upon completing an implementation of sharepoint an issue arose
regarding the login propmpts. users didnt want to be faced with the
login prompt everytime they wanted access to the portal.

i discovered in one of the posts that if integrated authentication was
turned on in IIS then users could access the portal from the desktop
without the login prompt...

upon turning on 'integrated authentication' i cant access the portal on
my local machine. i am returned with an error, as follows;

'Access denied. You do not have permission to perform this action or
access this resource.
Access requests are not enabled'

many thankyous in advance for any help

Stupid question but I'll ask it anyways... You are logged on to
Windows with the same domain account that has rights to SharePoint
correct?

And, in IE Internet Options, did you place the SharePoint site in your
trusted site list, and then tell IE to pass your current logon
credentials? Going integrated may cause difficulties--IE can't pass
encrypted NTLM credentials. If you set the portal for anonymous or basic
authentication, then IE can pass your logon credentials.

all i did was place the intranet as the default webpage, i then asked
the server administrator to turn on integrated authentication on IIS,
reset. at this point connection was broken. i need the details to pass
on to the server administrator.

cheers
