of the registered users that would fire on any changes within the
"my view" area. I doubt this is the â??officialâ?? answer but it did work.
