    - Open list always as "View in Dataheet" Dear all, I have two questions regarding lists. 1. I have several lists that should be mantained by several users.     - alternate access mappings I do not understand what is happening when I extend an existing web application (to another IIS web site). I successfully extended a web application into the extranet zone. So when I go to central administration and look at the Alternate Access mappings that pertain to the Alternate Access Mappings Collection I am talking about I see 2 mappings listed: internal url zone public url for zone http://litwareportal:55092 Default http://litwareportal:55092 http://litwareportal:40033 Extranet http://litwareportal:40033 I created a site collection for this web application, so I can can open a browser and type in http://litwareportal:55092/sites/intranet/Pages/Default.aspx and see the "intranet" site collection. OK. As it shows above, I extended this into the Extranet zone, but so what does that mean? Can someone explain how I use this? I mean, I can't type in http://litwareportal:4033/sites/intranet/Pages/Default.aspx. I get page cannot be displayed. The purpose is to make the http://litwareportal:55092/sites/intranet/Pages/Default.aspx accessible to a "different" set of users using some other url, but what is that url?     - Domain going away Hi All, We currently have our active directory setup to pull in users from our ABC domain. So all of our users in the system have a username like ABC \jdoe. However, this domain is going away and will be replaced with EFG domain, e.g. EFG\jdoe. Does anyone know what kind of impacts this will have? Will we have to rebuilt the security for the entire portal again, removing the old users and adding the new? Or is there way to replace the username in the database?     - customizing the content editor web part Hi, I've inherited a web content management system built in MOSS 2007, standard, not enterprise. The Content Editor Web Part is used extensively. Obviously this means that all the rich WCM functionality isn't used. I've made a case that the system should be re-built, but this isn't going to happen this year. So... Can I modify the menu options of the Rich Text Editor in the Content Editor Web Part? For example, can I remove the "add image" option? Or remove the option to change text colour?     - Installation of webparts does not list all virtual servers When installating a 3rd party web part on production Sharepoint farm, the installation program does not list all the Sharepoint IIS virtual folders (web applications) defined for the farm. When the install of the webparts is done on a similar Sharepoint farm on a development server, all the relevant IIS virtual folders are listed (with exception of Sharepoint Central Administration site). In Central Admin on production Sharepoint farm, I am able to list all the web applications in Application Management->Web Application List, but the web part intall does not list all of the web apps.     - SPS 2003 Migration Hi there, we are currently running Sharpoint Portal Server 2003 with multiple portals. We have 2 x Web Servers, 1 x SQL Cluster, 1 x Index/Job server and an exchange server. What we are wanting to achive is to migrate to MOSS 2007. Now during this migration we want to combine the extising portals into one larger MOSS 2007 portal. It looks like the gradual upgrade is the approach I would like to take.........(minimize downtime, can revert to v2 site if v3 is having problems.....)     - Domain User being Prompted on Anonymous External SharePoint We have had an SSL External SharePoint 2007 requiring login site since January. Yesterday just release our first External Anonymous SharePoint site. Users from the outside work great; however, my domain users are being prompted when they try to open up a document. In watching a network trace with the occurrence it seems to have something to do with the Microsoft Office Protocol Discover call that is made when the call for the document to open. I realize that a second call is made when the request for the document to open. The users do not have the problem in Fox Fire only in IE. Also I have the WebDav accessibility is turned on in IIS.     - Maintaining hierarchy Dear colleagues, In a custom list; I would like to implement a directory that may have the following options: 1.) Categories may contain subcategories and so on. 2.) An item may belong to more than one category or sub-category. For example: If Microsoft company would be included in the directory and we have some categories such as: 1. IT 1.1 Software 1.2 Hardware 2. Finance 3. Research and assuming we would like to add Microsoft web site to the directory and that it belongs to (1. IT), (1.1 Software), (1.2 Hardware) and (3. Research), figuring out a suitable approach causes me headache! The reason is that I'm limited to not using any thing other than Sharepoint. I implemented a content type of type folder in order for me to maintain the hierarchy of categories; should an item belong to a single category or sub-category, then another content type in the list of type item would work just fine; however, the intersection of association as in the Microsoft example doesn't make that approach suitable. If would use a webpart, that would be some how OK, but I must leave the user use the standard default "NewForm" and "EditForm". Some may wonder, why not using the Site Directory; it's an approach being studied at the moment, but the current approach is to use a custom list.     - Moving Site Collection with SP Toolkit I just installed the Sharepoint toolkit on our devlepment server for some testing. I have 1 question and 1 problem. The question is, when just selecting 'move' to move a site collection to another content database, does the toolkit 'lock' down the site collection in the process ? The problem I see is, I locked down a site in order to test the move process and when viewing the admin page, the site is still listed as 'not locked'. I even refreshed the page twice.     - MOSS Hosting Hello All We host a few sharepoint 2007 sites for a few clients (SPLA). The way our setup is configured at the moment is that we configure their top level site for them and just provide them with an access URL, they dont get access to Central Admin. Therefore If anything is required to be enabled on the server, for example the InfoPath forms service, they request this via a support ticket. We now have the requirement to provide a dedicated service to a specific customer who wants to be able to use Central Admin. The problem as I see it is that the dedicated service is in our hosting AD domain and therefore they could cause problems and also probably browse our AD (?) Is there a way,apart from creating them in their own domain, that we can stop them interogating our hosting AD? What are the real risks if we let them lose with central admin on a MOSS server in our hosting domain. Any thoughts and advice would be most welcome.     - Sharepoint solution architecture? Hello all: I am a Dynamics CRM solutions architect with a little knowledge of SharePoint, so if anyone has suggestions about the following scenario I will greatly appreciate input. Does anyone know of any Sharepoint planning tools such as project plans, "how-tos" for architecture, etc? I am working with a customer who needs to manage issuing RFPs and then responses to those RFPs. They would like to set a deadline for an RFP response, and if someone responds to the RFP they can submit changes to their answer any time prior to the deadline, but the customer would like to have these changes submitted to an approval queue for them to review before the change is actually applied to the response. The customer is thinking they would like an intranet for managing the RFPs and responses, and then each responder will have access to an extranet to manage their responses. We also need to link this process to MSCRM. So the scenario I was thinking is using MOSS to manage this process, and the questions I have are: 1. Is MOSS a good possible solution/ Would it be possible to sue MOSS to create a hierarchy of sites such that the overall site is accessible to the company, and then each possible RFP responder gets an internet accessible "sub-site" under the MOSS site? I was thinking that there would be a list (or??) that shows open RFPs, and as soon as someone wants to respond to an RFP they are asked some information, and then a new sub-site is created for them. 2. To create a new RFP I was thinking of either an ASP.NET web form or an Infopath/Forms Services form. Would either solution work? 3.That's where I am for now, can anyone make a suggestion as to whether I am on the right track? Are there more answers I need to find out? Thanks. John.     - Error after editing default.aspx page Sharepoint 2003, sp2. User edit the default.aspx page by going to IE, Source, Edit in Notepad, and remove a referenced .jpg and added an html tage. Now the page says "this web part page has been modifie since you opened it. You must open the page again". Refresh. What can I do to fix this problem? I registered profile import connection, made full import, extended application. It worked. Cool. The next part. I need to import some custom properties from LDAP to user profiles. Production Farm Setup: MOSS 2007 Ent Etd 1 Index server ( Windows 2003 Server Ent) 1 Web/Query Server ( Windows 2003 Server Ent) 1 DB running SQL 2005 (Windows 2003 Server Ent) My search stopped working after running smoothly for 10 months. Now when I try to start/config "Office SP Server Search" on my "Web" server, I get below errors 1:Error executing service instance (un)provisioning job. Service instance: "Office SharePoint Server Search" (id "0b0ca9af-0374-48d8-8e58-8138622d46ec) "Method failed with unexpected error code 3."" 2: An attempt to start/stop instance of service Office SharePoint Server Search on server "WEB" did not succeed.     - Site Template not visible in Create New SharePoint Site page Hello, Setup: MOSS 2007 Issue: I save a site as a site template. The site template is in the Gallery: Site Templates. When initiate the Create New - site or workspace option, the new custom Site Template is NOT visible in the Template section of the "Create New SharePoint Site" page. Why? Is there an option in Central Admin that could be disabled / enabled to allow users to use custom site templates? Could it be one of the Site Features that is messed up?
