You should install WSS SP2 first , I always re-boot the server then install
SPS SP2 and again I reboot the server. Why do I reboot , habit of working
with MS products for over 9 years I guess , plus it never seems to give me
problems after doing it this way.
Not sure about the slipstream support for Sharepoint service packs , maybe
someone else out there has tried ?
