    - Limiting an index to one list I have created a context index on my SPS site and have set the Crawl individual SharePoint list items option so that when I search I see individual list items in my search results. What I want to do now is to limit the results to one list and this is where I have run in to trouble. If I change the rule to http://spportal/Lists/MyList or even http://spportal/Lists then I no longer see list items instead I get the list page. If I set the URL to my list page (http://spportal/Lists/MyList/AllItems.aspx) and set a page depth to 1 or 2 then the number of documents is reduced (221 from 1000) but I can no longer see my list items (allowing complex URLs doesn't help). A page depth of 3 returns me to the 1000 documents and list items visible. If I add rules to exclude the URLs I don't want then as soon as I exclude http://spportal/i* then I lose almost all the documents (57) and the list items. Strangely if I exclude http://spportal/L* this has no effect and I can see a list item at http://spportal/Lists/MyList/DispForm.aspx?? Can anybody tell me what I am doing wrong or a better approach to this? Does anyone know why excluding http://spportal/i* gets rid of most content? Why do I have to specify crawl list items at the http://spportal/ level?     - Can't upload documents I successfully setup Sharepoint and had everything working (uploading docs) but then found out FrontPage and Sharepoint can't coexist on the same virtual server. I created a new virtual server and extended it but now I cannot upload or create new docs. When I try, it prompts for a username and password. When I enter it it appears to take it but the upload never finishes. I'm getting the following in my event log each time I try to upload. The message hit s the event log as soon as you click Save and Close: Faulting application w3wp.exe, version 6.0.3790.0, stamp 3e8000e6, faulting module stswel.dll, version 11.0.6568.0, stamp 42e17544, debug? 0, fault address 0x0005a862. I have frontpage 2002 running on the previous virtual server now. I think I've tried everything. I have full Admin rights in both Sharepoint and NTFS. In addition, here is the error I get after the upload finally times out: The location of my site is http://sharepoint/LeadershipLibrary which I can access with no problem. http://sharepoint/LeadershipLibrary/_vti_bin/shtml.dll/Shared%20Documents/Forms/Upload.aspx The page cannot be displayed The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. I am only trying out the 30-D hosted trial MS Sharepoint (as an user, not an administrator) and would like to know whether SharePoint version control will be able to cater to alphanumberic version controlling. Eg.     - "Access is Denied" error after changing search schedule We have a single-server installation, with a couple of portals in their own virtual servers (the divisions are small in people number but require their own security and branding). I'm a local admin on the server. When I try to change a search schedule (Site Settings >> Configure Search and Indexing >> Manage Search Schedules >> New Search Schedule), I can choose all the settings, but after clicking OK, I get an "Access is denied error". That's all the information on the page, and there are no entries in the event or system viewers. I've done some digging in the MS KB, and tried the solution in article 827921, but that didn't fix the problem. I hope someone has another idea or an additional log to look in for error messages.     - Admin ID PW Change We are adopting Sarbanes-Oxley in our organization and part of the "compliancy" critiera is requiring us to change the password for our "Sharepoint Administrative ID" that we are using in SPS. We are basically using 1 ID to authenticate the SPS Services and such. What I would like to know is if there is an easy way to change the password for the Admin ID that is tied to Active Directory without having to re-enter the password in multiple places? I may be way off base, but I am looking at 4 services, 4 settings on the SearchServiceManagement.aspx page, and 2 Application Pools. This seems like a large amount of work, and potentially fatal work if I don't get this correct. Any suggestions are greatly welcome!     - Upgrade from Evaluation Version Hello, We have a severe problem. Our evaluation version of SPS 2003 has expired. We have purchased a retail version, but I can't install it.     - QUESTION - Citrix WISP sounds great, but WON'T support a SPS+SQL2000 on 1 server topology??? Greetings all, I'm a Sharepoint consultant currently assigned with studying & installing Citrix's WISP (Web Interface for SharePoint). It looks like it came out in mid-2005, and sounds really cool. However, reading the pre-install documentation, I see that installing Citrix WISP on a "Single Server with SQL 2000 on the same server" is expressly NOT supported, and is recommended to be avoided ! Bar none, this is the MOST common development scenario Sharepoint HAS - both Sharepoint Portal Server AND SQL Server 2000 all installed on a single development server box. Question - does anyone know what will happen if I try to install Citrix into this environment? If I have to RE-deploy a NEW dev environment made up of TWO servers (one with all Sharepoint Portal Server components, and another with ONLY SQL Server 2000), I'll be much annoyed.     - Getting File download prompt when navigating to portal areas and sites?? Hey guys, So for some reason unknown by myself our users are getting prompted to download a file when they are accessing any site on my SPS server. Here is what is going on: When you try and access the site via http://urlwithoutfilename, http://servername or http:locahost:port you are prompted to download the file. - When you access the site and add "/default.aspx" at the end of the URL / servername / localhost:port, it works fine - If I bring up a new portal site, it works absolutely fine - even though its referencing the same Application Pool The file it wants you to download is actually the OWSSVR.dll, located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\60\isapi Would anyone know what may have gotten changed in IIS or permissions on the 60 folder in order for this to happen?     - SPS/Indexing problem My company is having some issues with the searching portion of Portal (see error below). I am a SQL Server DBA and my knowledge of SPS is very minimal. The network admins are convinced that it is SQL permission-related, but not having a SPS background, I'm not sure where to start troubleshooting. The network admins said they recently applied WSS SP2 and SPS 2003 SP2. It was my understanding that WSS uses SQL full-text searching, but SPS does not. Has anyone experienced this error?     - retrieving mail from Goldmine I figured out how to send emails to people from my Goldmine program but cannot retrieve them from the Goldmine mailbox although I am receiving them into my gmail account so the server is sending and retrieving them I just want them to Goldmine and let me pick them up.     - File Size Limits & SSL Hi! I have 75+ WSS sites running on my server. 10 of them are set to use "All Unassigned IP" and I use host headers to direct traffic to the correct site. Additionally, I have a wildcard SSL in use on all sites. If I try to increase the file size limit on the 10 sites using "All Unassigned IP" it doesn't work. According to the central admin it has been increased but I can't load anything above the 50MB limit. I tried loading the same files on a WSS that is SSL secured but has its own unique IP and the files load just fine after I increase the file size limit to 125MB. Has anyone else run into this?     - Sharepoint Config DB name? My boss wants me to write a front end for configuring/installing web parts. Basically, a UI for stsadm.exe. I was considering scouring the SPS01_Config_Db database on the sql server instance Sharepoint is configured on to retrieve supporting data for this app (provided I know where a portal server is configured). I understand that other databases are created on that server for the various virtual servers, etc. All of which can be queried from the VirtualServers table I was wondering if sharepoint uses any other database names, for example, if another Sharepoint-configured server (not virtual server) uses the same database server for its config, is there another database created, perhaps with the name SPS02_Config_Db?     - Replicate from different locations Hi all, I have 4 SharePoint Portal in different locations with out connection, I cant see those Servers, each server is a different network in different building and different domain. I need to have another server into another building with information from those SharePoint Portal and I donâ??t want to load it again. Any one know how can I replicate those portals in my new Server o how can I replicate some information to put it in my new Server?     - Serious Problem - Sharepoint Service Wont Start Our sharepoint has been running fine for quite a while but today the msdmserv.exe service decided to terminate and I cannot start it again. If I try to start it then then it justs says the service could not be started. The following errors are logged in the Application log: Upgrade to version 10.145.7329.0000 failed. The error code returned was 0x80150804 followed by Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server has shut down. I've tried rebooting and also repairing the installation. While installing webparts with stsadm, I got the error

"The server instance specified was not found. Please specify the server's
address and port."

The web server is there and I've confirmed that the CAB file exists at the
location specified in the BAT file.

Any ideas? Thanks a lot.
