    - SPS 2003 and images with high resolution I've got a user who claims that they are uploading images originally at 300 DPI to the SPS 2003 portal. When the go to get the images back out again (for e-mail or PowerPoint purposes) the image resolution drops to 96 DPI.     - Removing webparts from <SiteName> Gallery I am using SPD and WSS 3.0. I am unable to find a way to remove WEbParts from the <Site Name> Gallery or the "Server Gallery" which appears when we try to add web parts to a web part zone. I can add/remove webparts from the Web Part Gallery under Site Settings, but unable to remove/add web parts from the "server gallery" or "closed web parts gallery" Can anyone suggest how I can go about doing this?     - MOSS 2007 don't want to start a virtualized (SoftGrid) MS Project 2000 Hi, I have implemented MOSS 2007 in a Citrix environment with IE 6.0 SP2, Office 2003 Professional and MS Project 2000. Everything is working very fine. Howerver, when I want to edit a MS Project File via MOSS 2007 (Pull Down Menu, "Edit in Microsoft Office Project") I got an error: "The document could not be opened for editing. A Windows SharePoint Services compatible application could not be found to edit the document". MS Project 2000 is via Citrix availaible as virtualized (SoftGrid) application. The rest (Office 2003 and IE) are not virtualized within Citrix. For some reason MOSS can not start the MS Project 2000 virtualized application, MOSS "thinks" the application is not installed. Details: The Temp folder is on a drive that is full or is inaccessible. Free up space on the drive or verify that you have write permission on the Temp folder. (0x80070660) --- Using google I found very little information about how this could be solved regarding MOSS. Does anybody have any suggestions? The search is configured to be started as a specific user within the domain, so could it be that this users needs to have specific rights on this folder? The Temp folder is located on the c drive of the server where only 32 Gb is free, so perhaps its wise to move the temp folder to antoher drive where over 200Gb's available, or is this not nescesarry?     - Cannot Open Folder I have a Sharepoint 2007 Standard server site up and running on Windows 2003 R2 server. From the inside of our network everything works great. The problem is on the outside. I have ISA 2004 as my firewall. I have a Sharepoint rule that points to my Sharepoint server inside my network. From the outside I can upload files to the root of the shared documents folder, I can create folders in the root as well as delete folders and files in the root. The problem is if I try to open a folder, or check out a file out it gives me 'a page cannot be displayed'. I have unchecked the Verify Normalization and Block High Bit Characters in the HTTP filter of the rule since I have seen several newsgroup postings talking about this being an issue, but it did not help my case. When I try to move any of the sites, it gives me the following error: List does not exist The page you selected contains a list that does not exist. It may have been deleted by another user.     - Deploying a sharepoint site Hey everybody, I'm not a web developer, just a lowly windows form developer, but I've been charged with the task of playing with sharepoint and seeing if it will fit our needs for a couple of new internal projects. Thus far I like it. I'm running into a deployment problem though. I can't figure out how to take the sharepoint site from the development server onto a live server. I tried doing it with a normal xcopy deploy and setting up the virtual directory. However, I've had no such luck doing that.     - How do I add AD Members to a site in mass? How do I add AD Members to a site in mass? I'm fairly new to Moss 07, this is my first install. In Central Administration I have created my shared services, set up a crall and imported all the active directory users and groups. I have created a Top Level web site and can add individual members to the site. But is there any way to add all the AD members to the site at one time, like the import is done through SharedServices. It looks to me as if I can only add one member at a time. Is this correct or am I really missing something?     - SSO Individual Account & Excel Services Hi there, i´ve got a problem with excel services. I want to access my Olap Cube (Analysis Services) via an Excel Services Webpart, therefore I set up Single Sign-On. When I create an Application Definition and choose to use "Group" as authentication method and than add an specific group and an user to access the data, everyhtings work fine. But when I want to use the "individual" authentication method it doesnt work. I searched the whole day, over and over, every site and newsgroup but absolutely nowhere is described what I has to enter in the application definition account definition. For the group authentication method, i just have to define a group (Where people assigned that should have access) and an user which have access to the backend data. Thats Ok. But for the individual authentication method I have to enter one user, but I want that every user that has access in the backend system can access the data. Anyone has a clue how to configure this individual access method (With windows authentication) right? Thanks in advance for all your help!     - Does my Index server need a URL? How to extend site to it? We have for MOSS servers. One inside our FW, 2FE outside, and one app/index/search outside. We have MOSS installed on all 4. I built a customized page to display content of another page based on the page GUID passed as query string. What happened right now is if the page is moved, the page GUID changed also, thus the link is broken. It seems employees who have never created a My Site don't have this issue. If I delete the profile and re-import, the problem is fixed, but then it appears I lose all the customizations they've done to their profile (extra phone fields, About Me, My Links are the ones I'm most concerned with). I thought that if I could export the data from the table it's stored in, delete the profiles, re-import them and then import the old data, I could work around this issue.     - MOSS Search not returning files from FileShare Hi, I'm having some issues with a Demo MOSS installation running the Trial Software on a Single Server Environment. I have created a content source that points to a fileshare on the same Domain as the MOSS Server in the SSP Admin console. I have run the full index and in the log it has succesfully indexed the share, no errors and 177 items indexed. I have created the Search Scope to use the above content source, then run a full update but it has returned "0" items. I can't understand where the problem is, I am even using the Domain Admin account as the Content Access Account. There seems to be a break in the link between the Scope and the Index, surely the fact the Index has returned all the items rules out any permissions issues?     - BDC Authentication I've successfully imported a BDC Application using PassThrough authentication. I'm attempting to query back-end systems. If I Remote Desktop into the MOSS server, I get the correct results. However, if I try and query it through another PC MOSS claims it cannot connect to the BDC. I'm using Windows Authentication both times. Environment: 1. MOSS 2007 Enterprise all on one box. The back-end system data is coming from a database on another box, both are SQL Server. I've also attempted to use RevertToSelf authentication. This method, while it doesn't throw any errors, doesn't return any data either.     - sharepoint portal site access not working outside firewall via https (redirects to local naming) if we try to access our sharepoint site outside of the firewall via https://wan1.domain.com:446 (port 446).. it will pop up asking for login info.. you put this info in the box and connect.. it then redirects to http://pstintranet/pages/default.aspx.. which obviously wont work if you dont have vpn.. if you do have vpn of course it does..     - MOSS 2007 Using SQL in another untrusted domain Hi everyone! I read of the article at "http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932376/en-us?spid=11373&sid=global" that documents the process as to "How to configure SharePoint Server 2007 to use a database that is hosted on a server that is running SQL Server in an untrusted domain" to host the configuration and content databases. I gather this scenario is supported then and I might assume also that "untrusted domain" implies the SQL server residing in a different AD "forest" from the server hosting MOSS 2007. Can I safely assume that having correctly configured the SQL access as described in that article, "all" MOSS 2007 functionality still works and is fully supported? Any gotchas? Another bit, we're thinking of setting up another SQL instance on that same SQL server for another MOSS 2007 that this time resides in the SQL server's domain. So, two MOSS 2007 servers in two forests but using the same multi-instanced SQL server in one of the forest. Appreciate any pointers and feedbacks :-) Many thanks. Cheers!     - Building Organization Hierarchy for MySites We have a custom app that populates user profiles with data from a combination of sources, including AD and a corporate directory. When populating the Manager profile property, we are using the user principal name from AD, but when a user browses to his Profile page, the Manager is not shown in the Organization Hierarchy. If the user goes to the Details page to edit his profile, the Manager field is filled in and underlined as if it is recognized. If he clicks the Check Name button next to the Manager field, and then saves the profile, the problem is fixed and the Manager is shown in the Organization Hierarchy.     - problem metadata pdf Hi, sp2007 question: when we upload office documents, the file properties (title, comments, author, ...) are taken along with the document. these properties are shown in search results (example the description in fixed query web parts) Test procedure 1. locate a local pdf document 2. edit metadata (right click the file, properties, summary tab : fill in some values). 3. upload the pdf to a document library 4. download the uploaded document 5. check the properties : everything is empty ??? now do the same thing with an ms-office document, metadata will stay untouched. my problem : the description (in the resulting xml of a search) property is allways empty for pdf documents Anyone the same problem or a solution?     - MOSS and 'Topics' Hi, We currently use SP2003 and I am testing MOSS. We will be doing a straight install of MOSS rather than a SP2003 upgrade. In SP2003 we use the Topics section. In this, we have perhaps 30 different subareas with some having Active Directory security on the subarea so it is only visible to certain groups. This works well for us...however when I look at MOSS I can not see anything like this. What I am looking for is a similar easy way to add subareas that can be visible or invisible based on security but are all in one page.     - MOSS 2007 - strage behaviour in recogizing AD users Hello all, I have noticed a strange behaviour i MOSS 2007. Whenever I add users (for example in Manage Attendees in a Meeting Workspace), I enter a user i the form of "domain\username", click the tick and the system then finds the corresponding user from within the AD repository. It works OK for most users and MOSS resolves the entry to the user's display name. However, certain users are resolved to their e-mail addresses and the e-mail address is then displayed in the list instead of the display name (I've noticed no differences between those and correctly displayed users - all the entries in AD are the same - in their AD entries ad my custom applications that use LDAP recognize correctly all users). It would look like just a cosmetic problem but there is a much bigger issue as a consequence: despite those users being recognized by their e-mail address, when they set alerts for them, the system reports that they don't have the e-mail address specified!     - Deleting empty lists and libraries prior to MOSS 2007 upgrade I was wondering if anyone could advise on best practices regarding empty lists and document libraries in Sharepoint Portal 2003. Prior to a MOSS 2007 upgrade (or database migration), is it recommended to delete the many empty lists and libraries that could exist in either areas or sharepoints sites? Whenever a new area or site is created, there are a few default libraries and/or lists auto-created. Sometimes those go unused, but are not deleted.     - DataSheet View Errors For those of you who are getting an error when accessing the datasheet view, See my solution below. I think the issue is primarily for Office 2003 users loading MSProject Pro 2007. When you load MSProject 2007 Pro for the first time, deselect the entire shared component and install. If you already have MSProject 2007 installed, do this from add remove programs. This will fix the data sheet view however, when a PM or RM goes to build a team or an admin goes to edit security in PWA, there are errors when trying to save. The cure for this seems to be installing Office 2007 Pro however, if you do not want to install the office 2007 Pro suite like us, deselect EVERYTHING except the Office Tools component at the bottom.     - content and stucture issue after upgrade I everyone, I recently preformed an upgrade from SPS 2003 to MOSS 2007. I however noticed that the new 2007 sites are created differently than they were in 2003. Or at least thats what it seems. No matter what i do I can't get the old 2003 sites to show up in the content and structure page like the new 2007 sites do. Is there any way to make the old sites show up in the site structure and behave like MOSS 2007 sites? Also could anyone explain why there is an apparent difference in the concept of sites between 2003 and 2007? Our sharepoint setup is a very basic single server installation. If Dr. Watson reporting is enabled, details of the error will be sent to Microsoft for investigation. W3WP.EXE: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException @Microsoft.SharePoint.Library.SPRequestInternalClass.RenderViewAsHtml(String bstrUrl, String bstrListName, String bstrViewID, String bstrViewXml, String bstrQualifier, Boolean& pbSharedList) All of them are Warning level, have event ID 0, category None, user N/ A, and have the same contents.     - MOSS 2007 mixed with sites running differing .NET Framework versions Hi all, Greetings. Just a quick question. I think I've read before that there are ways to host multiple .NET Framework versions on the IIS and relevant web sites on the IIS configured to use their own specific .NET version for their ASP.NET. Just curious if this is doable on an IIS6 that hosts MOSS 2007. What if the server also hosts all the .NET Framework version, that being versions 1.0, 1.1, 2.0 and 3.0. I believe there will be CPU and memory contentions and multiple copies worker processes in isolated mode. Are there other gotchas or supportability issues?     - HTTPS/SSL a single page I have a client that would like their main homepage (what you hit when you type www.servername.com) be SSL encrypted because they have a login field on this page. Every other page need not be encrypted. Does anybody have any ideas on how to do this? I found this application, http://www.codeproject.com/aspnet/WebPageSecurity_v2.asp, and while I think it will work, I'm wondering if there's a quicker/ leaner solution. Thanks! We recently did an in place upgrade from SPS 2003 to MOSS 2007. The
upgrade seemed to go fine but there were some oddities left over from
the upgrade. One of which seemed to be a site(?) in all the migrated
my sites called "My Site (old)". Well I went in to it and deleted it
(the stupid part), and now the profiles on the my sites don't seem to
work. I'm guessing somehow I deleted all the layouts for the my site
profiles.

Does anyone know of a way to restore, or fix this issue? Thanks.
